The Eastern tunnel turns south and narrows, going about 200 feet.
"This fifty-foot-square chamber is hewn out of rock. The floor is rough but flat, the walls show the chisel-marks of the original builders, and the ceiling is about ten feet high. Identical stone doors with iron pull-ring handles stand in the middle of the east, north, and west walls. In the center of the room stands a life-sized and lifelike statue of a dwarf warrior wearing a chain shirt, helm, and big boots. He carries a shield on his left arm and a battleaxe in his right hand. The statue has clearly been broken into, roughly, the head and upper torso, lower torso, and legs. These pieces have been reassembled and held together and upright in a stout wooden frame. A dagger along with several coins and gems lie on the floor in front of the statue, surrounded by an ring of fine gravel.
Shrek sniffs the air, clearly uncomfortable with entering the room. "Hmmmm, traps me think?" he mumbles out loud, to no one in particular. He'll slowly creep into the room, keeping an eagle eye out for traps, making a circumference march around the periphery.
Olaerys nods when Shrek makes the suggestion. "Sure smells like it. Let's not fall for that again." Olaerys walks the periphery as well and looks for any sign of a trap.

Crossing the ring of gravel, Shrek collects the offerings.
The coins amount to 440 cp, 253 sp, and 97 gp. Six small green agates (worth 5 gp each) and two polished moonstones (worth 50 gp each) are among the coins.
The dagger is decorated with star motifs and a grip of night-blue leather. Dried blood still coats the blade. The name “Reszur” is graven on the dagger’s pommel.
Olaerys goes to the east door and listens for movement.

OOC: I threw the coin/gem loot into my character sheet notes section. Melchor get's the dagger (I assume). Once we cash in all the coinage and gems, each person will get 51gp + 3sp + 4cp, per this handy tool I found online: Stephanie Ortiz | D&D 5e coin converter | (stephthedev.com).
Randall looks over the broken dwarf statue. " 'Petrified Ironstar dwarf'... so does this mean this was once a living person? Not a statue? I never knew any of this was down here." He is too lost in thought to notice what Olaerys is doing with the east door.

Olaerys raises up and says to Shrek and Randall - “Someone behind the door hears us and says to come on in.” He shrugs his shoulders. He points to opposite sides of the door and if all nod to him, he will open the door standing to the side of it to avoid any attack coming out from within.

After waiting for a few seconds for any attack to fling through the door...if nothing, Shrek will pop through the door with his halberd drawn ahead of him, ready to attack whomever is waiting inside.
Randall will amble over to the door, no attack readied, just waiting to see what happens next.

You fling open the door. A passage — ten feet wide, ten feet high, and hewn out of the rock — runs forty feet ahead. A small lantern hangs from a hook in the wall next to the door at the east end of the passage. Sitting on a wooden stool by the lantern is a balding, beardless old male human in patched and faded work trousers and a matching tunic. He is idly whittling a stick.
Seeing the fearsome looking Shrek ready to attack, he drops his tool and wood, holding his arms up.
"Please, don't hurt me. I mean you no harm. You don't understand. Please, you are provoking the wrath of the Delvers."
Looking past, he spies Randall. "Randall, is that you? Boy, what have you gotten yourself into here. Do you know what this place is? How important it is to the town? The stones tell us things. Warn us. Protect us."
Randall recognizes the man as Baragustas Harbuckler, a local carpenter.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Olaerys says "Randall, do you know who this is?" Never taking his eyes off the man, he lets his battle axe come up and rest on his right shoulder, clearly so that the man can see it. "Do you mind telling us who the Delvers are and what they are doing? What will happen if we provoke the wrath of the Delvers, in messing with whatever they are doing? What do the stones tell you? How are they protecting the town? Thus far I'm not seeing a lot of "protection", just a lot of dead bodies..."
Olaerys leans over and looks at him eye to eye with a deadly stare as he fingers his axe, making it clear, without saying, SPEAK.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Baragustas suppresses a shiver. "Dead bodies??!! What are you talking about? I know nothing of dead bodies!
Did you see the floating stone earlier? There are more, many more, in the room behind me. The Delvers move them to warn us of danger. When they move, we decide as a group what it means and how to protect the town. Mellikho, Ilmauth, many of the town elders. We are the Believers. We protect the sanctity of the Delvers' tomb, where the Stones float. The Delvers are...I don't really know. Undead? Spirits? All I know is they move the stones to warn us.
Larrakh helps us understand them. He's some kind of earth priest or so he says. He goes on and on about some kind of prophet. He and his followers scare me, but the Stones must be understood. He's in the Delvers' tomb now, analyzing the Stones. You must not disturb him, or the Delvers! You would incur their wrath, and Larrakh is powerful. "
He spots the dagger in Melchor's hands.
"You took the offerings! Blasphemy! Larrakh will be furious! He offered that dagger to the Delvers himself!'
"Baragustas?" This all has Randall's head spinning. "What in the name of the gods are you talking about? Delvers? Prophets? None of this makes any sense. It was the townsfolk who asked us to come out here. You're scaring off the quarry workers! Why would they send us out to investigate if they knew you were down here doing... just what in the hells are you doing?"
Randall is more confused than angry, but he is beginning to freak out a little bit as well.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
There don't appear to be any traps. There is a small plaque in front of the dwarf statue:
"Petrified Ironstar (?) dwarf,
found 1459 DR in Red Larch West Quarry
in broken condition."
"Cover me!" Shrek excitedly announces, as he creeps into the center of the room and collects the dagger, coins and gems.
He then turns to Olaerys and Randall. "Where to, bosses?"

There is a door leading West, and one East.
Shrek hands the beautifully decorated dagger to Melchor. "Here new friend...you find use for this!"
