(OOC - wow 2 crits - guess there goes all our good rolls for the rest of the game)

I'm going to advance and attavk with both of my long swords.

OOC to Fire: Yes you are fine using focus for Chromatic Orb.

OOC to Ozelotl: Yes you can swap that out.

OOC to Argent: Are you taking the Attack of Opportunity from the creature to move backwards?

Round Summary So Far:

Myth's arrow finds a soft squishy place between the plates of armor that make up the Ankheg's exoskeleton and the beast lets out a horrendous screech of pain.

Ruvenel fires his Shocking Bolt spell but it flies wide and blows the bark off a nearby tree leaving a scorch mark on an otherwise untouched wood.

Guldrum's overhead axe swing lops off the front portion of the Ankheg's leg.

Ristra advances on the beast and swings her two swords but finds no purchase on the creatures hide.

Ankheg's Turn:

The Ankheg, literally on it's last legs bites wildly at Guldrum, attempting to grab him in it's mandibles and chomp down on him.

Attack: 12 Damage: 17 (If it hits Guldrum will be Grappled [DC 13 to escape on your turn])

(OOG: It missed! :)  )

Guldrum rolls out of the way as the Ankhegs mandibles start to close around him.

Hjolmond Sheildshine rushes forward and lets out a battle-cry that only a dwarf can yell.

"You leave my friends alone!" Hjol swings his hammer at the creature, hoping to fell it or to bring it closer to its grave.

(OOC - sure I guess I will take one then - I didn't realize it was right next to me - but can't use my bow that close)

OOC: I apologize, I posted the map to sort of help with that. Were you able to access the map?

Ankhegs Reactionary attack on Myth, taking place before Hjol's turn: Attack: 11 Damage: 15

(OOC - I saw there was a map somewhere earlier - maybe it needs to be on the campaign page too then - because I only saw it when we were sitting around the fire - plus he missed me anyway :P had he hit me I'd have been dead)

(OOC - I understand - but I didn't catch WHERE it showed up (apparently next to me) so therefore I was unaware that moving would provoke an AoO before he said anything - so I took my chances that he'd miss me with his opportunity attack :) )

As Hjol swings his hammer down he catches the back of the creatures head and brings it, along with his hammer, to the ground. The Ankheg's head bounces lifelessly off the ground while it's body seems to move about independently for a moment before finally collapsing a few feet away. 

OOC: Good Job everyone, quick encounter and everyone gets 65 xp! 

After the creature falls dead Holly begins to look the group over, she approaches Guldrum, "Did the beast get you?"

Myth will nudge it with his foot and retrieve his arrow.

"So we've got these to look forward too eh?"

Ruvenel pokes the thing with a stick. "Ya think ya can make armor outa this?"

Guldrum will let out a deep guttural laugh. "HA! I've eaten worse things before I am fine, thank you for your concern miss. Now we eat and drink!"  
Guldrum will walk back over to his cup. "Ne'er Spilt a drop" with a smile on his face before he drinks it.

"I can make armor out of almost anything. If the material will hold up, I can smith it." Hjol says with some pride as he notches his warhammer. He looks over the creatures body to see if he can, in fact, make armor out of its exoskeleton.

"Moradin has blessed me this day!"

"The hide is good, but I have heard of people taking the acid gland, if you can get to it." Holly says as she sets about scouting the nearby treeline for more creatures. 

OOC: If you want to make a DC 13 dex check and spend an hour to do it you can remove the hide or the acid gland. If you fail the check by 5 or more for the acid glad you'll take some damage as it spills out over your hands. The hide could be fashioned into a hide armor equivalent or shield with some downtime. 

((OOG Can I make that with Advantage? I have multiple toolsets... Leatherworker's, smith,  jewelers...lol))

OOC: Not with advantage but I will allow your proficiency bonus to be added to the Dex check due to your proficiency in tools.
