The party finishes off the last Kobold! Kiari and others looking at the mules would find possessions similar to the ones they recovered in Greenest. The danger seems to have stopped for now, but the trail clearly continues to the south. What do you do now adventurers?
With the enemies down, Thaddeus slings his crossbow over a shoulder and begins searching through the bodies of the cultists. Seeing the mules loaded with gear he raises a question to others.
”What do we do with this stuff? Take the mules with us? Send someone back to Greenest with it?”
Travis wipes his blade clean on the clothes of a fallen foe and returns it to its sheath. He stows the shield of Greenest as well.
He considers the professor's question, unsure of the best course of action. He looks back down at the cultist he just smeared with blood. "Perhaps we could use the cultists' robes as we travel, perhaps even the mules, and if our enemies spot us, they will assume we are their allies?"
Kirari smiles at Travis' idea of the robes, then wonders. "As long as it's them we encounter. If we'd encounter a group of robed figures with these mules, we'd likely attack like we just did. It might be a risky idea, but I'm willing to take it. Hopefully if they have prisoners we could send them back with the mules if they are still fit enough it sounded like they did from how they were speaking at the challenge. If not, it seems the thing to do to have one of us head back with them."
She looks thoughtful a moment, "We should head down quickly though while we have the element of surprise. With these mules and appropriately robes, they'll likely greet us with open arms if not reprimanded for straggling so far behind."
The professor grins at Travis’ suggestion. “Yes… that’s an excellent idea. I can put on the robes and masks of one of these cultists and should be able to impersonate them fairly well…. Didn’t I hear one of you make a request for a disguise kit back at the keep? Maybe we could use the robes and use some make-up or whatnot to mask our appearances even more?”
Aside from their robes and masks, the cultist's are carrying slings, scimitars, and rations. There is also a (mostly) cooked chicken on the cooking fire. The Kobolds each have slings and daggers. As luck would have it, the robes would fit the party!
Kirari seeing the direction of the group going to disguises, moves quickly to strip the enemy of their useful gear dragging them over to the shelter to hide them lest anyone approach before they are ready. She lays out robes, masks, slings, scimitars and rations from the cultists; then the slings and daggers from the kobolds. Moving to turn the awkwardly roasting chicken periodically until its done. "Who should wear the Robes?" She says looking to the group.(only cultists were wearing so 4 sets?)
She picks out an extra sling, a dagger and a scimitar strapping them to her belt (for potential prisoner's use), and splits the rations among them. (how many days rations are found?) Once done, she seats herself a moment, pulls a chicken leg off the awkwardly roasted thing, plucks a couple feathers off of it and takes a bite. "Can't have the poor thing dying in vain." She says looking to the others, and spitting another feather piece to the side. "Its decent." She adds waving the chicken leg a little before her. "There's more. We should eat while we can."
Hoping her limited Medicine can help her determine that the Chicken is safe to eat.
The professor approaches the gear laid out and chooses one set of cultist gear that would fit him best. “I’ll wear one of the disguises. If we run into trouble let me do the talking.” He then pulls the robes over his armor and puts a mask on.”Have we heard them name anything or anyone in charge? Is there a dragon or deity they all praise?”
A rare smile crosses Travis's face at the reaction to his proposal. "I can lead a mule and stay quiet," he says. "And I shall keep my shield out of sight until it is needed."
To the professor's question he replies: "I believe we heard them saying 'Hail Tiamat' at least once."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thaddeus raises an eye at Travis’ comment. He then roughens up his voice a bit and makes a few attempts at the proclamation. “Hail Tiamat!”… “HAIL TIAMAT!”…. “Hail Tiamat.”
Kirari rises to her feet seeing the others ready to proceed and throws a cloak and mask on. She pulls the cultist necklace out of her pocket and passes it up to Althax. "We've seen them wearing these too. I've kept one in case we needed it. Doesn't appear magical, just symbolic."
Cale answers Thaddeus's question about the disguise kit: "That was me, Prof, but I'm not sure it will suit us here - it's more for impersonating a specific person or hiding my face from people who might know it. Having said that..."
He looks at Travis: "...the Champion of Greenest here might be a bit of a celebrity to these guys, they just watched him clean the floor with their bossman. You want me to stick a fake face on you, Trav?"
He heads over to where Kiari is tucking into the chicken and declares "Yass, free chicken!" before tucking into a portion of liberated poultry.
Travis considers Cale's offer. "I suppose that is a good idea,"he says. "Unless you all want to pretend to be cultists who have captured the Champion of Greenrest?"
He laughs. "But perhaps that would not be believable."

Kirari grins as Cale bites into a piece of chicken, "What out for those feathers, they really weren't very good at this." Sticking to the edges of it herself she studies the chicken to look for any chance she hasn't been able to fully salvage it from the Kobold's cooking. medicine10
She passes everyone a day's rations and puts the remainder in her pack having forgotten to consider her low rations in town. "This will bring me to 6 days rations, should have bought some in town. Should anyone else be as low as I, I'm happy to split."
"Travis would likely be easily spotted either way, most of the enemy group having watched the fight. I'd strongly suggest either captive or disguised. Being weakened by his exchange with their champion, it might be possible?" She considers aloud appreciating Travis' humor. "Otherwise I could volunteer? Orcish endurance can take quite a bit of punishment. I'd hate to have our own champion compromised."
“We also have the town shield to consider. Travis didn’t use it during the battle but it does have the town crest… we may have to act as if we looted it or something.”
Kirari nods, "Yes we should bring the Mules. It could only help with the disguise. Perhaps we should strap the Greenest shield in plain view on the mules like a piece of loot? I mean, Travis would be using it if not a captive?" (chicken ok?)

The professor will keep his crossbow ready… jump even as he sweeps from left to right, looking for a target.

@Kiari you would find 8 rations good for that many meals among the cultists, and there only seem to be 4 robes in the camp.
If folks want to do a quick Medicine or Survival check to see if the chicken is okay to eat (being it was prepared by Kobolds!), that would be okay
The mules seem unaffected by what has been transpiring, but their ears perk up when they hear the professor's practice lines of "Hail Tiamat!"

With his mouth full, "not sure I fancy wearing robes to be honest. Anyway, are we heading South then? And why don't we take the mules with us?"
