The professor slowly climbs up the earthen ramp after Escobert. He responds to Inglenook’s comment. “I doubt they’d leave the egg behind but we will probably have to investigate and look for it anyway.”
After scrambling to the top he looks out towards the cultist camp. 8 Perception
Pleased with the results of the disguise, Kirari smiles then remembers to credit her Goddess and does so solemnly with a quick whispered prayer.
They travel the distance towards the camp peacefully, but nearing it she slows, crouching. "Here, there and there! There's tracks everywhere. Humanoid and Kobold alike, with wagons. But most headed away from Greenest. Lots of them. Within the last 12 hours I'd say." Realizing that the others must soon be spotting them too. She watches as Escobert climbs up for a better view and announces most are gone then she asks just loud enough for him to see. "Do you think we could handle the remaining? And yes, any prisoners left behind?"

Travis moves up the slope with the others, trudging along in his heavy armor but managing to keep up. He nods with what seems to be satisfaction when he sees the enemy has broken camp. At least this part of the enemy forces is moving away from the town. But who knows what they might be up to? Certainly no good.
His gray eyes scan the area, trying to see if there's anything worth moving in on -- prisoners to be rescued, key supplies to be seized, dragon eggs to be confiscated, etc.
Cale is impressed by Kiari's work disguising Travis, commenting: "Wow, be careful, you nearly made him pretty! I don't want to be relegated to 'the sneaky one' in our group's bachelor league table"
Spotting the tracks and joining the others up the slope, he scans the area and spots the kobolds clearing up: "Shall we clear these out and then get a proper look around?"
Kirari grins at Cale's comment then says, "I'm just wondering what those guys left in camp are going to do if they spot him staring down at them. The sunlight does sort of give him a commanding presence."
"Aye," says Escobert to Inglenook as he frowns, "I was not expecting this and do not see anything that would look like the pen for the prisoners ye all mentioned. I hope they are all right."
The wind is picking up, which swirls the professor's cloak about him and keeps him from getting a proper look at camp. Others would see that the Kobolds seem to be moving from the fence back and forth to the plateau at the east.
Travis is able to follow the motion, and it is unmistakable to him: the Kobolds are walking to and from the cave he visited with the prof. a couple days earlier. He also recognizes a prisoner or two getting shouted at by a bossy Kobold at the fence nearest to them. The guard tower from earlier is almost entirely disassembled, but a human rider is headed in the party's direction!
Travis quickly points out to the others what he has seen, particularly noting that the kobolds seem to be doing something inside the cave. He backs away from the top of the ridge, hoping he won't be spotted. Then, he realizes he really won't be able to hide and stands his ground, waiting to see what the rider does, wondering if he'll be able to be a convincing cultist given his excellent disguise. He stands tall, hand on the hilt of his sword, the other hand raised as he has seen the cultists do, ready to deliver a nice "Hail Tiamat" as needed.
He hopes his presence will draw the rider's attention away from those who are attempting to hide.
The professor looks around at the others and then the approaching rider. “Well, let’s see if we can pull this off. Ready your weapons in case this doesn’t work.”
He raises a hand to the approaching rider and boldly steps towards him, acting as if they are supposed to there. A group returning to camp. He prepares a “Hail Tiamat!” To greet the rider.
While the rest of the party is standing on the plateau, Cale's cultist robes swirl, and then it is like he was never there at all.
The rider approaches the group and gives a halfhearted "Hail Tiamat" and somewhat rolls his eyes at Travis and the Professor. He is dressed as the other mercenaries you met in Greenest and is not wearing cult garb nor rank insignia. He has hunting tools hanging from his saddle. "Did you all forget something back at camp?" he asks the group. "Or has the plan changed and more of you are coming back? You better tell the kobolds since they have been working all day with the prisoners to move the operation inside the cave. All I know is that I get paid for each deer I bring back to feed you lot."
The cultist Looks down at the mercenary and frowns at his disrespect. “I find your lack of faith, disturbing. Our business is our own and I see no reason to explain myself to the likes of you.” And he sneers at the mercenary. “Soon you will beg to be one of our members as we take control of this world. But for now, I have urgent business with Mondath. Has he already moved on or is he preparing still?”
The mercenary glares back at Thaddeus. "Whatever. I need the coin, and your cult pays well." The mercenary scratches his beard and continues to say, "Mondath is likely with that dragonborn back in the shrine you all set up in the cave to do gods-know-what." He raises an eyebrow and says, "She/they told me they would not want to be disturbed. If that's all, I need to kill at least one more deer today to replenish the food stores." The rider picks the reins back up and spurs the horse back into action.
Travis slowly turns to the others as the rider departs. "It sounds like we should get to that cave right away,"he says. "We just might be able to break up whatever infernal activities are underway."
He loosens his shield so he can readily deploy it and prepares to move toward the cave. Stealth does not appear to be his chosen approach...
Cale emerges from his hiding place, happy to have not needed to fight right now. "I guess we weren't the cultists he was looking for, eh? Agreed, let's take that cave"
Kirari gives a quick sigh, grateful that it wasn't one of official standing or lack of proper address might have given her away. "Sorry all, he approached so quickly I hadn't thought about giving a proper greeting. What say should our excuse be for returning? It seems they weren't expecting any others to come back."
Escobert also appears relieved as the rider heads south in search of more game.
As the party moves closer to the camp, the kobolds do not seem to pay too much attention, but seeing the professor, one springs up with a “Hail Tiamat!” And then spurs the others to untie the fence more quickly. The typical trash from a raiders’ camp litters the ground (bones from food, broken weapons, etc. ).
The kobolds take turns taking the fence into the large cave at the edge of the plateau. Unlike last time, there are not any guards posted at the cave entrance.
Travis glances a bit dismissively at the kobolds as the party walks by. He keeps his focus ahead on the area of the cave, looking for any signs of what might be happening there.
Inglenook moves up to Escobert, constantly tripping over the robes that are too long for him, the hem now frayed and filthy.
"Well we can tell the boss man that the cultists are not going back to Greenest. That's one job done eh?"
He frowns thoughtfully, "I don't suppose they left the prisoners and an egg behind did they? Would make the rest of this trip rather easy."

“I think you’re right Travis. We might be in luck. Maybe the egg is still there after all.”
He grins at the others, “well let’s see what we can do now that most of the camp has left.”
