Falser turned around and continued in the direction of their destination as the group discussed tactics. “I’m a thief by trade.” He clicked his tongue loudly, “A damn good one at that.” Self-confidence wasn’t something the halfling had a shortage of. “I’m used to working in the shadows. If our enemies are too busy to lay their eyes on me then they will feel the bite of my blades, and what a bite it shall be.” Death and killing came with the territory of his chosen profession but it didn’t mean he liked it. It wasn’t a clean job if the rogue had to spill blood to achieve his goals.
Eyes widen at the commotion coming from what could only be the cartographer’s cottage and Falser looks over his shoulder at the rest of his party, a mischievous grin planting itself in it’s usual spot. “I told ya he’d be a old cadger. Now to see if he is covered in ink.” The halfling elbowed Bjorn in the ribs since he was too short to slap him on the shoulder. “Alright, Bjorn the spokesman, let’s see what ya got!”
Aura’s interest was piqued by Falser’s bold proclamation, her eyes flicking to his small figure. A thief? How interesting! that definitely sounded like a profession that came with a lot of stories. She made a mental note to ask the halfling for tales of his surely heroic adventures later.
Her mind was quickly taken off the thought by the mapmakers reply to Bjorn’s query. Wanting an opportunity to observe her peers skill’s, the genasi decided to fall back and let her party deal with gathering information from the old cartographer.
“No, no I need no help from scoundrels like you. Go run along, enjoy life before you become like me. Unless you can pay that is….. for I am the mapmaker!”
Falser rolled his eyes, this was already getting annoying. “We aren’t here to help you, old man! Just got some questions is all!” He kicked the door to add a exclamation mark to his statement. “Ya know? With the the monster thats more annoying than this gods-forsaken eternal snow storm!”
Falser stuck him tongue out at Kimara’s back as she brushed by him to take charge of the situation. Small people were allowed to be childish if they wanted, it came with the territory. As the half-elf haggled with the greedy old man Falser glanced around the room for anything valuable. Not that he was going to steal anything, it was just a habit of his. “Or you could just help us out of the goodness of your heart, old man.” The thief muttered just loud enough that his companions could hear him.
Aura stood at the back of the crowded cottage, shifting uncomfortably from foot to foot. Being so closely related to the wind and air, she did not do well in tight enclosed spaces. She snickered a little at Falser's antics, but her face was mostly set into a grimace, an unusual expression for the cheerful genasi.
She patiently waited for her party members to finish with their business, uncomplaining but not participating in the conversation.
The old man rolls his bulging eyes. "Fine. I'll tell you whatever you want. But if you want a map, it'll cost you. I don't give away my life's work without someone paying for it."
"The monster?" He continues, "why do you need to know about it? Times are hard enough without spry young people like yourselves getting killed out in the woods."

The mapmaker takes down a map of good mead. He points to three locations on a trail leading to the town. “The attacks have been here, here, and here” he says. “You want the map to keep, it’ll be 5 gold.

"Hello!" Bjorn exclaims in the direction of the Cottage, "We are here to speak with the map maker who lives here. Is everything alright in there?"
Heads to the door of the cottage and prepares to knock.

“Eh?” A voice query’s from inside. “Speak up man! The ears don’t do so well! I am the mapmaker, if that’s who you seek!”

Bjorn smiles, happy to let Xantzu take the lead.

“Gold you say? Come on in, I’m sure we can work something out….”

Aura follows the rest of the party into the cartographer’s cottage.
Kimara began "We can offer between 5-10 gold pieces, for information on the beast destroying the stocks of mead, and a map of the surrounding area."
She had always been one to respect her elders.

Hi.
Kimara begins, "*sigh*... look just give us some info and a map please?"
Bjorn calmly looks upon the map maker and waits patiently.
