Kairus stopped hissing at the now-dead blob and came closer to examine it. "It was prettier as a vase," he pursed his lips in disapproval of the shape-changing but then shrugged and turned away losing interest in the monster. "Do you think we are done with surprises for now? If so, I suggest we rest a bit. Somehow feel weak after that battle with shadows." Kairus shuddered remembering the feeling when the black tentacle touched him. "And if my eyes do not deceive me, so is Rhogal."
Just in case the surprises were not over, he chose a place to rest by the window. He sat under it, leaning on the wall, and even placed the still-burning torch between himself and the throne. The chair was still intriguing but after the fight with the vase, he would rather recover full strength before familiarising himself with another potentially dangerous piece of furniture.
Kairus would not stop others from investigating other corners of the room, though, accompanying their search with the soft music of rest.

Yulmiath stows his second favourite axe and stoops to pick up his biggest and bestest boy. Wiping a bit of gummy residue off the axe head, he pops a squat by the body and broken pottery and takes a look-see to find out if the creature had managed to steal any other unlucky adventurer's gear.
His bear for wearing off, Rhogal can no longer hide his fatigue. His knees give out from under him and he lands on his duff, "I'm lucky just be have the vig'r ta breathe, now. Just glad them things are gone. How's about we take more'n a few?"
He drags himself over to the nearest pillar and props himself up against it.
"Yea..."Hun said, then sighs in defeat; his tears thoroughly spent over the course of a minute. "... a breather is fine. Just noone sit in the chair, 'cause it has transmutation magic all over it."Hun explained while motioning for Mr. Thicc to help scoop up the goo. "If I had to guess, it'a prolly turn you into those shadow creatures or a fish. I'll look it over more closely while you lot lick your wounds."He further adds as he alongside the construct began filling up a couple spare vials.
"There. It's no adhesive, but maybe I can figure out a way to stimulate whatever transformative properties later."Hun mused while studying one vial, before then ultimately putting it away. After that, he'd only really give the others a cursory once over out of at least some concern of their health(krodhen included!), before ultimately staying true to his word in spending the next hour studying the chair, searching for any clues, impressions, drawings, and so forth both on it and in the room to try and discern its properties. Towards the very end of the hour, he'd even move on to testing its latent powers by having Mr. Thicc first set one of the scorpions onto it. If nothing else, he'd have mr. Thicc sit on the chair itself before temporarily suspending tests if nothing came of either experiments.
(OOC: Not sure if a check would be needed/even possible for studying the chair over the hour, but if so, here's an arcana one from Hun.)
Yul wanted to look down the dark hallway to the south (link).
I know Kairus has already decided to postpone his investigation but if anyone wants to resume those actions, perhaps even during the short rest, just let me know. I am willing to use the rolls from back them if you rolled one, since those were never resolved.
Following some genuine tears, lamentations, and sighs of exhaustion, the Packers settle down for a bit of a rest after Kairus suggests it would do the group well to catch their breath. Not needing anyone's permission, the triton finds a place to sit with a nearby lit torch and begins tickling his cittern. The instrument emits a soothing sound for all within the chamber to hear. Kairus even incorporates the sounds of the crashing waves outside into his melody. (Kairus recovers 13 HP.)
Rhogal welcomes the suggestion and plops to the ground after dropping his bear form. The dwarf has almost no strength left and focuses on nothing else but on letting his muscles relax for at least one hour. This simple act does wonders to sooth his magical affliction. (Rhogal recovers 25 HP.)
Lacking a need to recover their own strength, Yulmiath and Hun go about studying the room again. The dragonborn takes his time in examining the urn's remains. He finds evidence of previously consumed items but nothing that would be immediately useful: small chunks of unconsumed metal, stone, or other inorganic materials. The slab of meat Hun had given to the monstrosity is still there, albeit lacerated in multiple spots. At a minimum, Yulmiath finds out that this mimic hadn't had a meal in a long time, so no recent visitors to the temple, if any, must have stumbled upon the urn.
Hun takes the hour he has been gifted and fulfills his promise to analyze the magic-covered throne in the room. He confirms its material, granite, and calculates its weight, 3,000 pounds. As for its magical transmutation properties, the artificer spends a lot of time theorizing on what they could be and gathering additional measurements. In the end, frustrated, the kobold picks an unlucky scorpion from the bag he had purchased back in Ahoyhoy and sets it on the throne. Nothing happens, at least not at first, until... Hun notices after a few minutes of observation that whenever the scorpion skitters to the right side of the throne, the waves outside become rougher on that end of the part of the ocean that is visible from the window facing it. Whenever the scorpion skitters to the left, the waves change direction and crash that-a-way.
-> All STR penalties are done away with. Your STR scores are back to normal after the completion of the short rest.
"Huh... a throne by which they might control the waves and ward off unwanted visitors... or sink potential pray." Hun comments upon finishing his observation. A curt signal is given to Mr. Thicc to collect the scorpion and return it to its basket while the kobold continued to stare out the window for a couple more minutes. "Very interesting and potentially useful... but far, far too heavy to relocate even if its magical properties could somehow be relocated." He'd continue to ramble on aloud.
If ever asked about his conclusion, he'd be sure to pass it along after this point, but still warn folk away from 'trying out' the chair. "Let's save such shenanigans for after we've explored this place. For now, and if you lot are ready, let's continue our survey of the place!"On that note, Hun and Mr. Thicc scampered their way back to the door the Kobold had been previously inspecting prior to festivities. And if it wasn't trapped or locked, he'd have Mr. Thicc open them so the two could have a look beyond it. If locked however, Hun certainly had the tools to fix that after a bit of light massaging from the mystery hand that often extended out from the satchel.
"Control the waves?!" Kairus was watching Hun's manipulations with a moderate interest up until this moment, but now he was all eyes and ears. His strength returned and nothing could stop his curiosity. Practically in one move he covered the distance between the window and the throne and happily sat on it finally able to comment on the grandiose chair's lack of comfort. "Um... How exactly do you do it?"The triton listen to his feeling and tried to change the rhythm of the waves outside by wishing it to become faster first and then slow down.
Rhogal is somewhat sore from the magical abuse his muscles experienced Nevertheless, he resumes the search of the room that was so rudely interrupted by the monsters that had, until recently resided in the room. Then again, he silently admits the Snackers were technically the rude ones, barging into an inhabited room. But, back to the original point, the monsters weren't exactly making themselves known. So he doesn't feel too badly about it.

While Yulmiath finishes digging through the remains of the not-Urn, Krodhen finishes bandaging his wounds. The half-orc also feels his strength return. (Krodhen recovers 11 HP.)
By then, Hun has come to a conclusion regarding the window-facing throne. Sharing his initial findings, the kobold insists that no one should take the risk of sitting on the throne, at least not until they are sure the temple is secure. Mr. Thicc reaches for the scorpion as to return it to its bag/cage, but Hun finds that his construct is suddenly holding a small, slimy octopus instead. Not sure what to do with the critter's new form, the construct holds it and extends his hand toward Hun, as if asking for the next protocol to follow.
Kairus is not deterred by the sudden transformation or by the kobold's warning. The triton sits on the oversized chair and feels its magic quickly soar through his body. He feels the weather conditions outside the window are his to command, as well as an urge to let his body grow a few tentacles, much like the octopus carved on the throne.
@Blue/@Kairus:
While sitting on the throne, you can use it to cast the control weather spell without needing components. As long as you remain seated in the throne, you don’t need to concentrate to maintain the spell. Leaving the throne ends the effect, whereupon the weather gradually returns to normal.
While sitting on the throne you can transform yourself into a sea gull (without the Mimicry trait) or an octopus. The effect is identical to that of a polymorph spell, except the duration is 8 hours and you can end the effect on yourself at any time (no action required).
Shaking his head, Hun moves to inspect the door leading east while Kairus plays at the throne. After a thorough examination, the artificer finds no signs of foul play on the doors and simply pushes them open. Clinging to the wall beyond the door is a semicircular stone balcony which overlooks a natural cave. Sea water rushes in and out of this damp cave, crashing against the walls and filling the cave with a cold spray. Near the back of the cave hangs a sagging bridge made of frayed ropes and wooden planks. Between them, carved into the north wall midway between the balcony and the bridge, is a narrow open window.
While this is all happening, Rhogal has continued to pace around the room to take it all in. He admires the many peeling murals on the walls and wonders what they looked like in their prime. The theme of tentacled sea monsters dragging storm-tossed ships to their doom seems quite relevant now. The dwarf also takes note of the white coral branches decoratively set into the plaster, as well as the mosaics in the form of sharks made of stones and shells. The four pillars in the room were carved to look like thick strands of kelp, and are quite a work of art themselves. The now shadow-less wooden tortle statues look more peaceful. Rhogal estimates that they stand 6 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds each. During his look around the throne room, Rhogal passes by the southern wall and takes a peek down the dark hallway Yulmiath was once interested in. It must be some 100ft long. It has two sets of doors leading west and one at the very end leading further south. A fourth way out of the corridor can be found in the form of an open passage to the east, where some light seems to be coming from.

"Oh, this is great!"Kairus decided he fully grasped the throne handling and now had the time of his life playing with the magical device. "Check this out!"The waves slowed down their endless beating against the rock, the light dimmed a bit and the tropical hit suddenly became less insufferable. "What do you say to a good refreshing rain?" Kairus closed his eyes imagining refreshing water rushing towards the overheated beach. In the middle of the manipulations, he remembered about the group's guide but... surely the turtle (not to mention the dinosaur) was used to some "bad" weather?
Satisfied with chilling the place out (nothing extreme, but really, these jungles could use some cooling) Kairus suddenly realized other abilities of the chair. The triton laughed, then bent over to look at Hun handling the lock and with overdramatic moaning called the kobold out. "Oh, Grandpa! You were so right, I had to listen to you! But now it is too late!"He added a few tragical gulping sounds - and slowly "dissolved" on the chair transforming into an octopus. The creature seemingly helplessly raised and dropped a few tentacles, imitating theatrical suffering, only to transform back into the laughing triton again. "I'm fine, I'm fine, just messing with you!"
"This is soooo cool! You all have to check it out! Look what else it can do!"Now there was a big seagull perching on the back of the throne. The bird jumped into the air, glided into the open doors and made a circle above the waves of this coolest-of-the-cool house sea (not forgetting to check the room out - Perception 25).
The seagull returned and after another transformation Kairus firmly stated: "We all have to do it! Like, imagine our flock flying around! We can figure out that place and the whole island in no time!"
Looking over as Kairus shifts and changes shape, shaking his head in disbelief, Yulmiath repeats his earlier warning.
"Do not. Under any circumstances. Trust the furniture here. I'll also pass on sitting on that chair, until we're out of here, I'll sit on the floor, thank you very much!"
He couldn't blame the triton for continuing to trifle with Umberlee, it was fast dawning on Yulmiath that that was just Kairus' way.
"E'yup." Was Hun's deadpanned reply about their path while trying his best not to look back at Kairus. Not even the 'jest' to raise his concern had warranted so much as a glance back from the Kobold, who seemed thoroughly determined to continue look out into the expanse even if it meant being rained on at some length.
But eventually, namely after Yulmiath's second bit of commentary, Hun let out a long, exasparated sigh before side-eyeing the octopus still in Mr. Thicc's hand... and sighed again. "Keep a hold of that for now, Mr. Thicc. Least till we find a bucket or somethin'" He requests of the construct, prior to then finally reentering the room.
At that point he stares at Kairus flatly for a long moment. But then with a sigh and no word except save to bid the construct to follow, Hun carried on down to the southern hall intending to have the construct crack open some doors for a peek inside, stating with the first one they come across on the right(map top left in hall).

"Have you been on this island?!" Rhogal asks incredulously. "There's nary a safe place on this rock and you're thinkin' of bein' however high in the sky when we're set upon?"
"I think when I fall, it will be 4' 3" offa the ground rather than 1004' 3". "
The complete and utter lack of enthusiasm among the group neither discouraged Kairus, nor kill his good mood. "Suit yourself. The experience is like nothing you ever had before!" To be completely fair, he, personally, knew full well what flying is (it's like swimming in the air, ask any fish) and could understand the indifference but weather control? Seriously, how can anyone say "no" to such fun power? Must be the religious thing. Now, that Kairus never understood and did not even try to. Sailors loved to curse Umberlee (usually on shore, a rare fool would do such a thing in the middle of the sea) but to the triton, it always sounded like a part of the marine tradition and side glances from Yulmiath simply flew over his head unnoticed.
"Not to mention, we can easily reach that bridge over there!" After presenting his last - unbeatable! - argument Kairus looked at every groupmate again but then waved his hand. "But suit yourself."If it was doors in the corridor everyone wanted to check, so be it.
Kairus has more than just a moment of fun when he decides to play with the weather outside. He can imagine Kwilgok cursing the skies and trying to re-light his campfire. The fun continues as the triton engages in some over-exaggerated acting, intent on pulling Hun's leg. Sadly, the performer is ignored by the grumpy kobold.
Kairus's invitation regarding trying out the throne powers is summarily dismissed by Yulmiath and others. Undeterred, the bard tries to empower his arguments by transforming himself into the island's most fierce type of enemy: a bird! He goes for a fly-about in the cave as the others discuss their path forward.
In the cave, Kairus the Gull has a chance to briefly look into its potential exits. Looking into the window on the north wall (before reaching the bridge) Kairus sees what is on the other side of that pile of rubble blocking an earlier entryway: a stone sculpture of a giant crab holding a water basin. As intriguing as it may be, the gull needs to keep flying. The two paths at both ends of the bridge are harder to peek into due to the lack of natural light. To the south of the bridge Kairus sees a cave with a pool of water and other connecting tunnels. To the north of the bridge, he sees another cave housing a large but obscured statue and a crashed wooden crate. Any more details on these three potential paths would require closer examinations.
Upon returning to the throne room and finding Rhogal and the others unconvinced, Kairus resumes his triton form (regardless of whether the others know what a triton is) and relents. The group shall walk on solid ground through the corridor to the south. Hun leads the way and Mr. Thicc follows closely while gingerly holding a tiny octopus. Upon passing the first door down the hallway, a stone double door to be precise, the construct pushes it open. Beyond it, the Snackers find another room reclaimed by nature. The outside door of this room, on the west wall, has fallen in, and vegetation has crept inside. Vines and plants grow amid wrecked furniture, and tropical birds nest on shelves and in niches. Beyond the broken door to the west, stairs curl down to a terrace. From their current position at the eastern entrance to this room, the group can see only the edges of what they deduce to be a vast, multilevel garden terrace, which includes at least one other statue.
"This would have been a better spot for a rest..."
Yulmiath looks around the rest of the pack nervously before adding "...unless the statue comes alive to try and kill us or something. Remember, no one is to trust any furniture in here. I think we should extend that warning to all furnishings as well."
Stepping onto the terrace, Yulmaith peers over the edge down into the garden below. If any of the other Packers head down the stairs, he's going to follow. No one goes near any furniture here by themselves.

"But suit yourself." If it was doors in the corridor everyone wanted to check, so be it.
