The small Elf continues to run after Garndpa. "Hoy! Ye scared your animals! Get down and stop this nonsense!" Not sure whether Salkur heard him, Ayen points his finger and uses magical means to convey his message. 'Get a grip on yourself and get down, soldier,' he whispers, 'I won't be able to save you if all that's left of you is a charred body.' Sure, they have been affected by strange magics with strange side effects, but he hadn't seen anyone like that yet.
((@Rusty: It would take a bit to get your spiritual weapon up there, and it would have to move past Storm to get at Vrin, so probably no way that he doesn't call a halt before you make that attack, so I think I'll just say that he calls a halt, and starts stripping the guy. ))
((That being the case, I'll process the rest of Grandpa'sFun Time™, and we can pick up after that.))
Shrink, you run towards Grandpa, who is on the other side of the fence between two streams (*unless he'd rather not be, original post was to put back to fence, but then he could fly, so I took some liberties). Are you trying to get to his side (by climbing over the fence), or getting as close as possible this side of the fence, or staying well back?

Climbing over the fence and running as close as possible, but not trying to cross the river yet. After all, he doesn't want to get caught up in some unexpected magic.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rusty disregards Storm and BB standing over Vrin, and Storm's call to hold, and sends a firebolt scorching into the prone fellow. The burn hole seals up after a few seconds. (Cantrips can't trigger surge.)
Shrink scrambles up the fence and over, still running for Grandpa as there is a wave of energy that swirls out around him, insects dropping from the air, a few fish and stream creatures bobbing up to the surface before being quickly swept away.
Each creature within 30 feet of you takes 1d10 necrotic damage. You regain hit points equal to the sum of the necrotic damage dealt.
Another bit of time goes by, Shrink hesitating where a few dead bees litter the ground, before pushing closer... and no further changes seem to happen to Grandpa...
Two rounds of non-applicable surges.
Until Grandpa's skin becomes iridescent, a thin bubble of something inflating around him, rapidly encompassing him and Shrink, before it pops and the film of whatever that was is drawn to both of them, forming a shiny coating across their skin.
You and all creatures within 30 feet of you are covered in a sheen of protective magic that prevents 16 damage that would be taken by each affected creatures, at which point it flakes away into glitter.
A cluster of odd looking creatures pops into existence in the pasture to the southwest, wiggle their antennae and tentacles frantically, and flee.
6 flumphs controlled by the DM appear in unoccupied spaces within 60 feet of you and are frightened of you. They vanish after 1 minute.
Distance: 12 Direction: 6
The last of the chaos energy flickering around Grandpa dims and vanishes. He's left covered in an iridescent sheen, his face has no eyes, but extra large ears, and he can fly. Shrink is similarly shiny. When either of you touch your own skin, it feels glassy and slick.
By the time the two of you return to the villa, Storm has stripped Vrin, and finally permitted Rusty and the others eager to do murder to finish off Vrin, who this time, does indeed stay dead.
Besides the ring that BB pulled off of him, he has some fine clothes, the breastplate and rapier, a weighty purse, and a pendant on a gold chain of some hands clasping some large rubies.
In the carriage, BB finds a hand crossbow and a small case that contains a recently emptied vial. It's a richly appointed interior, the carriage is probably worth a decent chunk intact, but would still have a lot of value if it were stripped of fittings and sold as scrap. There is a small lantern mounted on the wall that burns with a steady flame, though it throws no heat.
On the way back he thanks Shrink "Thanks for coming to help me, I hope none of my chaos surges have hurt you?"
Returning back to the villa grandpa first of all gives Black a pad on his back and gestures to his shoulder so Red can come and sit there. Still getting used to the fact that he cannot see, and that he uses his other senses to be able to know what is where, he is a bit shaky.
"S-S-so how is everything here? It looks like the chaos has left me, although I can 'see' in a weird way at the moment. I sure hope this effect is not permanent."
"Oh and look I can fly now"
he says as he flies around a bit, before settling on Black's back.
"That would be a nice extra ability I must say."
(The iridescent sheen stays on our bodies till we get 16 damage? So its kind of a temporary health of 16?)

"Let's bind him up, though it seems he's actually dead. That was an odd thing to see, his wounds closing even after he went down. I'm hoping it was an item he was wearing, and not something worse. Let's get the area swept for magic, and then identify the items to see if they're dangerous,"Patter says, glancing about and doing a pretty thorough investigation of Vrin, his carriage, and his stuff, though he tries not to touch the items directly.
Investigation: 6 plus psi bolstered knack: 4
He's trusting Ayen and the others to handle Big Bolt and Grandpa, and he's assuming the fires are out. They'd had worse scrapes, but this was a weird one. When he's checked the carriage and the body, he looks up.
BB slides out of the carriage without messing with anything and wanders off now that everyone is messing with the dead body to check out the rest of the battlefield.

"Hurt me? No, I don't think so. I did get covered by this slick thing and it doesn't get off. Slightly annoying but I think I'll manage."
When they're back, he listens to what Patter says and nods. "Alright, let's see if there's anything magical here, except for all of us." Ayen closes his eyes but he doesn't see darkness. Instead, he begins to see colours, which then form into shapes. When he opens his eyes, he can see both real colours and faint auras around himself, some of the others, and possibly more.
(If no one casts detect magic, then Storm would instead place the objects of interest into his pack to look into later.)
"I said hold." Storm snaps as Rusty sends another blast in. "You will be on privy duty for the next week. Now hold." He continues to strip the man, feeling each object for any telltale magical sense to it. He pays attention to whatever the glowing item is under his armor once he uncovers it.
By the time Storm gets him out of his armor and gear, it would seem it would have been the pendant that was doing the glowing, though it isn't currently, and does nothing as the squad finishes him off for good.
Shrink's new perceptions of the world pick up the accustomed signatures of gear your party members have long had, though Grandpa kind of hurts to look at right now, just a whole lot going on all at once. Shrink's own new 'skin' has a abjuration quality to it. The chunky ring on BB's hand gives off a moderately strong evocation signature, and the pendant that Storm is checking out gives off a mixture of necromancy and evocation, also moderately strong.

"Of what I can see, this pendant that you're holding, as well as that ring", he points at BB's hand, "are both magical. Both of them have an aura that reminds me of magic that creates effects, such as the ones used to heal or our favourable chaotic spell. The pendant also gives off a more sinister aura, however, messing with life and death itself. I don't like such kinds of magics. They're very unnatural. Other than these two, I don't see anything else out of the ordinary."
((While true that necromancy often is messing about with life and death, and any character could make their own decisions about what they consider to be distasteful and unnatural, spells from the necromancy school are not automatically what would generally be considered sinister or evil. For example, if one of you were to die, a strong enough cleric type could jump start you back to life with a spell from the necromancy school. If Ayen finds that unnatural, that's a character choice I'm here for! Just wanted to point that out in case that wasn't what you were intending.))
Sitting on Black, Grandpa hears the talking about the pendant, interested to know what it is exactly he asks (If Storm doesn't have the pendant, change name to who does have it)
"Can you give the pendant to me Storm, I might be able to find out what it is exactly"
When he gets the item grandpa starts investigating the pendant by feeling it and tinkering it with his Tinker tool's for a minute. (casting Identify)
