Scarab on Pride, having become much more powerful, decides the time has come to move on and try to find his homeland again. He leaves on Sandy Wind, his warhorse, with his few possessions. His eyes are bright with hope and his smile is full of joy as he leaves the town where he lived for so long.
OOC: It's so hard to pick a new character! I've narrowed it down to four classes but I just can't decide...

Sha'kar digs frantically through the rubble for a while, before his shoulders finally slump in defeat, accepting that his rapier is gone for good. He slowly stands and looks around at the destruction. After watching other townsfolk or newcomers for a while, and seeing many heading into the school, Sha'kar heads that direction himself.
OOC: Could you give us a refresher on how stealth and perception work in this campaign?

Eldin says, "Wait so it happened to you too? I feel a lot weaker. Like, I'm much worse at doing a lot of the stuff that I can normally do and there are other things that I just can't get right no matter how much I try. Also I seem to have lost a good chunk of my magic. What do you suppose caused this? Do you think it might be related to that vision of 'buttons' you told me about?"
For the Artificer, nothing on it shows to be too outrageous. Especially compared to some stuff the relatively comparable Beast Master can do. So Artificer and its 1 companion will be allowed. I'm iffy on the self-created magic items, but I'll cross that bridge when it gets here.
Perception v Stealth. Ok, since 5e wasnt built with PvP in mind this is a bit tricky. As a ruling too far in either direction either completely invalidates the stealth mechanic for Rouges or other classes who'd use it. Or makes it nigh impossible to fight someone 1v1 who is able to stay out of sight.
For this I'm thinking of allowing a special Reaction perceptuon roll to all characters against a character who utilize stealth. This way it isn't a "Free" check as hiding does consume action economy, it's only fair any contest would also require some action to do. Passive perception will still be a thing as well. This was spells, abilities, and items that allow for better hiding can still be used. While giving opponents at least a chance to find them. Albeit at the cost of Shield spells or Attacks of Oppurtunity. Also keep in mind there are requirements to actually Hide from enemies.
This is just a 1st draft idea. I am open to any and all suggestions. I want whatever will allow for the most fun for everyone here.
If you are stealthing or acting in a manner you do not wish your opponent to be aware of PM me or place your actions in a spoiler. If you act so your opponent will be aware of your action, or must save post it publicly. We'll see how this works out and tweak it as we go.
If a character is unaware of your action it will need to beat their passive. For instance Stealth will go against the opponent's passive Perception or Investigation, unless you were fighting and moved out of sight to Hide. Then it would be contested
A cloaked figure slowly walks into the glory. His face is completely hidden, but you see two mismatched eyes shining out from beneath the hood. One is green, and one is blood red. He says nothing, just sits in a corner and watches the proceedings.
(I definitely agree with all those changes. Og abused spell scrolls to hell and back (I think he ended with the ability to cast like 10 shield spells per match with only level 1 slots).)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Eldin's attention is diverted to Marvarax shouting for a medic. He says softly to Grianne, "Let's see if I can still do this." He walks over Marvarax and places his hand, now equipped with a pair of dirty gauntlets that have ogre motives on them, on the Brass Dragonborn's head. He calls out to his god, "Hades, if you can still hear me, please let me know what I can and can't do still." Eldin then casts a spell and channels the divine energy of his god to heal the dragonborn.
Correct. All standard character creation rules apply. Only changes are that you are level 3, have 1 uncommon magic item, and any set of mundane armor and weapon equipped you'd like

I assume artificer companions are banned as well?
Zacazotal: Level 3 Cleric of Kukulkan | Baryk Greycastle: Level 11 Tricky Sharpshooter (7W/5L) | Parabolus: Level 11 Warlock of the Stars (9W/2L)
DM: Tomb of Annihilation- Aftermath / Dungeon Crawl Classics- People of the Pit
Let me look at the Artificer. Mage familiars are not banned, but provide minor or situational buffs.
I'll have a final answer before tommorow on Artificer.

Grianne gives Eldin a hug and sighs relief. I am fine I think. Most of my things are broken and I seem to have been cut off from my magic.
Grianne Wildpaw: Wood Elf Druid level 12 (8W-4L)- - Coliseum of Conquest: Master of Faerie Fire. Just don't ask her to spell it.
Grianne Wildpaw: Wood Elf Druid level 6 (2W-1L)- - Coliseum Reborn : Master of a Myriad of forms.

I believe BDaddly had a system already in place for stealth. I don't remember the exact rules but it's in the campaign page.
I'll go look at that. Ty
Edit, there is a ruling in place:
House/PvP Rulings:

(Here's the last time we discussed stealth mechanics much. Whether or not you use my old rules or make new ones is up to you.)
