So I'm trying to make a magic weapon that has similar functionality to chaos bolt.
So the weapon will do 1d10 + 1d8 damage & the d8 of that roll is used to detmine the damage value.
This already exists in the spell chaos bolt, when you cast the spell it allows you to then pick from the damages types from the table the d8's landed on. I just want 1d8 & to use this in a magic weapon not a spell. However if you can only do this in a spell then that is okay too.
I tried copying the chaos bolt spell to see how its made but other than adding all the conditions I don't see where the table logic is located.
An easy way to do it is to create the table in Excel or Word then copy/paste into the spell. The sizing of columns may not end up exactly as you created it but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye if you're just trying to get the info in there.
wait, how the hell are you getting that, cause I never had the option to roll on the chaos bolt table so it automatically tells me what damage it is like on your screenshot, and I just checked to make sure with one of my char, it still doesn't have that option, but it looks incredibly handy, so even without homebrew, how do you get that?

Any help on this would be amazing, thank you.

Does this automattically setup the automatic parts of it. E.g. I roll a 7, it displays the 7th option from the table.
Casting chaos bolt. but it shows a popup that gives a drop down of the 2 results the 2d8 landed on.

I put in a spell yesterday with a table. It added some die references automatically.
Check it out and see if it suits you...
