Where is the whole party going? Please see the map and let me know--three possible paths for you all to take: right, into the wolf cave, left, up the rubble-covered escarpment, or forward, along the creekside path and deeper into the cave.
Ammus follows behind Daveth, then sees the wolves. "Hold back! Daveth, some light?" He crouches, slowly getting closer to the pack. "Easy now. Eschoup. We're not going to hurt you."

Ammus, Daveth's shield illuminates the room and the four hungry-looking slavering beasts. As you kneel down and speak gently, the wolf closest to you snuffles, then calms and asks for ear scritches. All four of the wolves are skin and bones and look like they're half-starved, but your knowledge of and connection to the natural world has helped to calm the wolves. The marks on their necks show that they have probably been chained here for quite a while. The largest wolf, the one furthest back, snuffles in your direction and tugs on its chain trying to get to you but you can't reach--the chains are pretty short. The rest of you can probably get to the hole at the back of the cave if you want to given Ammus' distraction; Ammus, the wolves don't seem inclined to let you stop scratching their ears anytime soon.
Ammus, what would you like to do with the wolves? The rest of you, what would you like to do?
Daveth will say, "These animals should be freed from their bondage. If not now, then once we find or learn the fate of Gundren and Sildar. I see no evidence of either of them in this room however, should we press onward?"
“There are a lot of scraps down here. I think one of the big boss guys is likely at the top of this shaft. That or a group of goblins. We could maybe get them by surprise if we come up this way through this escarpment?”
“I can try sneaking up there? If there is something up there I can drop a small something down to let everyone know to follow?” A twinge of fear clouds my brain for a moment, but this is my chance to prove I’m more than just a brain.
The wolf nuzzles under Ammus' hand, and he gently scratches the wolf's ear. "Hail, little one. I'll get you out of here, I promise." He looks over to Daveth. "I'm letting them out. Move on, I'll meet you in the next area." Ammus goes to the chains, and will attempt to release them.
Ammus, the wolves are easy to free. Their chains are wrapped around stakes stuck in the ground and you can pull them out easily. The wolves are unchained. Three immediately take off out of the cave, but the largest, which seemed to like you, does not immediately flee.
Belwar shimmies up the dirty hole (this has been used as a makeshift dump for waste of all kinds) and pulls himself up into a large cave room, behind a stalagmite sticking up from the floor of the cave. He seems to be out of the view of the five goblins standing around the inside of the cave, four by the fire and one further back in the corner picking its teeth with a dagger. The goblin in the corner is slightly better dressed than the rest. Belwar, you also see what appears from the light of the roaring campfire to be an injured Sildar Hallwinter propped against the wall. As far as you know, the goblins (who are laughing and joking in their language--do you speak Goblin?) have not seen you yet. Belwar, you're behind the stalagmite on the left side.
Daveth decides to follow, but his armor scrapes against the side of the narrow chute and he tumbles, sliding back to the ground next to the wolves in a crashing heap. The goblins by the fire immediately freeze and one begins to head towards Belwar's hiding place. Belwar, Daveth, the rest of you--what would you like to do?
"I won't be able to get up there, carrying these two" - Telurion comments about the goblins, to Ammus and Daveth as he comes crashing back down - "If we are giving up surprise, it will not matter anyway - up?"
Daveth, you successfully, albeit somewhat noisily, climb the dirty shaft. It takes a little while and you’re afraid once or twice that you might get stuck. Your head pops out from the shaft, and you make eye contact with the goblin approaching the hidden Belwar!
Daveth will frown at the goblin and continue climbing out of the chute as he calls out to those below, "We've got company up here!" He hopes to draw the goblin away from Belwar's hiding spot.

Daveth is providing light for Ammus with his shield for the moment at the mouth of the wolf cave.

Telurion keeps the goblins secured, and waits for Ammus - "They look hungry for sure" - he commented about the wolves.

"I guess that means yes"- Telurion shrugged as Daveth ignored him, then went after him.
Athletics: 21
[ooc]Question: why are we using Acrobatics to climb instead of Athletics?[/ooc]
How close together are the goblins? How many could I get in a 15 foot cone (assuming I move to get as many as possible)?
Telurion - In post 168 the DM gave us the option to use either Acrobatics or Athletics.
