Johnathan uses his ability to float to go up the stairs with utmost ease. He goes up 12 flights with no problem, while the others scramble behind him. Ralik races past him, chanting the 'oah oah' that is his customary, while Travin and Dageron are able to keep pace with Johnathan. Shavaris shoots past them...and then trips, eating it on the stairs and getting some banged up shins.
Unbelievably, Adam, who must have spent all his energy doing push ups at each landing, was only 10 flights up when the purple shimmer filled the bottom of the stairwell. A glance down revealed that the bottom of the stairwell was quickly filling with purple slime.
Stair Race:
Ralik- 18 (9 Dashes x 2 = 18 flights of stairs)
Adam- 10 (5 dashes x 2 = 10 flights of stairs)
Travin- 12 (6 Dashes x 2 = 12 flights of stairs)
Dageron- 12 (6 dashes x 2 = 12 flights of stairs)
Shavaris- 14 (7 dashes x 2 = 14 flights of stairs)
Not wanting to tire himself out Travin keeps pace without dashing. Though as he is running he keeps an eye on the rising goop observing it's movements and such like he tries to figure out why he is feeling a prickling dread creep up his crooked spine. (Arcana 11)
Seeing the slime below, Adam stops his pushups, keeps jogging up the stairs without dashing. “Have to rest in between, c’mon fellas, gotta get some cardio in here. Cross train as you travel…. Whoa! What the hell is that? I’ve gotta bad feeling about this….”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Johnathan gives a concerned look as the goo starts blocking their exit. Just great. Guess that confirms who has been sending that to us now huh. Johnathan continues to levitate upwards in the centre of the stairs. Let’s keep going, Adam for crying out loud stop doing exercises and move it. This isn’t a game and we can’t afford to drag you up here.
The band is able to run nearly two thirds of the way up the stairs before they become aware of a few things happening.
First is the existing problem; the slime in the bottom of the stairwell rises, filing the bottom three levels of the stairs without progressing any further.
Second, is some noise coming from outside the building. It sounds like increased traffic, and perhaps alarms or sirens. They're momentary, however, followed by the sounds of banging and slamming, like doors being shut hard. There's also some loud shouting that is barely audible through the walls.
However, all this is drowned out by the third happening; the sound of something entering the stairway above them.
The Dawn Guard was approximately two thirds of the way up the stairway now, next to the twenty fifth floor, when something began to move in the stairs above them. Then something dropped down between the alternating cases and fell down, down toward the slime below...and exploded into a ball of fire. Heat washed up the ladderwell toward them, bathing their faces and rattling their eardrums in the confined space.
It was like whatever was above them had read Ward's playbook, and was now ready to rain explosives down the steps on them...
Travin retreats into his junkshell instinctively as the heat washes over them. "We's should goes in through the doorses! Yeh yeh! Works our way up through the floors hmmm?" He calls out to the others as they get to the next floor, the door to the floor proper from the stairwell temptingly close.
The ball of fire makes Shavaris throw her body against the wall of the stairwell and take a few breaths as this dash was well... a lot of stairs. She then looks at Travin, "How do you propose we work our way up through the floors? The elevator is out of commission and these are the stairs..."
Johnathan takes evasive action when the fire starts raining from above. He lands on the stairs addresses the others. We have no choice, we need another way up. Let’s look on this floor, maybe they have another staircase. With that Johnathan opens the doors to the 25 floor and looks for any signs of traps or hostiles.
Travin casts a quick spell and carves a 5ft hole in the wall out of the stairwell and into the current floor, he peeks through waving at Johnathan on the other side and then gestures toward it "eh! Eh?! Yeh yeh!" He grins "Travin can makes holeses in the ceiling, hmm? It's slower but maybes more survivables! Yeh yeh!"
Shavaris laughs despite the situation, Travin's grin and the way he was showing off being infectious. "Sounds good, let's get out of this stairwell!" but she follows Johnathan through the door.
Adam does one last jumping jack on the way in, then follows Shavaris. He works hard to hide his breaths which are coming at a more rapid pace than normal. “Ahhh, that was invigorating. Am I right? Don’t want to see what’s at the bottom of that stairwell though. And I get the feeling that we are definitely not wanted here…”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Unless the current floor is occupied and the group need to fight, travin carves a 5ft wide hole in the ceiling above, letting the remnants fall ti the floor. He ties a rope around himself and then positions himself under the hole, the armchair on his back acting like a ladder to assist anyone who is going straight up."Go go go!" He giggles
The Dawn Guard bust through the doors and into the 25th Floor, leaving the bad guys (whoever they may be...) in the stairway behind them. The twenty fifth floor stretches out before them, a yellow carpeted hallway and a bronze statue of a knight all that is there to greet them...save for the windows. There are blue lights flashing through the windows...
Travin takes a look around and gives a "nope!" Before carving a 5ft cube out of the ceiling in front of Adam. The block falls down and helpfully provides a small step up towards the small but workable hole in the ceiling for more ascension should any of the party take Travin's offer.
Adam climbs and takes the offer of Travin’s help. “Let’s keep moving! I’d like to catch up with whoever is raining crap down on us from above…nearly singed my buttocks back there in the stairwell.”

Shavaris smiles up at Adam, "Your buttocks look fine from here!" and she summons Eloise on the floor above and then swaps places with her. Immediately she looks around to see if there are any threats before looking to Travin to do that again....
Adam manages to turn around quickly with a deep smile and says “Why.. thank you, my dear.” *wink* And he keeps moving. His gluteal muscles rhythmically propel him forward and upward.

Travin stands on the block that he carved out and hops a little up off of it towards the hole, his junkpile clinging as he does. But the ceiling is too far away for someone so hunched and short and not acrobatic at all. He has no flying boots or special echo skill to assist him.
Instead he throws a rope up and yells out "tie travins off yeh yeh!" And once that is done he begins climbing
Johnathan gives a shocked look as Travin begins carving holes in the infrastructure of the building. Neat, this will save us loads of time. Following everyone’s lead Johnathan levitates to the next floor, tying the rope to help Travin up if needed. Johnathan notices Shavaris and Adam begin flirting and chuckles a little, but decides to leave it there. Well let’s keep going, those flashing lights can’t be good for us.
Trav climbs the rope with the assistance of those above already and then once up on the floor above he carves another 5ft hole in the ceiling, before waiting for Dageron and Ralik to catch up.
