I'm really having a hard time getting charges to behave properly on a homebrew magic item I'm creating. Here is what I'm trying to do:
I want a Longsword +1, which has allows the attuned wielder to cast Divine Favor. The player can expend one charge and, following the spell's description, cast Divine Favor as a bonus action. The sword has two charges, and all expended charges are restored at dawn.
However, what I am seeing on the character sheet when I add the item doesn't seem to match what I've created. It does show two charges, but it is allowing me to cast the spell at higher levels, by expending more than one charge. I don't want that (because Divine Favor can't be cast at higher levels, as far as I can tell). I want it to only let the player spend one charge at a time, and I want it to make it readily apparent when a charge has been expended. In addition, the weapon lists the charge replenish condition as "Other" despite the fact that I have "Dawn" selected.
I've tried tweaking the weapon and making changes, but the changes don't seem to reflect on the character sheet, even when I remove and re-add the weapon. I'm not sure if this is just the site being slow to catch up, or if I'm doing something wrong.
I just need to know how to add the spell to the weapon, denote on the weapon that there are two charges, and that you can only spend one charge per cast, and that those charges are replenished at dawn.
Go back in and edit the spell attachment. Set “Minimum Charges” and “Maximum Charges” to 1 and set “Cast at Spell Level” as 1. Re-save the spell attachment, then re-save the entire Magic Item. That will trigger the system to look for the changes. Then you just have to be patient for the system to push those changes through to the character sheet.
As for the “dawn” thing, there is no “dawn” button so the player will always have to manually refresh that whenever you tell them that the sun just came up.

how do the manually refresh ?
Clock/tap the charges again and it’ll un-check them.
