Tauzan quickly moves to try to intercept the assassin. (Presuming he notices and can react fast enough. Not sure of distance - would use normal 50 ft move if possible. Otherwise would try to go faster. )
(Does Angus need to roll any damage from his landing? Angus probably wants to seize the stone back, so is that a melee weapon attack, or a simple athletics check contested vs dex? Or maybe he'll just grapple the assassin...)
Athletics check 14
Snagging it would be a dex check, slightly of hand, by my reckoning. That's why I had the war chanter cast enhance ability as cat's grace instead of bull's strength (incidentally, proficiency in athletics makes that number higher fir the hobgiblin than the Dex was]. I'd say contest with Str or Dex (makes sense to me. Keep away vs leggo my Eggo) Dex to hold on to the artifact. 13.

Tauzen, spotting the assassin as she emerges from the shadows into the distant darkness quickly closes the distance to intercept her.
<now what? Hobgiblins are up pending Tauzen's action>

(I'm assuming Tauzen just moved 50 ft and his his attacks. Also, he would have quickly searched for his Khopesh after the truce, before we took the rest.) Attack using his Action: Khopesh Attack: 17 Damage: 9 slashing Khopesh Attack: 19 Damage: 7 slashing
He will use 1 ki for Flury of Blows with Bonus Action: Unarmed Attack: 20 Damage: 7 bludgeoning Unarmed Attack: 23 Damage: 10 bludgeoning
If any of the attacks hit, he uses 1 ki for Stunning Strike: When you hit with a melee weapon attack, you can spend 1 ki point to make the target stunned until the end of your next turn if it fails a CON saving throw (DC 17).
Agile Parry - If you make an unarmed strike as part of the Attack action on your turn and are holding a kensei weapon, you gain a +2 bonus to AC until the start of your next turn. (AC 22)

<Searching for the kopesh would probably est into the short rest. It had inky been the hour, I think. Something to consider. I was contemplating how that would affect Hamish, but given that his weapon is a giant axe and he kindo of towers over it... perhaps the height advantage could help tauzen locate the kopesh as well.>
The hobgoblin iron shadow assassin, though nimble, fails to avoid any of Tauzen's attacks.
(ooc: can you reroll the hobgoblin's Con save in a separate post without any edits please)
It's just added on. Thr reroll detrctor is hyper sensitive. But let's just do this:
Hobgoblin assassin Con Save save: 4. The hibgoblin is incapacitated (cant move, use actions or reactions and auto fails dex and str saves a d attacks on it have DA).
Still holding the artifact, she vanishes and reappears 30ft away (shadow jaunt, bonus action). The war chanter rides past the assassin and grabs the stone, cha ting the chant of dread as jt does so, causing Tauzen unease (DC13 Wis save or frightened until end of creatures next turn).
She slashes at Tauzen with her longsword twice, once with the addition of an arcane word that imbues thundering vibrations to the booming blade.
Regular Unable to parse dice roll.
Booming 12 for 3.
The captain rushes down. The hill toward rhe group, greatsword in hand. He dashes toward the warchanter, the assassin and Tauzen.
The warlock casts wall of fire around the trio of hobgiblins. Flames encircle the group, heat radiating outward. (Tauzen (closest) and other PCs are more than 10ft from the wall, so no save required at this time.)
<2 rounds left to recover the artifact (for those who wish to attempt it.) PCs are up>
(ooc: not to be that guy, but under bonus actions it states: You choose when to take a bonus action during your turn, unless the bonus action's timing is specified, and anything that deprives you of your ability to take actions also prevents you from taking a bonus action.)
(all this means is everything above occurs 30 feet closer to us because no shadow jaunt, if you allow?)
(not trying to be a pain, honestly... but we only have 2 rounds left and Calner is probably out of range to interact in any way since he went South to exit the cloud, putting him even further away from the hobgoblins fleeing north?)
<"Today I found out..."
I was already pretty blasé about turning a success into a failure. I hadn't even considered at first that incapacitated doesn't explicitly say BA. Retcon to my original idea...>
The war chanter takes the stone from the assasin as she rides past, and co to ues on, leaving the assassin behind. Still within 30ft., the chant of fear is still audible (ad above) and the warlocks wall of fire now encircles only the war chanter (& her horse) and the captain, who dashed.
The assassin is not inside the wall of fire and is stunned.
<I'm using abstract distances so everyone csn reach what they want to if I think it's reasonable and even though there's an opaque cloud on the field it's not interfering with anyone's line of sight unless they're in it.>
Marlyth will conjure a pair of fey spirits with the help of the spirits of nature (Conjure Animals). She will summon one fey near Calner which takes the form of a Giant Vulture and picks him up to transport the sorcerer near the opponents.
Another fey spirit appears beside Angus and assumes the form of a Riding Horse... neighing and encircling his assigned rider.
"They're unfair combatants. Don't let their flashy movements fool you."
Walks will chase after the assassin as well then bunny hop for extra distance if needed.
Then she will cast Insect Plague20 damage DC 16 CON save for half. If any allies enter the area after that, she will drop the spell. Otherwise keep it up as long as just the assassin is in it.

<You can be as close as you need to be, you're fine. If it's relevant, the hobgoblin is fleeing southwest, due west ... away from the serpent hills and deeper into their own territory within the high moors.>
Tabaqui will move and BA dash to where the stunned assassin is on the ground. He will then unceremoniously stab the fallen hobgoblin with his rapier. "This is for the betrayal" he says.

War chanter Str save 7
The hobgoblon captain shouts vitriol in goblinood attempting to intimidate the caster (LA; DC13 Wis or become frightened until the end of the hobgoblin's next turn. Prior success dies not grant immunity)
(How high are Calner &the Vulture at end of turn? Max is 60ft at time of casting TK if directly overhead. Overhead or elsewhere? )

(Tauzan WIS Save vs chant of dread: 12)
Again frightened Tauzan initially keeps away from the war chanter.
He will use his Action to use Stillness of Mind to end the frightened condition.
He will move towards the east chanter with the artifact, staying clear of the wall of fire of needed. (Not sure where his move falls in relation to that ending. )
(Note - Tauzan initially failed the Save, so I'm just going with that.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Round 3
Angus will prod the horse into a dead-on gallop straight at the dismounted warchanter. He summons his divine energy to cast compelled duel on the chanter (WIS save DC 15) as a bonus action. Whether the spell succeeds or fails, he will make the mounted attack on his target at advantage (Mounted Combatant feat).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
{been using side initiative, hobgoblins 3rd round actions in this and following post precedes Angus'}
As the wall of flame recedes, the elite captain roars in anger as he swings his greatsword at Angus (LA) as he approaches the horse and hobgoblins (7 for 8 and looks skyward to find the vulture dangling Calner overhead, then throws a javelin at the vulture 9 for 9. The Warlock casts a pair of eldritch blasts at the vulture 21 for 12, 15 for 9.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Both the eldritch blasts and the javelin find their mark, striking the great scavenger in rapid succession. The captain says something to the war chanter in goblin. Based on his gesticulations and tone coupled with her terrified response, the message seems to be that there will be consequences for the chanter if she doesn't get that stone back. She draws her longbow and takes aim at the bird 17 for 8. As the arrow sails through the air toward its feathered target, she already begins to utter the first syllables of the chant of cunning. She knocks a second arrow and quickly lets it fly as the captain continues to yell fiercely (25 for 5).
