(Alt name: Can l make there be 2 separate choices/ choice lists for a racial trait to give?)
l am makeing a race, and l want to give them the choice of 2 proficencys (like the lizardfolks "Hunter's Lore"), l cant figure out how to get it to work. l made them both as options in the specific racial ability, but no matter what l try, they wont work. either neither of the "choose a skill" things show up, or it shows up as one choice, and the only options are the 2 "choose a skill" and even then, thats the end of it, i cant even choose one of the skills.
in other words, how do l make: "You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: X, Y, Z" in the race maker?
Edit: l posted a comment 3 comments down giveing more details. please read that too before replying
Create a racial trait that adds a Modifier for proficiency and uses a preexisting skillset (choose a Centaur skill, choose a Minotaur skill, choose a Order Domain skill, etc.). You would have to add this modifier twice if you want them to get to pick two skills from the list.
Create a ”Granted” (NOT “optional” and NOT “replacement”) racial trait that contains a number of Options, one for each skill, and give them a number of choices that you want them to have.
Sorry if this is breaking any rules (i think there's something about necroposting, if so, sorry, but i figured it be easier to bring this back then create a clone) (also, it's kinda fitting for my 666th post)
So, i'm still having this problem. I tried doing as the above poster mentioned, but l couldn't figure out how to get it to work. l tried makeing two "options" in a Racial trait, (each one haveing the skills l wanted, (Animal Handling, Nature, Perception, Stealth, and Survival. to use the above "hunters lore" example)) But when l tried looking at it in the character creator, they either cancelled each other out making there be no options, gave only one "choose a skill", or had 2 "choose a skill" from the options drop down, but l could only choose one, and none of the skills from the "choose a skill" would appear. Clearly l'm missing something. (To clarify, the diffrent states of the "choose a skill" options were caused by weather one or both were "granted". Both granted:both missing, 1:1 missing, one useless, none granted: both, but useless) (the "choose a skill" mentioned above were what l named the "options", each of which contained the skill choices.)
To follow the "path" of the homebrew: Race-Racal trait-Options-"Choose a skill"x2- Skill1,2,3,4,5. Right now, i'm testing to see if deleting the second "choose a skill" will help at all, but my worry is, i'll only be able to choose 1 skill from the list, not the two l need for the race. (nope, lt just pulls up the text from the trait. Next I'm trying makeing it "granted", to see if that will change anything.)
ok, so after some more testing, l realize l need to have each of the skills as a separate option, cause the character maker doesn't like haveing a option with options. The question is, how do l make it so l can choose 2 skills from the list. (is there some way to make the "modifiers" tab be choose-able alongside a "option"?)
You would have to make a “Granted” racial trait, and as part of that trait you would create 5 “options,” one for each of those 5 skills: (Animal Handling, Nature, Perception, Stealth, and Survival).
Make sure that none of the options are “granted,” that will mess stuff up. Then, designate…. Never mind.
Here, do it like this:

You have two ways to do it:
Create a racial trait that adds a Modifier for proficiency and uses a preexisting skillset (choose a Centaur skill, choose a Minotaur skill, choose a Order Domain skill, etc.). You would have to add this modifier twice if you want them to get to pick two skills from the list.
Create a ”Granted” (NOT “optional” and NOT “replacement”) racial trait that contains a number of Options, one for each skill, and give them a number of choices that you want them to have.
