"Now, just to be clear, Grim just growled at a Worg and made it calm the f down?" Ceo asks with an incredulous look at Grim feeding the Worg.
OOC: Did Grim just get a pet Worg?
"There lives inside of me this wild and vicious animal that I wrestle with every hour of every day to keep under control. Sometimes it'll look out through my eyes at someone" Grim says with a sly smile "I've been told that the experience can be . . . disconcerting"
(In the interest of fun and the rule of cool I am going to have Grim roll a series of Animal Handling checks when I call for them. This is due to the unusual combat it survived where it's allies just dropped. If he collects 3 successes before he collects 3 failures then he has formed a bond with the worg.)
As you toss the worg some meat make an Animal Handling check with advantage vs. DC 13.
(OOC "It's just such a well worn trope that I couldn't resist! The scary looking good guy facing ferocious animal and the animal figures out which one of them is Alpha. Chronicles of Riddic, "It's an animal thing."
Really wasn't expecting to roll that well (certainly wouldn't have expected based on some of the rolls I've been getting lately, but that's a different (whiny) story). So I thought "Let's take this 20 out for a spin and see what kind of mileage it gets.)
The 3 successes or 3 failures thing will work sort of like death saves. If you get 3 failures it means the worg has turned feral and must be put down. If you roll a nat 1 and it already has 1 or more failures it gets a surprise attack against you. (A 'biting the hand that feeds it' sort of thing.) If you roll a nat 20 it will form a bond of friendship with the creature.
(OOC Oh, more than fair. I'm excited to see how this plays out)
Grim and Syvis can each roll Perception checks for the 1st watch. (if you don't want to get long winded with a description of the camp maybe just post 1 item or feature of the camp that you might interact with in some way on your watch. that way each watch can add a feature and help flesh out the camp site... if you want.)

Syvis casually throws a goodberry for Grim's worg. After setting the fire, he throws his bow and arrow behind his back and finds a large tree by the campsite that he can climb up on, and sits down on one sturdy branch that he can keep an eye out from above.
Helping to pick out a good campsite, Randall looks for one that is relatively flat and on higher ground than surrounding terrain in case of rain. He also looks for a good location for observing the sunrise.

Grim watches Syvis throwing a goodberry to the Worg and it makes him smile. He's just going to sit back against a tree, keep eyes out and watch the Worg.
The worg snaps the goodberry out of the air and swallows it whole. Shortly after it let's out a big yawn. And shortly after that it is asleep.
The 1st watch is otherwise uneventful. (Is Grim taking his 6 hours of sleep to benefit from the long rest?)
Syvis (and maybe Grim if he foregoes his long rest?) are on 2nd watch and can make their Perception check.

Syvis enjoys the mostly silent company of Grim and his worg. He takes the time to sharpen every single one of his arrows, after two hours is up he reminds Grim, "Go to sleep.", and finishes up his second watch.
Ceo is on 3rd watch and can roll a Perception check.

Brother Randall of Lathander pulls on his armor and makes sure his shield and mace are close at hand, then tends to the fire and quietly sets up breakfast for cooking—after sunrise of course. Thanks to his setup last night, he is prepared as the first rays of sunrise touch the tops of the trees.
Sighing happily, the priest performs his morning rituals as Lathander’s golden light slowly descends praying, then rising to his feet and opening his arms wide as the warming sunlight bathes his face. Turning and smiling at Bow, he looks around at the newly lit landscape, transformed by his God’s holy light.

As always, the pre-dawn light wakes Grim, momentarily confused, then annoyed with himself how deeply he slept all things considered. He sees Ceo and the Worg snuggled together, asleep and it brings a smile to his face.
Grim begins his own morning ritual, finding joy in watching the sunrise, wanting to share it with the Worg and the still sleeping Ceo.
For Ceo
You wake up to Grim talking softly to the Worg "my name is Grim, Grim Greycastle, Grim . . . Greycastle is where I was raised . . . the sunrise always fills my heart with such joy." the Worg doesn't seem to respond.
You hear him speaking again, but it sounds like one side of a conversation, with a lot of "I don't understand . . . " and "but of course." and ending with "I am , as always, your humble servant."
Making your way through the rest of the wood to it's northern border takes about half a day. At the end of that journey you emerge from the woods atop an embankment that looks out over the plains. There is a massive goblin horde assembled below containing foot-soldiers, archers, and worg-riders. There must be many hundreds of them.
The odd thing is they are not heading toward the forest or the town that lays beyond it. They are marching east.
When the worg sees the other worg-riders in the distance it becomes difficult to calm it's restlessness.
(Make another Animal Handling check with disadvantage vs. DC 14.)
