“What training do I need?” Miesha asks, curious. “I kind of assumed it was a learn as you to type thing? I’m so sorry, am I wasting your time? I totally do not want to be wasting your time, I’m sure you have way more important thangs to do than humor me…”
“I mean I have had a lot of informal training with my spear and shield here… Growing up with a lot of brothers and all, you know?” Miesha hurries to explain before he can agree with her and leave. “And believe you me, they didn’t take it easy on me!”
“But if there is a place to take formal guard lessons? A school or something?” Miesha suggests, hopefully… “Or private tutoring, perhaps? Is that what I need?”
Jasper - The small glowing rune has some effect that will be triggered upon opening the door.
Maggwyn - The barrels and crates have the items that you would expect under a kitchen, mostly foods with some miscellaneous storage. The door has a fairly advanced locking mechanism and has been reinforced by layers of metal bars.
Miesha - "Well if you have some training with your weapons then I'm sure that Gotir would be more than happy to help train you further. Do you have any other special skills that we should know about?"
"Special skills?" Miesha repeats loudly, with a bit of alarm. "Surely you're not suggesting something inappropriate?!?" Miesha steps back and looks upon the head guard with a bit of disgust and contempt.
"Goiter? Did he ask to sample your special skills before hiring you?" Miesha calls out with a quick glance over her shoulder to the other guards.
Miesha - The guard looks shocked. "No, that wasn't the intent. Gotir showed us some impressive juggling stunts and Hirdos showed us his calligraphy skills." Gotir nods in agreement. "I really meant nothing by it, I assure you." From what you've determined of this individual, this seems to be a truthful statement.

Standing behind his Minor Illusion, if Crannoc sees Jasper pausing at the door and the tabaxi points out the arcane trap, Crannoc will briefly switch Temuth'sGuidance back to himself so he can have a look as well, though he knows little of such magic.

Maggwyn takes in the locked door with the metal bars, wondering if what they were looking for would possibly be locked in this cellar? Oh well, they need to get moving. She reaches forward to check and make sure it is locked.
If she is finding it locked she pulls out her own set of thieves tools and looks back at Kass with an devilish smile on her tiefling face. "Tools like these? I appreciate the offer, but I'll give it a shot." Not waiting for an answer, she gets to work on the large door.
“So your speak of special skills is entirely innocent?” Miesha asks with a sneer. “Juggling and calligraphy is all you are interested in? ‘Cause these special skills will help a person be a guard?”
Miesha scoffs. “More interested in how well I play the pan flute than the skin flute? Sure… sure. But tell me, why is either more important than how well I could guard and defend?”
Jasper recalls what he has seen about the layout of this building and looks for the nearest available windows, whether it be in the hall or a room they've already cleared. He considers using his climbing ability to try to enter this room via an exterior window.
(DM maybe you can help with the layout on this one to find the shortest path from an available window to the exterior of this room?)
Crannoc - You glean no more than Jasper did from the rune.
Maggwyn and Kass - After a moment of picking the lock, you hear a click and know that you've opened it. Glancing inside you see a dark room, but it is filled with the glint of what little light is let in through the doorway against metal. You see weapons, armor, and some crates that have a symbol on them that you can't currently make out. In the center of the room is a suit of armor, standing upright. As you open the door, a light feels the vacant space where eyes might be and the armor moves on its own. It faces the door way and moves towards you.
Miesha - The guard ponders for a moment. "Well, they're mostly just conversation starters. There aren't that many actual threats in this area so it's good to have some hobbies. Your training with weapons is still the most important factor to your hire. Now I'll tell Sir Brodstin about your interest in the job, and he'll determine whether or not to hire you. He should be back in a few hours if you want to stick around and train with Gotir. Have a good day!" Unless you have any additional questions, he turns to head back into the house.
Jasper - There should be a window from each of the three rooms on this floor, though the left room should have two. You could potentially exit any of those windows to climb out onto the side of the house and the roof to access the other windows.
Jasper decides that his new plan is to sneak into the room with the sleeping individual, check for paperwork or useful items, then go out a window and around to this rune-locked room using his feline climbing skills. He starts by checking the door for traps, etc. before entering.
Not wanting to allow this guard to renter the building and find the others, Miesha goes on the offensive. “I knew you were a pig! You make your vague offer of ‘special skills’ then run away when declined without even seeing what I can do??”
Miesha casts Compelled Duel on the guard as he is starting to try to leave and shoved him in the arm. “At least be man enough to let me show you what I can do!” She demands and then walks about 29 feet away into an open area and waits for him…

Maggwyn quickly attempts to sneak along the wall to see what the symbol is on the crates and if there is any other papers in the room. Hoping that Kass can keep the things attention on them.
Stealth 22
She then tries to run through the open door and close it on the animated armor before it leaves the room.
(If this is possible, it is what she is doing, if the armor is too close to them for such a maneuver, she'll slam the door shut first.)
Jasper - Going to the door on the left, you see no traps. You try the handle and it opens with ease, allowing you to peer inside. There is a bunk-bed arrangement in the room. There are seven guards, as this appears to be their quarters. Three of them are currently donning armor and taking up their weapons and are preparing to leave the room.
Miesha - The guards all look somewhat shocked, but the leading guard looks as though he is struggling to tear himself away from the situation.
Guard Wisdom Save - 14
Maggwyn - You slip through the doorway and along the wall. It is clear that the animated armor's main focus is on Kass, but you get the feeling that you are not going unseen either. As you get to the back of the room, the armor lunges towards Kass. (We will enter a pseudo-initiative, based on Dexterity as there are so few combatants. The order: Maggwyn, Kass, Armor. Investigations that you do on the items in the room can be done on your turn.)
Jasper quickly steps back and turns to shake his head 'No' at where Crannoc is. He glances around to see if there are stairs to a third floor before potentially heading back down, all three upstairs rooms being problematic.
(OOC: DM there are just three rooms up here, correct? Any sign of a third floor/attic from our initial outside view of the house or here in the 2nd floor hall?)

Miesha - The guard moves toward you and, with some trepidation, swings with his axe.
Attack against Miesha - Attack: 13 Damage: 10
Jasper - (I hadn't initially thought of this, but this building would certainly have an attic.) You do see a trapdoor on the ceiling above you that you could open to access the attic, though you don't know how loud that process would be.
"Woah! Hey, hey, hey!!" Miesha loudly calls out after taking a hit from the guards axe. "I call out your actions so you try to kill me?!?" Miesha also dons her shield and spear and strikes a defensive pose in case he strike again.

He then switches Guidance back to Jasper, whispering "Should we try the door with the sleeper or listen at the door with the voices instead?"
