I’m probably completely overlooking something obvious, but I was building a subclass that gives two choices of tools; jeweler’s and smith’s. But I can’t figure out how to put just those two as options instead of the Artisan’s tools bundle. Any help would be appreciated.
Sadly the modifier "choose" sub-types are limited in what we can set to only things that appear in official content. However you could still do this by adding a pair of Options, one for Jeweller's Tools and one for Smith's Tools, each with a modifier adding proficiency for the correct tool only.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
I might be dense, but I think I tried that as modifiers. But if that's not what you mean I might need more insight, if you're willing.
Not an option with the modifier. As part of the class feature itself create two “options” and then add the proficiency for one of the two skills to one option, and the proficiency in the other skill to the second option. That way, when they hit the correct level and get the subclass feature they can choose one of those two options and it will grant the correct proficiency.
