Randy looks around warily. "Don't know if it has anything to do with our noise makers, but there are both elemental beings as well as fey close by..."
He flips his hood up, loosens his sword in its' sheath, and then gets his bow ready. "Not all elementals or fey are friendly. I can't tell what type they are, just that they're there."
((Zokk can also pass without trace to add 10 to stealth checks. Let's have a couple perception checks as you approach stealthily, along with remaining stealths.))

((Doh. 🙄 I missed that Randy was casting it, only saw the advantage part and was on phone so couldn't see his roll. So ONLY a 32 for Randy, he remains on this plane. It's showing now.))
Dornikal moves up alongside what he took for Zokk, only up realize it was just a tree. The shadows have him a bit discombobulated, and he's not able to notice anything new about his surroundings.

You move quietly in the direction of the sounds, finding a game trail that leads meanderingly upslope to a wooded ridge that opens into a shallow bowl. The alpine meadow nestled in the bowl covers about half of the area of the maybe thousand foot diameter of the bowl, the lower half being taken up by a mossy bog. The far ridge rises and is bracketed by the taller, snowier mountains behind. The otherwise tranquil vista is interrupted by a furious battle raging, the meadow and being torn up by what at first looks like a tangle of serpentine creatures, but in a moment resolves itself to be multiple heads on long necks, all sprouting from a central reptilian body.
It is a bit hard to judge scale at this distance, but the creature looks very large, but is being plagued by at least two much smaller creatures that seem to be powerful burrowers, erupting from below the ground to leap and snap at the underside of the many headed beast, eliciting roars and hisses from the snapping jaws that seek to rend their tormentors.
Randy and Coljin:
In addition to the monstrous combatants, you spot some camouflaged figures nestled in a few of the trees along the ridgeline here, they are garbed in what look to be bits of hemp cord frayed and died to breakup their silhouette. In truth it is other parts of their garb that give them away, a boot here, the limb of a crossbow there, and once oriented, you're able to fill in the rest and spot the humanoid lying in wait. Randy is able to make out four, and Coljin spots two in addition to them. All of them seem fixated on the combat happening in the bowl, and none seem to have noticed the party.
((Any of you can make a Knowledge check to see what you might be able to tell about these creatures, just let me know what sort of check it is, as it will affect the flavor of what you might recall.))

Dornikal believes the one with lots of heads is a hydra, but he's much more familiar with stories of the smaller creature, called a bulette by many, though the dwarven clans have more colorful names for them. Vicious predators and powerful burrowers, they can upset diggings and leave sinkholes in their wake. They don't seem to like the taste of dwarf though, but in the case of at least one outpost you can recall hearing of, that didn't stop them from 'tasting' a dozen dwarves before they could rally and put the beast down. While your kin prefer to work in metal, the tough plating of a bulette is efficient armor, and can be crafted into shields or plate.

Randy picks up some awareness of elementals and fey, though he cannot be sure if they are the source of the sounds.

"Or ice. Or wind. Depends how high they are..."
Randy pauses a second, gives a sharp nod, then casts pass without trace on the party and then stealths up.

(I'm not sure what Randy meant to roll, but I don't think it's what he ended up with. 6d6 would get you pretty high average results, after all :U )
Ulmwin is likely the epitome of stealth.

Has Dornikal seen/heard about anything like these critters?

He does wonder why the bulettes would be messing with a hydra.
Maybe hydras are tastier?
(If arcana would count, this would be +7 instead of +2.)
