Noticing Kairus is trying to communicate something but guessing the triton forgot his companions can't quite communicate as well underwater, Yulmiath and Krodhen visually ask for a moment to look at the scenery inside the wreck. They take a hint from Kairus and do so without entering the ship.
@Yulmiath: The only thing that comes to mind are tales of old sailors swearing allegiance to the strangest of deities, demons, aberrations, or celestials (depending on their inclinations) at the moment they notice their ships, and their lives, cannot be saved following some sort of catastrophe on high seas.
@Krodhen: You do not know how you remember this specific reference, but the imagery on the sarcophagus makes you think of Orcus, a Demon Prince and Lord of the Undead.
Hun thinks he gets the gist of what Kairus is trying to communicate, especially after noticing that there were no immediate hostilities and then seeing the bard summon his mage hand. Kairus takes this as the green light he was hoping for and moves the floating hand into the wreck, the first Snacker representative to do so. With a sudden shift, the undead captain rushes toward the approaching spectral hand and attacks it once then twice. She pauses for a moment before attacking twice more. She repeats it a third time. Before the hand moves too far from Kairus, the bard begins to retreat it, his experiment now completed. It would seem the captain's eternal service is bound to the Sea Mare's interior.
Hun had been ready to follow Kairus's spell with one of his own but, noticing that the undead captain did not follow the hand back to the area immediately outside the shipwreck, switches spells to get a magical reading of the area, or at least part of it. The undead captain is obviously shrouded in necromancy, and the artificer is accustomed to the many pings he gets from the Packers by now. The spell does not seem to penetrate the sarcophagus, so any magic within remains a mystery for now. However, the sarcophagus itself has been enchanted with a spell from the abjuration school of magic.
Upon making the connection, Krodhen's eye's go a little wide, and, given the undead captain isn't pursuing, he indicates to the others to surface once more and swims up, waiting for the others before conveying "I've seen somethin' like those engravings before - and it be Orcus. Seriously evil, lord of the undead and all. If the dead captain has the blessing o' that one, she might be a handful..." Turning to Hun he adds "If Yul & meself have gotta get personal with it then maybe I will take yer Breathing Bubble"

"You hear stories about that kind of thing. Only question is, are they protecting it from us, or are they trying to protect us from it?"
As he finishes talking, Yulmiath mimics a 'mind blown' gesture with his hands on either side of his head, then looks for somekind of approving gesture from Hun regarding his truly remarkable insight.
Hun appeared reluctant to follow suit, having been but moments away from going into another experiment. Yet as he started to turn back to focus again on just that, seeing Yulmiath's agreement gave him pause long enough to look back and forth between the ascending dragonborn and the undead, before then uttering a curse in [deep speech] and ascend after the others.
"Orcus? Hmm... That would explain some things. And likely anything inside then is cursed or worse."He said frankly, before then looking thoughtful for a few moments. "... Led by Krodhen, the group ascends and emerges from the water, despite some reluctance from Hun. They use the opportunity to clearly share all the information they have been able to deduce so far. Some (Yul) are prouder than others of the bits they contributed to the discussion.
After some conversation regarding the merits of disturbing the protective undead, the potential cursed nature of any rewards, and their association with a frighteningly powerful Demon Prince, The Snack Pack falls on different sides of the fence. Hun is the first to suggest they simply leave the matter be, adding that the tortles would sure be happy to hear that at least the double-headed threat in these waters was dealt with. Yulmiath agrees, pointing particularly to the idea of letting the undead captain protect the potential evil within the sarcophagus until the party can tip a sect of clerics or a hoard of paladins toward the island. Kairus disagrees, highlighting that voluntary undeath by itself is worth eliminating, letting slip some guilt about killing the dinosaur that kept others away from these waters and, coincidentally, away from the evil sarcophagus.
Although showing reluctance once again, Hun expresses his willingness to enter another fight should his view on the matter be outvoted. The artificer has one condition, though; he wants to try to read the undead captain's mind before a single blade is unsheathed. Before departing to do so, Hun looks about to see where Krodhen and Rhogal fall on the discussion. Hun is adamant that the Snackers must have a clear preference here. "Consensus and preparedness" were the kobold's words.
"We can off the undead Captain in the same way we targetted the plesiosaur, if, Hun comes back and says they're up to no good. If they're standing watch over it, I still say we let them; rather them than us. If we'd have remembered that the sarcophagus was the resting place for some demon or their trinkets, we'd likely have never disturbed any of this in the first place."
Yulmaith sighs before continuing, "But if you're itching for a fight Kairus, I'll stand with you. But I'll complain about it the whole time."
He pauses for a moment, and finishes up with,"And we need a plan to sort out whatever is in that sarcophagus once we've dealt with the guard dog. I reckon we at least need a plan to haul that thing onto land, it looks heavy and I'm not sure we want to open it underwater or just swim away leaving it for anyone to find."

Even after Krodhen and Rhogal add to the discussion, the group remains divided. Nonetheless, Yulmiath and those who are against disturbing the undead and sarcophagus seem willing to compromise should the right precautions be made. On that front, Hun dives back toward the Sea Mare and finds a spot from where to probe the undead's mind.
The first thing the artificer notices is that there are no surface thoughts, which is disappointing but not unexpected. Hun concentrates and pushes further, in search of some bead of thought deeper in the reaches of whatever vestige of consciousness the captain may still have. Just as the kobold thinks he found something, his own mind is suddenly expelled from within the undead's. Just like that, the spell is abruptly broken.
The undead captain shows no sign of dispensing retaliation.
While waiting on Hun to do his further investigation, Yulmiath lies on his back and spreads his arms and legs wide. Floating on top of the water, he looks up to the sky and tries to do a bit of thinking on how to get the sarcophagus out of the water. If the Snack Pack even get that far.
"We've plenty of rope, so could try to pull it out onto the beach? All of us together, using our muscles. It's a bit of a route one approach, but it might work. There's plenty of wrecked ships about too, so might be that we could scavenge some pulleys, make it a little easier? Anyone else, no bad ideas at this point."
Yulmaith turns his head very slowly to take in the various wrecks in the area and lets his expericened eye give them a once over.
Kairus gladly joined the discussion. "Depends how much it weighs, really. I might make this sarcophagus fly, or, better say, levitate. Underwater, might really help to lift the thing. Or,"he raised the thinger underlining another thought, "we can simply open it right there and deal with whatever is inside. Do not know much about demons, but who said it is even a demon? Maybe it is the opposite? Someone good hold there by the power of the demon?"
Kairus did not need to get out of the water but gave Hun space to work, watching him (and the undead) from above while keeping a quiet conversation with others. He would dive at the moment something goes wrong.
Hun squints at the creature and then to his necklace. Knowing however that time was of the essence, he turned expecting to see at least some others on the ready, but as it dons on him that Yulmiath and Kairus at the very least stayed at the surface, the kobold eyes go from wide in surprise for a moment to twitchy as his whole body began to shake in presumed fury or annoyance. Such was his frustration that, he turned again back to the undead, and with more determination burnt through the last two charges in hopes of pushing past her defenses.
Something was there! He felt close -- too close to uncovering it the first time to stop now. And if things went south once the egg was crack, and he'd have to face the bloody creature alone then so be it!
(OOC: I would say its safe to presume he passed along the helmet, but with the group still being considered divided, it has not happened yet. In the meantime, two more wisdom saves(DC 13) for the undead potentially before he's out of charges.)
(@Ori: Sorry, I am not sure I understood that last bit. Is Hun wearing the breathing bubble or was it given to Krodhen?)
At the water surface, Yulmiath and Kairus begin to plan on what to do with the sarcophagus if they were to indeed claim it and open it. The dragonborn wants to use some of that "thinking on his feet" that he learned while sailing the seas but, looking around for ship parts that might come in handy, the barbarian can only come up with using loose planks for leverage. The triton suggests a more magical solution to their engineering problem, but acknowledges that the prize is not theirs just yet. The bard keeps an eye on Hun from above.
Kairus watches as Hun's frustration and disappointment turn into anger. Perhaps he is angry at his companions for not following and protecting him, or perhaps he is angry at his necklace. The magical trinket does not seem to be doing its job, even after three independent tries. The undead captain has somehow succeeded in shielding her mind. There is a chance there is nothing to be probed to begin with, but Hun suspects the captain might simply be unusually strong of mind for an undead creature. That connection to Orcus is perhaps already proving to be a tough one to crack.
Noticing Kairus is trying to communicate something but guessing the triton forgot his companions can't quite communicate as well underwater, Yulmiath and Krodhen visually ask for a moment to look at the scenery inside the wreck. They take a hint from Kairus and do so without entering the ship.
