Kendes gathers both of the weapons, seeing the value of the scimitar at least, but mostly just wanting to prevent any type of weapon from potentially falling into any cultists' hands. He does pocket the amulet of Tiamat, feeling that it might be a helpful prop in any future ruses that might need to be conducted against the cult.
(OOC: If anyone wants the club or the scimitar -- it's a light 1d6 martial finesse slashing weapon -- just let me know. Otherwise it's money in the party pot.)
Once the team and rescued townsfolk have settled into relative safety, Kendes breaks off from the group to find Atala and Mhurn and catch up with them. He comes clean with them about his involvement with the cult to those two, and he tries to find a place to speak only to them privately. (OOC: Meaning if anyone wanted to eavesdrop...)
"Atala... Mhurn... I'm sorry you were both dragged into this mess. I feel like it's my fault somehow. Well, Valgas's fault. I never really understand what he was getting you... well, all of us... into, not until he was on his deathbed. But I can see now that it was a bad deal. I... I don't know why falling ill made my father suddenly grow a conscience, but he left it to me to clean up the mess we started to make. And I think this counts as part of it. You've got every right if you want to cut off any ties with me... I know my family's brought your caravan nothing but grief. But if you could continue to help these people out... whether it's bringing the survivors supplies, or helping them evacuate using your resources... you'd be doing everyone here a good turn, and giving me a fighting chance to make everything I've done wrong, right again. Please, I hope you'll consider sticking around to help the townsfolk out."
"It's so hard to believe. You were involved in the cult of the dragon!" Atala says. "We'll do what we can to help. I suppose we owe the townsfolk and you that much."
Mhurn speaks next. "If Valgas got us involved with these dragon cultists, I guess we had better do what we can to make things right." He looks at Kendes through narrowed eyes. "You had better fix what you've done. You have a lot to make amends for."

"We only did our duty to Greenest castellan, but I must commend the brave actions of my companions"
Evendur then marches up to the parapet to overwiew what remains of the the town but then realizing the burning buildings does not shed much light on the situation.
Perception with disadvantage to assess the situation in Greenest: 7
As Sir Evendur is standing on the parapet in an epic pose, his squire comes up behind him and a short discussion can be heard.
"Milord, you are back safe milord, Torm be blessed"
"Yes Randal, but I will soon have to ride out to face that dragon while there still is something left of Greenest to save."
"Yes milord, about that milord, it would seem as Bayard has come down with a sudden case of gout milord"
"Oh, are you sure Randal, that was a bit unexpected don´t you think"
"Yes milord, very unexpected milord, but I can assure you Bayard is quite unrideable milord. Maybe milord it is a sign from mighty Torm that you are to stay with your companions and keep the townsfolk safe milord."
Evendur notices that, while several buildings are on fire, most of the flames come from haystacks and barns. Governor Nighthill walks over to join Evendur in looking out over the town. "It will be a lot of work to rebuild and to recover our lost wealth," he says. "It is fortunate that you five were coming to this town when you were." While Nighthill talks, Evendur notices little flames waving around a building to the west, as if people were holding torches over there.
"Governor Nighthill, if I may ask you, that building yonder, the raiders seems to be gathering over there, could there be more townsfolk trapped there? My companions and I can go there and investigate if that is your wish Governor Nighthill."Evendur is clearly eager to perform more heroic deeds.
Valas tells Evendur and the others "it will take all night for me to recover my arcane energies, but I am otherwise alright if we can save more townsfolk."
Amongst the party but to no one in particular Valas ponders aloud while cleaning off his bloody sword with Prestidigitation"the last few kills were easier than the first, as if I'm more numb to it already." "I certainly hope that, if that is the way of things, I am not completely devoid of all appreciation for another's life by morning. It is easy to justify now amidst an attack on so many innocents, but I'd imagine that line could blur just as easily as the first."
Kosef sits not far from Valas. He says, "Yes. My work, and my family's work, on the gallows usually followed a fairly fair and just process by which guilt was determined." He pauses, considering his great sword. "None of that here and now. The word and authority of the Governor that we are acting honorably has to be enough." He eyes the Governor. "As little as we know him, he seems interested in protecting his people rather than being cruel to them or increasing his own wealth. Hopefully, that's actually the way things are."
He will take a cloth and other cleaning gear from his backpack and begin cleaning his sword. "How long should we rest?" he says. After the blade is clean, he takes out a whet stone and begins sharpening it.
"I know... I feel like I was caught as off-guard as the both of you were. But it's my fault for not questioning father's work. I knew something was wrong... but I never thought it would be..." He gesticulates helpessly. "... this." To Mhurn, he replies, "I'll do right by these people... or die trying. It's all I can. Thank you both for helping."
Returning to the others, he finds Kosef and Valas and sits down heavily next to them, running a hand through his white dreadlocks. "What a mess," he groans, leaning back and slinging one arm over his eyes to try to rest and recover from his wounds. He does lift his arm up to peer at the group curiously, his eyes tracking across the others. "Where's Sir Evendur gone off to now, anyway?"
Kendes, Kosef and Valas is approached by a man they recall being the squire of Sir Evendur, coming down from the parapet.
"Excuse me Sirs, my master Sir Evendur sent me to inform you that he is on the parapet with Governor Nighthill if you would like to join them there. It´s hopefully nothing but there seems to be some suspicious raider activity at some building to the west."
Kipio looks up at Escobert, "Yes please lead me to the wounded, I will help best I can." As he passes by Kosef and Valas' discussion he stops for a moment and says quietly, "Trust me young Valas when you witness true evil and remorseless violence.... you will see how far away you are from such madness." He will then step away towards the wounded.
(OOC He will use 1 cure wounds spell if there is a serious injury, otherwise he will use a medicine check)
Kendes sits up with a weary groan. "Rendell? Randy? I'm sorry, but what was your name again? It all got very confusing in the surprise of the moment..."
He wearily rises to his feet and dusts himself off. "Don't tell me Sir Evendur found us more trouble already..." He sighs, then nods, remembering his promise to his father... and Atala and Mhurn, now. "Alright, just point me to the stairway," he tells the squire, ascending the to the parapet once he's been given the directions.
"Randal Sir, terribly sorry for any confusion I might have caused Sir. The stairway is just over there good Sir" The squire then exits to the courtyard to take care of Bayards sudden gout.
Nighthill stares at the flames Evendur spotted for a moment, and then says, "It looks like there are people with torches over by Orel's house. It makes sense. He had a lot of valuables. I'll keep an eye on it." He continues to stare over the parapet. "Things seem quiet enough now. If you and your companions need a rest, now might be a good time."
The wounded Kipio tends to have a variety of injuries. Several have broken bones from well-aimed kobold stones, and others are suffering from burns, but none of them are in desperate need of the immediate healing of magic. Kipio is able to tend to their injuries. Though one child recoils away from him in fear, the other people are glad of his help, and he is thanked many times. Escobert leaves, and comes back with some rabbit and two cups of wine. He offers the rabbit and the cups to Eadyan and Kipio, saying, "You two have earned a fancy meal."
Valas gives Kosef a nod of appreciation. "Thank you Kosef. Let us only hope that what is right and wrong is at least as clear as it is on this day, and that a Governor Nighthill can always help us justify such actions."
When Kipio addresses the subject, Valas nods silently for several seconds before responding. "This would seem to be most wise Kipio. When our swords can no longer simply remain sheathed, perhaps thorough contemplation of where we fall in relation to such evil will have to suffice. I shall think on what tenants will provide my personal bearings on the matter. I do hope that delta is always as clear as you suggest."
Valas will go with any others who are seeking out the governor and Sir Evendur.
"Yes I agree Governor Nighthill, saving lives should be our main priority."
When Kendes reaches the parapet Evendur turns to him and continues.
"Apologies brave Kendes, apparently it was only a lot of valuables being looted, but the Governor and myself agreed on that it is not of our concern right now."
Then turning back to the governor.
"Thank you Governor Nighthill, we will take this time to recuperate our strength to better defend the keep should the raiders mount an attack."
Evendur then descends the stairs and takes a seat by the others. Seeing that from the courtyard tending to Bayard, Randal tries to find some wine and some meat for his master and his companions, and trying to take care of any other needs they may have while resting.
"I'd rather they were looting valuables than outright killing people,"Kendes says, taking a look over the town to observe the commotion. "Things can be replaced, but life is priceless. Let's hope their greed will be our salvation." He sighs, and gives a weary nod to the governor, before following back down and finding a place to rest and properly tend to his wounds.
(Kendes will take a short rest and use a hit dice. Since 1d8+2 is a minimum of 3 hp back, he's back to full health again.)
Kosef will rest for a moment as well. He searches for a open, quiet space and, having told the others where he is, takes a quick nap. He lays on his back, sword on his chest and parallel with his body.
(OOC: He is also back to full health and will be ready for what's next as soon as the others are.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
After, hopefully, getting something from his squire to eat and drink, Evendur also gets some shut-eye, sitting with his back to the wall of the keep, dreaming of a glorious combat against the blue dragon still soaring over his head. While sleeping, he reagains 3 hp and is still on 10/11 but that will have to do for now, ready for new heroics. While he sleeps Randal tends to Sir Evendurs weapons and other equipment best he can.
Kendes' search reveals nothing of value, though the cultists did have weapons (a scimitar and a club).

As discretely as he can, he will put one of the gnarled roots from his arm into the bowl as well.
