((Actually, I meant Ayen to be next to the commander. I probably wasn't very clear, as the only indication was his words. "I'm with the commander..."))
Ayen once more taps his staff on the ground, imbuing it with natural magic. He keeps walking next to the commander. Not much to do when no giant is within reach of his weapon...
With all the refugees down the rubble and heading for safety Verne turns towards the direction of his captain. Damn, I've stayed too long. At that thought he begins a run which soon turns into a pounce as he shifts into the form of a panther - shimmering black with a blue tail. Verne-panther moves (50ft) towards Ayen.
((Posted in advance to keep the turns moving in case I don't get a chance later))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grandpa moves at a slightly lower speed than the frontline trying to stay as close as possible, but not within 15ft (25ft movement max) and readies a fire bolt as well for when a giant gets into range and view.
Attack: 19 Damage: 14
Black stays at his side, while Red is ordered to move onto one of the roof closest to where grandpa ends his movement.

After just shrinking down, Bolt knows, she needs to grow again to face these enemies! For a second time in just a few minutes, she clutches her necklace and grows to her fighting size.
Then she advances as far as possible to get the best shot.
She knows these enemies are still far - and she better gets ready - readying a chaos bolt for damage 13 ((going with my signature lightning damage))
She keeps replaying the sighting of the giant she had from atop the tower. What type of giant may this have been? ((History)) 2
Rusty does his part to ensure success, as Bolt moves forward, growing in size as she gets into position. She's confident that these are hill giants. Big, dumb, and motivated by food... which is pretty much anything small enough for them to try to eat.
Bryn slips forward, curling around the side of the building.
((I know DD said that Storm might be sporadic and I can bot as needed, and Ayen said they were keeping pace with Storm, but I'll give until the morning before I advance them and roll it around to the giants.))
Storm marches down the street, Ayen following in his wake.
With bellows and heavy footfalls, the trio of giants surges forward, their heads and shoulders emerging from the haze clinging to the city street. One of the giants sprints to the fore, breaking into the open. However, they are all too far away for the held bolts to reach them, that massive size makes it tough to judge, but they are beyond 120 ft.
((Bolt, you'd lose the spell slot whether you cast it or not, so if you want to let it fizzle, it'd be -1 slot, but no need to roll the d20 for surge chance, or you could blast a building or cart or something, in which case roll the d20 for us.))
But apparently not too far away for the other two to hurl chunks of broken building at the member of the Forge that is obviously the biggest threat... because she's the biggest.
Rock Attack on Bolt: 9 Damage: 22 Rock Attack on Bolt: 9 Damage: 17
Both rocks miss, one smashing into the house Bolt is standing by, scattering her with stinging shards of rock and blasting rubble out the far wall, the roof slumping as it groans and settles, the other one sailing over her head to slam into the guardtower that until recently, had been occupied by captives.
Verne panther-shifts and pads up behind Ayen.
Randy sprints to the south to be able to possibly hit them from the side when they get close, activating his quarterstaff, though he has no real desire to get up close.
Patter races to the east-southeast, hugging the traversable terrain along what I assume is a line of debris to the south. Thirty feet of movement, and then another bonus action cunning action to dash 30 more feet, which should get him to that debris pile. He tries to land in a spot that's not obviously visible to where he can hear the giants (and maybe just barely see the giants?).
He lifts his palm up with a bit of fleece in it and closes it, the fleece disappearing into his component pouch, casting silent image 60 feet farther ahead, right in the middle of the avenue, which by my count should get the illusion just about in the center of the map.
Wild magic surge roll: 16
A bright red 15-foot dragonborn warrior manifests with a silent explosion of smoke. Clad in spiky armor, holding a war pick the size of a small telephone pole, breathing a bit of fire and smoke and sporting some truly impressive pointy horns at the top of his head, it takes a fighting stance and brings a free hand up to beckon to the giants in a "approach, if you dare" sort of gesture.
This is obviously an echo of Bolt's large form. Patter comes in over his telepathic bond to those three he's linked to (haven't said this time who that is but I'd imagine this is Forge leadership and any other stealthy members): "that big red one's mine, if that wasn't obvious... it might draw some fire and attention while we can get into position and take some swings."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Storm continues forward, casting a spell now... Three swirling versions of himself spring into existance around him, making it hard to tell which is him and which is not.
BB and Storm advance, the former hurrying ahead and taking cover, the latter surrounding himself with duplicates.
((The roll is only the d20 roll, triggering on a 1, doesn't automatically trigger a surge unless you have used Tides of Chaos for advantage on something.))
Grandpa mounts Black, after which Black dashes forward 80ft, maybe using 10ft that is difficult movement so a total of 70ft forward which should bring him at 120ft of the front giant. After which he casts a fire bolt at that giant, using tides of chaos for advantage:
Attack: 26 Damage: 14
BA command Red to dash, he will fly 60ft towards BB
(btw: how long does the temp hp from that silvery stuff last? indefinitely, or is it gone by now?:P)
