"I'm not entirely certain, but I believe at least one of the three speaks Elvish. Certainly worth a shot. In any case, a good opportunity to brush up on my knowledge of fey creatures!"
Parsnip, what are they saying? It's quite rude to keep us in the dark!
As she flits about, you notice that her gossamer aquamarine gown, which has some rather intricate designs of flowers and leaves embroidered thereon, glitterswhen she is struck by a sunbeam filtering through the leaves. It is quite lovely. And as she flies, she leaves a trail of sparklesin the air behind her, which gradually fade.
Parsnip responds in Sylvan,
I have no idea what they are saying now. But if they truly are Eladrin, I can understand that tongue, as well as the common one, and I will translate for you.
Then, in Common, "Malichi! Zensiro! Other nameless persons! Milady Snapdragon wishes to converse with you, but she only understands the Truespeech of the Feywild. I can serve as an interpreter for any that are ignorant of this tongue."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zensiro leans over to Amelia and says in Primordial, "Parsnip, the sprite, apparently speaks both Elvish and Common, in addition to Sylvan. It seems that Snapdragon, the pixie, only speaks Sylvan."
Then in Sylvan, to Parsnip, "Many pardons, of the three of us, I am the only one who can converse in the Truespeech. My friend Amelia and I can speak Elvish, but that would leave out poor Malichi, so perhaps Common would be best? Or I can translate Sylvan to my friends, if the good lady would prefer that."
As you observe the two fey beings, it is obvious there is a complicated relationship going on here. Parsnip is irritated by Snapdragon and secretly longing for her at the same time. She appears oblivious to both.
Where do such small creatures come from? What do they want? What is that big metal box clinging to the tree trunk that they crawled out of? Is that where they live? Is it a hive? But it wasn't there before, was it? Oh, I have so many questions... it is so exciting to meet new people!
asks Snapdragon.
Parsnip says in Common, "Milady has... many questions for you. She would like to know your origin and your purpose here. Are you going to try to steal the chrysalis? It belongs to us!... Well, sort-of. But we need it to get back! The Queen will never take us back without it! Not that she cares," he finishes, side-glancing at Snapdragon.
Speaking in Common, Zensiro explains, "Our origins are varied, although I think what we have in common is that we used to be full-sized representatives of our races until we were shrunk by a gnomish inventor's malfunctioning magical device. We're hoping to eventually return to our normal size, but have taken the opportunity to pursue some small tasks in the garden here while conveniently diminutive. I believe Amelia and Malichi here have completed their quests, but I was called upon to help the chrysalis make its way back to the Feywild. I wasn't aware that it belonged to you and I certainly have no interest in stealing it. If you plan on returning to the Feywild with it, then our goals seem to be aligned."
Snapdragon gives Parsnip a quizzical look, and he sighs and translates what you have said fairly accurately into Sylvan. Her eyes grow large and round, and then in a somewhat scolding voice she says:
You told them the chrysalis was ours?! Parsnip, you can't just go around lying to people, even if they look weird. You tell them the truth this instant! I insist!
She then flits about in an agitated state.
Parsnip gives an even bigger sigh, and says in Common, "What I meant was, it is in our custody. Temporarily. That is to say, we stole it from the queen, well mostly Dmitri did, and we played along on a lark, because the princess here wanted to do something 'dangerous and exciting' and I guess Dmitri is just the 'bad boy' she has been looking for. At any rate, we three fled the Feywild and came here, and we are holding it for ransom. But if we lose it, the Queen will never let us come back!"
Malichi raises his hand "The conversation is a little hard to follow with all the translating going on, but quick question, is the ransom you're hoping for being allowed to return to the Feywild? Cause I think my friend here might be able to help with that. And if it's more than that, maybe we can help with that too"
In a blur of motion, Dmitiri arrives at this moment.
"For me," he says in Common, taking great care to speak slowly enough that you may understand. "The ransom is to punish the queen, no, to humiliate her for her treatment of me and my people, and to show that I am the most valiant quickling to have ever lived! And you will not be permitted to take that away from me!"
Turning to Parsnip, he says, "What have you been doing? It's been ages since I told you to get rid of them! Do I have to do everything myself?!"
"Yeah, it might be difficult to both humiliate her AND get her to take you back" Malichi conjectures "Well, you are certainty the most valient Quickling I've ever met but what happens if you have pick one goal or the other?"
"Take me back?" scoffs the quickling, "She never had me in the first place. These two simpletons gave me access to the chrysalis, and I stole it from under her nose!"
Parsnip seems a bit shocked, and hurriedly whispers to Snapdragon, whose mouth hangs agape as she receives his message.
"Oh dear, so you've stolen this chrysalis from the Queen, as in Queen Titania, ruler of the Seelie Court? And you, Snapdragon, are a princess? Dmitri, I don't know how Titania may have wronged you or your people, for we were taught that the Faerie Queen loves all fey beings. She is merciful, I'm sure if you return the chrysalis safely and cease these dangerous demands, she will take you back. Dmitri, I believe that you are valiant, but you must know that she is a being infinitely more powerful than you, or all of us combined! You cannot get what you want by threatening her. Turn away from this folly!"
Amelia’s brow is furrowed, and her ears downturned. “What’s a quickling, exactly? I mean, you, obviously, but can you tell me a little about your people? How has the Queen mistreated you?”
"I've always found there are a lot of ways to solve any problem. This one doesn't seem to have much chance of success. A different approach may get you what you want" Malichi suggests
Dmitri's resolve seems to falter a bit. "Well, no, not Titania exactly. It was her Sister! The Queen of Air and Darkness, ruler of the Unseelie court. She cursed my people! She claimed we were late in answering her summons one time too many. To 'hasten our pace' and 'teach us to mind her will', the queen shrank our stature and sped up our internal clocks. The queen’s curse gave quicklings our amazing speed but also accelerated our passage through life-no quickling lives longer than fifteen years.
"But if a quickling, a supposed servant of the Gloaming Court, steals one of Titania's treasures, it will force war between the two sisters. And that is where we will have our revenge! We alone are too weak to harm the dread queen, but Titania will exact our revenge for us! All because of my clever plan!"
"I'm not entirely certain, but I believe at least one of the three speaks Elvish. Certainly worth a shot. In any case, a good opportunity to brush up on my knowledge of fey creatures!"

Amelia nods. "I don't speak Sylvan, sorry to say. My name is Amelia. I do speak Elvish, though, if that would be better than Common."
