Vethna takes whatever watch doesn't have 2 people on it already, being the second person.
((OOC: Here's my evidence that you can cast spells during a long rest without negating the long rest. If you can't, Tanis would cast it just before the long rest and the Goodberries still last 24 hours, so 16 more hours after the long rest ends.
Relevant text: "If the rest is interrupted by a period of strenuous activity - at least 1 hour of walking, fighting, casting spells, or similar adventuring activity - the characters must begin the rest again to gain any benefit from it."
Goodberry takes 1 action to cast, so casting it twice takes 12 seconds after he finishes his 6 hours of sleep, far less than the aforementioned 1 hour, and I did not think of it as "strenuous activity" in any case.
However, as I said, if Tanis can't do that without negating the long rest, he'll just cast it with unused spell slots before starting the long rest and the Goodberries should stlll last for 16 hours after the long rest is over.))
Petmailer sits next to Tanis and asks “Have you seen any sign of activity behind us? It seems like we were able to get away, but I would like a couple more days of gaining ground to be sure.” He starts to open up a little about his past, the further they are away from the Drow jail party. “You know, not all of us are like her, or the tales that you have heard. I was a member of a group called the Shadow Sentinels that guarded our borders, mainly from fearsome creatures and intruders that meant us harm. Something is not right in our society, there have been many changes of late, deals with the Zhentarim, there are those in our politics who seem bent on our destruction and who hasten war. I decided to act against those forces and I was caught and punished. About to lose my head for it. I am so glad to be out of there…”. He offers water to anyone else who would like to have some from the water skins he has. He eats some of the leftover Drow jerky.
Also he will discuss with Vethna, “Are you still able to pick us out a path? Do you think we are on course? Thank you for finding us this spot to camp. I will keep an eye out tonight for any danger.”

(OOC: wow, one item I had never dug into much, but that is quite interesting - that you can cast spells during a long rest. Suddenly there is no need to waste a slot on Mage Armor, that ninth-level slot on Foresight, or any other long-lasting spell really, just cast them just before the long rest is done and, bam, get them right back for the day ahead. It works RAW, and, according to Sage Advice, it is as intended.)
Since the good berries last a while, you could cast before the rest and have them available the next morning.
As far as stuff like mage armor, even if there are other RAW interpretations, I would say you have to spend any leftover spell slots before resting in order to recover them. I would not allow casting them in the moments before you end your rest and then instantly recovering them for the next day. That defeats the purpose of needing rest to recover magic energies.
Tanis gives Petmailer a wan smile as the drow sits down beside him and listens carefully.
"No, I'm surprised to say I've seen no signs of pursuit, but I agree, we should continue as is without delay. At least to Darklake where hopefully the water may make our trail harder to follow. I've been trying to cover up our trail as best I can as well. We have to consider whether the drow - our captors I mean - know these passageways well enough that they would loop ahead and set up an ambush. I trust Vethna as a forward scout, though. She seems very good at this."
There's no question who the 'her' is that Petmailer refers to when he says not all drow are like her. Ilvara. She is not done with us.
Tanis is intrigued by Petmailer's description of the factions within the drow. He doesn't know why he never considered it until his capture.
"I served under Sheriff Markham Southwell of Bryn Shander. I was not within any of the five factions myself, though I believe Southwell and Speaker Duvessa Shane of Bryn Shander are both publicly known to be Lord's Alliance. So I suppose I am... was... an asset. I don't know too much about that, though - I grew up in a smaller town."
Tanis idly tries to figure out if Petmailer is part of a faction, without pressing him on it. Petmailer doesn't come off like an Emerald Enclave or Order of the Gauntlet Type. Maybe a Harper? Or secretly a Zhentarim after all?
"I've always known in principle not all drow are like... her. But I've seen it with my own eyes now and I trust you, Petmailer, as I hope you trust me. I admit, however, that I do not trust Sarith, given that he tried to sneak away on his own during the fight with the ooze. But it seems like we need him as a navigator. Hell, until a couple days ago, I would have said I don't trust bugbears and goblins, and would have been unsure about lizardfolk, but I trust them now too." (he says the part about Sarith quietly, only in private).
"If we succeed in escaping, where do you plan to go? I know I must get to the surface, as years underground here will drive me mad. I can already feel it. Conversely, I know the surface is not kind to dark elves. Icewind Dale, the larger area that I am from, tends to have less direct sunlight than areas further south. Very cold, though..."
Disappointed that they were unable to glean anything interesting from the beetles, Phodoxia will continue on with the group until they settle down at Vethna's camping spot. She looks around for somewhere comfortable to sit, finds a spot next to Stool, and she sits down by herself for a few minutes, staring at the wall and not talking to anyone. She'll lay down and go to sleep after a short time, and get up to take second watch with the other goblin, and ask him for a berry at the same time.
I should add - Tanis hands out a Goodberry to anyone that wants one and takes one himself at the start of a long rest. If I see that a PC, or NPC, even Buppido or Sarith asks for one, I will subtract it from Tanis' inventory.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vethna perception (for whiche ever watch she is on... With advantage as she would be taking watch with someone, as we decided on 2 people per watch): 24
Petmailer nods to Tanis and says, “Yes, I was supposed to be an “asset” as well, to the Harpers. One of their agents reached out to me, and I told them of the Zhentarim infiltration of some of the highest levels of our government, their plans. They said they would keep me safe….” His voice trails off. “Now I just want to leave it all. Icewind Dale sounds nice, I don’t mind the cold. That is a great idea.” He flashes you a wan smile. He takes a goodberry from him and pops it in his mouth, offering Tanis some water from one of his water skins. “I hope we can make it out of this.”

Kisiki notices that the bugbear has been silent and approaches with a question, "Born into captivity, but now free. Have you dared to dream of life beyond bars?"
During the second watch, when Shoowaa and Phodoxia are on guard together, they are distracted (perhaps arguing about the whole issue with the tail) and don't notice something that happens. When they get ready to turn things over to the next watch, you all realize that Topsy and Turvy are missing. Strangely, their bags and some of their stuff is still around, but the gnome twins are nowhere to be seen.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Phodoxia munches contentedly on the goodberry and engages in a lively swapping of tales (not tails!) with Shoowaa, in Goblin, about strange and terrifying forests, and unicorns vs centaurs, and life in a goblin tribe which it seems she's known much more of than him. Finishing up with a few pithy continuations of her earlier debate, such as "a lizardman's tail is a goblin's hangnail", Phodoxia jumps up to wake the next watch when she catches Shoowaa starting to snooze (from fatigue and not her bad rhymes).
It takes them all a minute to realize that Topsy and Turvy are missing, but then the search is underway... Phodoxia looks for any sign of the twins, and then picks gently through their belongings, looking for clues of what might have happened to them.

Sounds like the consensus was to move on by the beetles without disturbing them.
You don't have any other encounters for the rest of the day and are able to make good progress.
Anyone taking a shift on the watch, roll me a perception check. If two of you are on watch together, one of you could roll at advantage if you prefer.
