just found this post and just can't get it to show on my character sheet. I created the homebrew subclass, and when I go to "Class Features" I see and click Edit on Clockwork Magic. On the next screen I go to the "Description" window and scroll down to the Clockwork Spells table and replace Alarm with Armor of Agathys between the [ ] and [ / ] brackets. I saved it. I then scrolled down to the "Spells (10)" section under "Modifiers" and above "Actions" and click the + I see Alarm on the Table I click Edit. On the next screen I hit the X by Alarm in the "Spell" window to delete it and I type in Armor of Agathys (actually when I clicked in the window a drop box came down and I scrolled to AoA and clicked on it). Saved it.
The subclass shows the right spell in my Homebrew collection, I can select it as a sorcerer origin, it displays on the subclass description as Armor of Agathys, but when I open up the character sheet and go to spells it still says Alarm.

After you saved Armor of Agathys, you have to re-save the entire homebrew using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information or the system will not pick up your edit. After that there is a delay while the system updates.

The homebrew system is weirdly finicky about these things. Double-check under the Spells Section in modifiers that AoA has replaced alarm. If it has, unselect the subclass on your character sheet, jump around to a few pages, go back to the character sheet and reselect the subclass. Given enough time to update, it should eventually show the correct spell on the character sheet; like I say, it is very finicky with these things.
Thank you for the replies. I will give that a try.
edit: just took a look and made a new character and everything showed as it was supposed to. I didn’t change anything it just took a while to update I guess
This solution does not work if I am playing a character without the TCOE book using shared campaign resources in my campaign. Clockwork soul is broken without being able to change out these spells.

In that case you want to ask the DM of that campaign to do this for you, assuming they have the book; you can access any of your DM's homebrew with the character in their campaign. If you're sharing with another player, that's rough; I would have them create the subclass, and then send you the code for each feature so you can create it yourself. A bit more work, but still doable.

It’s not “broken,” it’s still one of the best sorcerer subclasses in existence. It’s just a little inconvenient. Like Adurnis216 said, have whoever is sharing that book help you out. That subclass isn’t that bad really, at least compared to some. If they can copy/past the descriptions and snippets into a PM for you and share screenshots of the settings for stuff you’re be able to have it done in no time.
Alternatively, you can just purchase that subclass for yourself, for, I think, $2. Then you can just do it the easy way.

Unfortunately, this IS a shared resource from another player.

The other player should create the subclass?
How do you do "codes for each feature"?
If the other player does it then they would also have to deal with your spells (unless they made it as dropdowns for you). If they help you make it you can deal with it yourself. They would make a subclass using that as the template and then copy/past for you and share screenshots so you can plug in the right stuff in the right places.
I am trying to build a clockwork soul, and when I go to create a new subclass, only Draconic Bloodline and wild magic are available. So given that I cannot "copy" clockwork soul, how would I go about doing this?

Yeah either you build the character from scratch or you buy the subclass. If you get someone else to copy-paste the homebrew text to you, that can work.
Two years later, and we are still relying on a Bethesda-level hack to implement a basic subclass feature. Very unfortunate. Just like Bethesda, D&DB should be very thankful that its community holds these foundational elements of the game together. As someone in Quality Assurance, if find this whole situation very disappointing. Adding new content must always be balanced against making sure that already-existing content is 100% functional.
Any chance that this on the docket to be working as written soon? Or will this be abandoned?
They are focused on the 2024 playtest and we haven’t seen any revisions for these sorcerer subclasses. Not sure if they will change or stay as is for now so there may be no reason to implement this if they intend to change or get rid of these features post 2024 update.

The easiest way is to go to the marketplace and pay the $1.99 to purchase that subclass so you can copy it.

Kinda sad this is still something that hasnt been added, it seems like such an easy thing to implement
Seems easy, but if it was I’m sure it would have been added by now.

D&D Beyond takes months to fix minor bugs, I suspect their task delegation system is just slow as hell

Thank you so much. I am constantly amazed at what you fine folks can do.
