Trex's clear omission of the "research" topic had you thinking and noticing several things that look unnatural - besides his vocabulary - the satchel and many other pieces of clothing that Trex is wearing are very uncharacteristic for a kobold.
"Yeah, that's very odd." Tysris says after hearing Trex, a suspicious look on his face. He nods when Ghathi notices it too. "Where are you from Trex? You don't look like any of the other kobolds. Where did you get this outfit?" He touches the wings, the garb he is wearing, the sachel, examining all of them closely, looking for signs of a maker or any insignia that could designate origin. Was this stolen?

"You are right, how can I or the rest of the kobolds pose any threat to you or some well defended miners, my fragile bones aren't a match to your crossbows and magic....I found these, the clothes and the satchel and I made the wings with some miner's tools hoping that this would give a levarage to lead the rest of the kobolds"
"Tell me, uh Trex, where did you find the clothes and satchel? Was it on a dead body? Do you remember?" Tysris stops and doesn't move further. He looks to the others with a look in his eye like "We need to settle this before we go further." He holds his hands on his hips in an expression of stubbornness.

Seeing Trex getting very defensive when asked about his gear even Sarya realizes the kobold is more than a little peculiar now. "Yes Trex, please tell us all about yourself now, hold nothing back please." She says, touching her ruby ring that briefly shimmers with a fiery red light.

Trex, now cleary upset says "I suggest we keep moving forward, I guarantee you that if you take me to the town speaker we'll have a chat, get to an agreement and the town will have nothing to worry, it'll prosper. But if you keep asking these questions we will have to engage in something that I honestly would rather avoid...for your own security. Are we moving forward? or will you continue this charade?"
Sarya shakes her head. "What do you mean engage in something you would prefer to avoid? What are you talking about Trex? Veiled threats won't get you to the Speaker, that's for sure." She says firmly.

Ghathi says, "It's your charade Trex, not ours. Best you explain yourself now." He supports the others who do not want to proceed without hearing more from this kobold.

"You're a loony Trex, but possibly a dangerous loony, and I'm not taking any chances with you." Sarya snarls, still more than a little confounded by Trex's weird behaviour, but as the eccentric and now threatening kobold draws his blade the red-haired half-elf steps in behind mighty Ghathi and swftly curses the kobold (Hex, dex) before unleashing a beam of red fiery crackling force against it.
Trex's body falls after Sarya's attack, but seconds after the body hits the ground you can see the ghost of a human floating next to it. The aparition seems to be from a middle aged human, it doesn't look like the body of a warrior it actually looks a bit feeble, it has a receding hairline and wears no armor just winter gear with the same satchel Trex (the kobold) was wearing. The ghost starts hitting its head angrily "it was all going too well, but this one had to get into my head" (pointing at Tysris and starts mimicking with a dumb voice) “Measly little gem, hardly worth one gold. Are you holding out on me? Have you kept all of the good sites to yourself?" takes a breath of air and relaxes, this all feels a rather funny than scary but the ghost turns to you and as it screams the same way a man with an enourmous amount of pain, his face shows now a mauled barely recognizable figure, as if a creature broke it open in half with such force that the skull was broke unevenly, the brain pulsates and the eyes wen flying from their sockets. As you see this horryfing visage you'll need to make a a wisdom ST 13 (Sarya, Tysris and Gahthi who where having a conversation with Trex. Since Dwalt mentioned that he was distracted looking for some materials he won't make the check, while he is within range he is not looking at the ghost. Same case with Grim actually mentioned reappearing next to Dwalt) if you fail, you'll be frightened
