An hour passes. Some of you nap, and nothing very interesting happens. Suddenly Escobert rushes down from the parapet, and says, "If you're rested enough, the governor could use your help again. Those torches have moved on from Orel's house, and it looks like they're going to burn down the mill. If they do, we'll lose our grain stockpile."
Valas had been sitting cross legged, his back straight, his eyes closed at times. He didn't necessarily appear to be resting per say, as much as perhaps... thinking?
At Escobert's alarm, Valas was quick to his feet, remarking "burning a mill would not seem to fit with the apparent motivation of collecting valuables." He will wait for any others very briefly before heading up to the top of the keep to get a quick explanation of the layout and where they need to head.
Kipio has been spending the time wrapped in cloak enjoying time sitting with a full belly. He looks up at the call to arms from Escobert, hearing Valas echo his own thoughts, "They seemed to have given into a pure lust for destruction. This seems more like an unruly mob than a raid targeting valuables." He stands up with audible cracks coming from his stiff back and legs. He joins Valas heading up to the top of the keep.
Governor Nighthill is staring out to the south west. The torches are gathered around a different building, located near the water. When you all arrive, Nighthill says, "It looks like they are going to burn down the mill. I'm trying to assemble some defenders, but that will take time. I need you five to hold them off until I can send my guards." He pauses for a moment, and then adds, "I know this is asking a lot, but we need that grain."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hah, take that foul dragon..." ...and then Evendur brusquely wakes up from his epic dream standing up in one motion "Yes, ready to fight the dragon castellan" Still dazed after the nap Evendur then realizes his longsword is missing and shouts "Randal, my sword, I need it do defeat the dragon" A moment later Randal bursts into the room holding his masters sharpened blade. "Yes milord, here it is milord" Evendur grabs it and follows the others up to the battlement.
Listening to Governor Nighthill Evendur then boldly exclaims "We shall fight our way through their ranks Governor, and hold position by the mill fighting to the last man. Mighty Torm will stand with us." As he is not quite suicidal Evendur quickly tries to assess if they could reach the mill the shortest route without to much resistance, which he would much prefer, or if they should sneak out the secret tunnel once more.
Perception with disadvantage: 4
(OOC: Which building on the map are the torches gathered around?)
Evendur observes that the building appears to be 500 ft in a straight line, but that would mean passing through the town. Taking the tunnel would place the group many feet east, and would add another 500 ft to the journey (1000 ft total).
OOC: The building is the one right above the arrow on the giant N.
(OOC: Thanks but does Evendur spot a lot of raider activity between the keep gate and the mill. If I´m correct in my interpretation of the map we could exit the keep gate, go down the hill a short stretch to the bridge to the southwest and then follow the river to the mill. That should take us the shortest way without coming to close to any buildings where I suppose most of the looting and pillaging is taking place.)
"Perhaps I should call on additional help to scout ahead for danger"remarks Valas, snapping his fingers with a sharp crack. There is a small flash and suddenly a small brown owl appears out of nowhere. "Xymor, my friend, if you would aid us, please scout ahead between here and the mill there, and return to me if you spot danger in our path. And do steer clear of the dragon in the vicinity, brave Xymor."
Xymor tilts his head once at Valas and then flies off, circling the keep once and then heading off in the direction of the mill. If he sees enemy squads near the group's path to the mill he will come back to Valas and communicate the threat telepathically.
There are a few raiders in the town. Evendur can see some figures moving around. There are three groups visible between the keep and the mill. One of the groups is near the keep, so exiting through the main door would mean likely encountering them. Going to the river would allow the group to avoid the additional groups in town. However, the reeds by the river offer too much cover to see if there are people there or not.
"Yes brilliant wise Valas, perhaps Xymor can help us to maneuver around the raiders. Governor, make your men ready to close the gate after us as we leave, and Torm watch over you til we return"Evendur prepares to leave for the mill making his way down to the gate.
"If we go by the river, I could just swim underwater and see who might be there to make sure the path is safe. It's something of a natural talent for tritons," Kendes offers.
Xymor spots many people between the mill and the keep. Six humans with scimitars are gathered near the keep. About halfway between the mill and the keep there is another group of six humans with scimitars. Closer to mill is a group of four humans with scimitars and one spear-carrying dwarf. The owl also catches sight of 6 kobolds moving near the mill. They appear to be pursuing four humans. The mill itself is being attacked by six humans.
"Owls were considered a special treat among the Yellow-Foot," Kipio says watching the bird fly away. "The reeds by the river are tall enough for me to hide easily. They offer the most cover for us."
(OOC: Oh boy, I don't have enough HP for this! haha)
Valas gives Sir Evendur and the others the scouting report. "Perhaps we could at least go around some of the groups between here and there, for fear of reaching the mill in poor fighting shape."
(OOC: Can Xymor help us at least avoid the middle groups? Not sure if the party will choose to use the tunnel or charge the group near the keep. Valas can be convinced either way since time is an issue on this one.)
OOC: While Xymor is within 100 ft of you, you can receive telepathic guidance on how to avoid enemies, so yes, the middle groups could be avoidable with the owl's help. However that might mean taking some detours and adding distance to the trip.

"We promised to help Greenest. We should keep our promises," Kosef says. He joins the others.

"An owl," Kosef says. "Impressive."
He peers over the city as well. "Making our way to the river, depending on the information Valas's friend brings us, seems best to me," he says.
