Thom's instincts kick into gear as he sees Galingal, Sarith and Lex move into action.
He needs to get out of here.
@Spider, if Thom were to dash, given the difficult terrain on the bridge, could he still make it across and into that guard outpost with Sarith and Galingal? I think he can make it to the square that is 2 spaces east of Galingal, but if I am mistaken and he can't make it across the bridge, Thom would so a similar move to Stena and he'd post up behind Lex, taking the dodge action.
((Io, if you try to cast before making it onto the bridge, the spell will fizzle anyway. Don't think you're able to get onto it without a dash, so I'll have moved you up and slot you into initiative.))
((Thom, you think it would be close, but might be a 'go for it and find out' type situation, may not be able to accurately math it out before attempting? Since that's his preference, I'll have him go for it.))
Stena moves up and crouches behind Lex, while Thom slips past her Sarith-style and hurries across the swaying bridge, just making it to the stability of the guard tower.
((Lia is up, but Galingal at least could cue up a turn. Thom is providing half cover to any ranged attacks from folks on the slave pen side of things (see OOC post about half cover).))

((I think Lia might be able to get one space in front of Lex maybe? Most importantly, she just wants to get out of any magic-dampening field around the cell, if she can, and still see the guard))
Lia sees everyone dashing forward, and takes this as her cue. She moves up with Lex and (hopefully) feels the vibrations, and harmonics, of the magical weave around her: like the comforting, background-tick of an old grandfather clock, or the quiet sounds of life you hear all around you in a forest, if you’re listening quietly enough for them.
”Huh!…”, she breathes, and revels for a second as her voice reverberates, (almost inaudibly to all but her) against the stings of weave that are back with her.
“Ha!.. Ahah ha!…”, she gets a little drunk on hearing her own voice echo back off the weave around her, “AhahahaHA!”. ((mwahaha!)).
She looks right at the lone guard from across the bridge, and speaks to them specifically in a voice that somehow seems to pitch both an octave higher and lower at the same time, “NOT HAVING SUCH A GREAT DAY NOW, ARE YOU”. It’s a statement, not a question.
And with those last words, anyone magically attuned might feel just the faintest ‘Pth-oom!…’ . The kind of deep base sound you only feel and not hear. Her words radiate out from Lia in a wave, increasing in speed as they race across the bridge, straight towards the pitiful guard that’s being beset on all sides by her cell mates…
((vicious mockery: WIS save (DC13) or take 3 (psychic damage), and suffer disadvantage on next attack)).
((With having to move through folks, and the difficult terrain of the bridge, it would take a dash to get past Lex, unfortunately. If you were to use the full dash though, you could get to the door of the guard tower and join the others. If you want her to have done so, you can still say everything in your very cool description her getting back in tune (bahdum-tiss) with the world, just wouldn't actually be a casting of vm.))
((Thanks for the ruling @spider. I wasn’t sure, but that makes complete sense…))
Lia sees everyone dashing forward, and takes this as her cue. She takes a deep breath and sets off across the bridge as far as she can go… ((movement and dash)).
As she leaves the cell, she takes a quick glance left and right.
((Any sign that the quagoths are in their den or coming out? Any sign of the retreating drow or the elite? Or of whatever is making ‘the distraction’? All at a glance and at a dash. Thanks)).
As Lia passes Lex, she feels the vibrations, and harmonics, of the magical weave around her: like the sound of the wind in your ears as you run, or the sound of your own heart beating faster in your chest.
”Huh!…”, she breathes, as she runs, and revels for a second as her voice reverberates, (almost inaudibly to all but her) against the stings of weave that are back with her.
“Ha!.. Ahah ha!…”, she gets a little drunk on hearing her own voice echo back off the weave around her, “AhahahaHA!”. ((mwahaha!)).
When she gets to the guard chamber, she pulls up short just behind Thom, and says just over his shoulder, to Galingal, “You did it! By the gods!…Stick them again!!”.
((Granting GalingalBardic Inspiration (again), with her bonus action)).
Lia hurries across the bridge an encourages Galingal again.
((There's only a narrow gap between the wall and stalactites, and it's dark, so can't make out any drow to the left. No quaggoths or guards coming from the right either.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Galingal feels a surge of power come from Lia's words and flexes his lean muscles and slashes out at the drow guard again. He then steps in quickly and stabs forward with the dagger for a second strike.
Action: Attack - Attack: 22 Damage: 7
Bonus Action: War Priest for additional attack: Attack: 20 Damage: 4
Two quick stabs of the dagger and Galingal finishes off the drow guard, the body slumping back into his chair that he'd not gotten a chance to move from.
Galingal, Thom, Lia and Lex:
<Ha! Nice work.>, Sarith sends. <Armory is up through there.>, (those in the room see that he points at a hatch in the ceiling accessible by a ladder one one wall.) <Key in his belt that unlocks the slave pens will unlock the armory.>
He lightly kicks the body.
<Lex, if you can hear me, we aren't all going to fit in here, folks need to stay out of sight while we grab what's upstairs.>
((We are no longer in initiative order for the time being.))
Galingal cleans the blade of the dagger on the drow guard's clothing and looks up at the hatch.
He quickly climbs up the ladder and pushes open the hatch.
"If there's anything worth taking, I can pass it all down to you," Galingal says to Thom and Lia. "And then the rest can come through and grab any weapons as we move out onto the next bridge."
Galingal then looks around inside the chamber the hatch leads into.
and Thom gets the key from the dead drow and gives it to Galingal to open the hatch. (sicne Thom's key opened the slave pens, wouldn't it also open the Armory?)
Thom would also look around this guard outpost real quick to see if there's anything interesting.
Then he'd wait for Galingal to hand down stuff from the Armory. <make sure you grab it all mate! and quick yeah?!>
((Galingal, give me a Perception check to see how much detail you're able to take in once you unlock the hatch and check out what's up there. There are glowing fungus lamps below that someone can have passed up so you don't need to make it at disadvantage.))
((Thom, you can give me a Perception or Investigation too. Yes, that key would have worked too.))
Thom, there's the dead drow, which at a glance you would have noted his clothes, chain shirt, shortsword, hand crossbow, a case of bolts, and a coil of spidersilk rope. The room itself has the table and chairs, and spidersilk webbing with hooks where his hand crossbow and bolts currently are hanging. There are also some playing cards, some of which are slightly scorched, and a dice cup that you've seen guards use to while away the time while on duty.
((We're not on turn order, but you won't be left unattended forever, so we'll take it minute by minute. So Galingal may want to prioritize the first ten things he'd want to pass down to Thom, Sarith and Lia during that first minute, they'd be able to claim/pass them off, etc. as needed. The NPCs in the pen are getting anxious, especially the more hot headed among them, are are going to be chomping at the bit to get out.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With the hatch open with Thom's help and with the fungal glow lamp resting inside, Galingal scrambles into the armory and quickly searches, looking for weapons and armor, but also keeping an eye out for his amulet and thieves' tools in case they're here.
Lex backs up so she's against the bars again. <Stay back for now,>she communicates telepathically to whoever is close enough to her. <There isn't enough room in there for all of us, and we need to stay stealthy, so we're moving in groups.>
Galingal easily spots a total of twelve sets of armor, six chain shirts, and six studded leather. They all match the sort worn by the various drow. Similarly, there are six drow shields, six hand crossbows, six shortswords that all match the drow aesthetic, and you've seen similar weaponry on your captors. There is also a stack of cases of bolts, maybe three to four times as many as there are hand crossbows. There are a couple handfuls of daggers, and some crates, one marked "Caltrops", another "Rope", "Hammers and Spikes", "Miscellaneous". You peek in the last box and see some assorted gear, including a set of thieves' tools.
There are also an assortment of other weaponry likely captured from occupants of the slave pen. ((Not sure what all folks had, so I'm a bit short on descriptions!))
((So going minute by minute, you'd have 10 items you can grab for yourself or pass down below, or use one of those turns to further root through the room or investigate more.))
<Ugh, enough waiting! The door is open, let's GOOOO!> Ront grumbles mentally... though he makes no effort to push past Lex.
Lia thinks to Galingal<Yes, very nice work!... Start handing things down!>. She stands ready to receive whatever he passes.
She also asks <You don’t see my lyreup there, do you? Or my flute?…>. Although, she can’t stop the thought that it’s <unlikely> or <a long shot> from leaking through too.
She readily hands items to people, as they want them, and piles any spares on the table or around the room for anyone who follows in the next batch.
<Any light armour up there?> she eventually asks for herself too.
((Ice knife? no idea what you are talking about *Profusly sweats* Ahh ray of frost yeah that hhmm hhmm c: obviusly was what i wrote c:))
Since Lex is busy Stena tells Stool,
<Wait for my signal then start moving after us as quickly as you can.>
She then moves to the spot southeast of Lex and crouches, ready for attack.
((Taking the dodge action))
