Most of the complaints around Wizards approach to psionics seem to be that they can't be spell caster because they don't feel mechanically distinct. My attempt at the class addresses this by giving them abilities that make their spells harder to interact with and giving them spell points instead of spell slots. Still working on sub-classes.
The warlock feels different from the wizard because they have few spells to cast in between rests. I went the opposite way for my psion, if they pace themselves and stay away from their strongest powers they can keep casting spells all day. Not sure if that's particularly balanced, but it seems like it could work.
Thoughts, criticisms, suggestions, hysterical screaming, all welcomed.
Psionic Talents are generally supposed to be minor cantrips-level effects. A “wild talent” would be one they are born with. You might want to reconsider the name for that feature so people don’t break out the pitchforks and torches on you. I would personally never use this class simply because they would still be “spellcasters” and that is what I personally am most opposed to.
The pitchforks will come if they must. There have been enough versions of the Psion or mystic with no consistent naming conventions. I'm confident using talent here shouldn't actually be anyone's deal breaker.
Your response there is partly why I made the Psion this way. It's a spell caster that should feel and play distinctly from a cleric, wizard or warlock.
Why does using the large, well defined mechanic the game already has for magical effects put people's backs up when it comes to psionics? The alternative is either that they can't do a lot of things with their psionics or the class is the length of a novel spelling out all the things they can do (and most of those things are basically spells).
Working on a new version of the psion class. With all the furor over the psionic sub classes in unearthed arcana, I thought I'd take a stab.
