(Would it have been possible to shoot the creature without hitting the dunewrecker? I probably would've shot the other one had I known that damaging the walker through another creature was something that could possibly happen.)

You shot a snake wrapped around the Dunewrecker with a giant crossbow that is off the side of the vehicle, what exactly were you expecting?

For the bolt to stick into the snake and not go through it with enough force to damage the plating below it, or that there would be a good enough angle to hit just the snake and not the vehicle
((Agar is pretty low on the initiative but I'll post this here with the understanding that the other will have gone before this happens. Twinned Spell dissonant whispers. Both of them must make a Wis save vs DC 19 or take 9 psychic damage and use their reactions to move away as far as their movement allows, provoking attacks of opportunity.))
When the other two snakes came out and attacked, Agar decided the situation was more serious than he first thought and warranted some resource expenditure. He whispered, though none of the others could make out what he said, his magic carrying the enchanted words to the two snakes and assailing their minds, driving them to flee.
Save one: 8
Save two: 19
The Serpent holding the Wrecker hisses at you, unaffected by your spell while the second slithers away, only to stop a about 50 feet away and turn back.
Any attacks of opportunity against the affected snake? If it passes by the others they should be able to use their reactions to attack it.
Heli moves up to the snake constricted around the vehicle and tries cutting the serpent away from it, aiming to slash it in three pieces, her scimitar flashing with freezing blue light on impact and leaving marks akin to frostbites on the snake.
The serpent wrapped around the Wrecker loosens it's grip, and the second one screeches, SCREECHES of malice and anguish. (It takes it's action to turn around and come back)

(I think I still had a turn in round 2 before Agar/snakes took their turn? Sorry, I was waiting for my turn in initiative)
Following Heli's lead, Carcan rushes up next to her and unleashes his attacks on the serpent as well, as his metal companion follows closely behind with a bite.
1st Attack (Green-Flame Blade): 20 to hit; 13 slashing, 5 poison, 1 fire damage; if that hits and the other one is within 5ft it also takes 9 fire damage
2nd Attack: 11 to hit; 7 slashing, 6 poison damage
BA: Command steel defender to attack the same snake: 13 to hit; 9 force damage
The dog stays up next to the snake and Heli, while Carcan pirouettes into a position behind them but still next to his mechanical friend. (Steel defender will impose disadvantage on the first attack to either Heli or Carcan)

1st Attack (Green-Flame Blade): 25 to hit; 6 slashing, 2 poison, 5 fire damage; if that hits and the other one is within 5ft it also takes 12 fire damage

(Yes, yours would, and you’re hitting a dead snake. Would you like to change your attacks to something else?)
(Ah, then ignore the stuff about Heli and I'd move up to the other snake. Carcan has 50ft speed at the moment and the dog has 40ft, so I think we could make it)

Oh, and that would've been booming blade so thunder instead of fire damage and 11 thunder damage if the snake willingly moves (dissonant whispers movement wouldn't trigger it)

Agar wasted a moment expecting the snakes to slither away, and one of them did so, somehow totally unexpectedly avoiding even drawing attacks from his teammates. As he shrugged, his owl familiar flew by it to distract it, and he cast a spell at the remaining snake and launched a bolt of flame at it.

“Yet another reason I hate the desert”Victorin grumbles and cleans his daggers before placing them back on his belt and checking out the Dunewrecker for any damages from the snakes or the ballistas. A centipede moves across the top of the vehicle and climbs up Victorin's boot, disappearing in the folds of his cloak.
Investigation: 17
“Kai, do you think this will still get us where we need to go? I don’t fancy a walk”
Kai perches on top of the main ballista, surveying the desert for further threats. Once he's satisfied, he glances down to Victorin. "Desert's preferable terrain for us. Wide field of view, consistent and flat terrain if you have the right vehicle. Speaking of, the walker should be fine. I should be able to do repairs as we keep going."
He looks over the vehicle to be sure. As he does so, he casts mending on any parts that were damaged in the fight.
Nothing seems to have sustained any practical damage, but the Dunewrecker has a nice new window and a lowered ceiling. Also a snake corpse. The snake corpse is still pinned to the side of it.
Agar poked his head out to get a closer look at the snake pinned to the vehicle. "Well... that was interesting. What snake attacks a moving car? Not to mention armored vehicle?" He shook his head. "Everyone alright? Then lets head on. Clean up after the mission."
You continue on, hoping to make it to Zarone before nightfall, and at full speed, it is an easily accomplished task.
As the sun dips below the horizon, The Dunewrecker approaches the lavish city, the streets filled with carts, performers, and a general bustle, but you know as well as any agent that not all is as it seems. If you look to the roofs you see swift-moving shapes, the shady pedestrians duck into dark alleys, and tattooed thugs wield all manner of weapons, and are very clearly not the city guard.

Kai leaps into the Ballistae, winding it up before releasing a shot that pierces through the serpent, and into the Wrecker iself.
Farewell.
"Try not to damage the gear unnecessarily, Kai. We don't want to have to pay for the damages." Quinn says with a small sigh.

Your blade, wreathed in sonic energy, strikes true, and the snake seems close to death but also incredibly determined.
