"It wasn't an easy fight" says the dwarf with deep exhalation "I hope the remaining cultist will flee but I have to admit I have the feeling that we haven't faced their actual leader yet" he looks to the others, "Kriv and Zale have sustained serious wounds, I suggest to take a break so they can regain their strength"
OCC: I would suggest taking short rest here what do you say?
"It would certainly be wise to regain our strength..." Khessa smiles, passes her arm around Eric's shoulders and smiles at him, happy to feel him side by side "but I don't know if the situation allows us... I wouldn't want the cultists could help the bullywugs against the lizardfolk, if we give them time to organize..."
The blonde arcane warrior looks from Kriv and Zale, clearly in need of a moment's respite, to Snapjaw, whose fellows are out fighting the bullywugs...
"On the other hand, Rezmir fled (probably along with Azbara Jos), from what Borngray said - so perhaps the cultists are leaderless at the moment..." the tall adventurer muses aloud "Perhaps we can afford a short rest, after all. Among other things, we are in a very defensible position, we just need to guard the stairs. I can as well guard them alone; I was luckier than most and came out of this confrontation unscathed".
Kriv breathes heavily. It’s hard to tell which large red splotches of blood on his clothing are his and which are from the cultists. “There is a battle being waged, we rest when it’s over.”
Zale, who would have completely agreed with Krivs words had she been the only on near death, promptly bonks the larger Dragonborn on the head. “Ye be a damn fool if ye wanna keep fighting in that state. You be more hurt then I be! I thought you was dead for a moment! We be takin a break now!” Zale then proceeds to cough up a bit of blood before plopping down on the floor.
Since the decision made seems to be that of temporary rest, Khessa takes the opportunity to bring Borngray's corpse back to the room (she is still super-quick so it takes only two round for her to go and come back) and, once there, search both him and the other dead enemies. All in all, they no longer need their possessions... so it's better to put them to good use (perhaps against the Cult) if possible! Do they have anything useful or valuable?
The weapons and shields of your enemies are obvious: 5 Scimitars, 3 Morningstars, 1 Spiked Shield, 2 Ruined Shields and it looks like Borngrey had a Shield, a Dagger and a Longsword.
Since you spent an hour in the room you'll find Rezmir’s notes describing the portal beneath the castle and how to operate it, including its command word (“Draezir”). You also notice the matched onyx carvings of Black Dragons near the top of the staircase. A serious collector would pay up to 3,000 gp for the pair. They are three feet tall and weigh 400 pounds apiece.
There's a sitting room (nothing here) that leads to Rezmir's Sleeping Chamber. A large bed, two wardrobes, a standing mirror, and an armor stand with a spare suit of scale mail armor dominate the room. There's also a 2-foot-tall statuette of a Black Dragon, made from actual Black Dragon scales and claws, with ruby eyes and diamond teeth. It is perched atop a heap of treasure consisting of actual gold and gems. Let me know if you touch or open anything in this room.
Khessa's blue eyes light up with interest as she finds Rezmir's notes: "Friends! It is written here that, beneath the castle, there is a portal... these notes are describing it and how to operate it as well! They even include its command word, 'Draezir'... Rezmir must have escaped using that way, maybe we should use it to chase her too, once we finish 'cleaning' this place". She keep the notes, for possible future consultation.
"These objects are worth a lot..." the blonde arcane warrior comments, realizing the excellent workmanship of the matched onyx carvings of Black Dragons near the top of the staircase "It's a shame that they weigh so much... But I am able to drag one... I bet Kriv or Zale can manage to drag the other one along. We should be able to bring them with us once we're done here. And then, if we meet a collector before we encounter enemies, we could make a nice sum... and maybe buy something useful!" (images of lots of spells copied into her spellbook and of a gleaming plate armor linger briefly in her mind...)
The tall adventurer also observes with a critical eye the weapons and armor removed from the corpses. She was about to start a ritual to find out if some items emanated magic... but she realizes that Eric has already started working on this! Smiling at her beloved dwarf, who somehow always manages to be beside her and do the right thing to help her, she then simply waits for him to finish the ritual.
Apparently, though, the most tempting treasure is in Rezmir's Sleeping Chamber... The incredibly precious statuette must be worth a fortune - and seems easily transportable - as is the associated treasure trove of gold and gems. But who would leave so much wealth unprotected? Khessa prefers to wait until Eric can examine the emanations of magic from that treasure too... and that Zale, after having finished recovering her strength, can contribute in her turn, looking for any mechanical traps.
Towards the middle of the hour, Zale has moved from a sitting position to laying flat on her back. Everything hurts, so there's no comfortable position. Especially not with her heavy belt on..but there ain't no way she's taking that off. They could be ambushed any time now! She sort of hears Khessa say something about hauling one of those statues out..which sounds like a great looting strategy...not. That would be fine and dandy as long as they get this place cleaned out first. Wait maybe that's what the tall warrior meant? Eh. She can't think right now. She just needs rest.
Once she's had sufficient rest, Zale will join the Khessa and Eric in the other room. Her thievish instincts have her stalking right over to the gold before she registers that Eric is casting a spell. Recognizing it as the same one Khessa used when she realized Zale had two magic items of her own, the former pirate reluctantly stops to wait for the dwarf to finish his spell...besides, this room could be full of traps. It would have been foolish of her to simply snatch the gold.
Kriv hangs his head, realizing Zale is probably right. He takes a seat on the floor and leans his head against the wall. Kriv closes his eyes and allows himself to rest.
The closed wardrobes, mirror, and scale mail armor don't give off a magical aura. Neither do the statuette and the heap of treasure.
[[ OOC: ...and not the defeated enemies' equipment either, I guess ]]
Khessa turns to Zale, doubtful: "It may be that Rezmir placed great trust in her guards... but it seems so strange to me that she left such a treasure without further defenses! Would you like to check if you detect mechanical traps?"
(lol let's hope Investigation isn't to close to perception XD)
Nodding to Khessa, Zale proceeds to carefully investigate the room.
Investigation: 10
The first wardrobes looks just plain, the other wardrobe has painted doors. They show a depiction of a five-headed Dragon. The mirror looks like a regular mirror, but the Armor is clearly made for a Half Dragon. No one in your party would fit it. And finally the statuette perched atop a heap of treasure. With your expert eye you don't see how this could be trapped without using magic. The room seems clear of traps to you.
Considering that her beloved dwarf has not detected any magical dangers and that her trap expert dragonborn friend has not detected any mechanical ones, Khessa shrugs and smiles: "Evidently, Rezmir trusted her guards".
The blonde arcane warrior enters, retrieves a sheet from the bed and wraps the statue and precious items with it, knotting the edges of the sheet to improvise a bag for ease of transport.

"Yes" smiles Eric "you two may start resting, we can keep watching, in case any of them returns" he says to Khessa and Calvin

Make an Investigation check please. So I can also tell you what you find in the room.
You haven't heard the drum (sounding alarm), so Snapjaw's friends probably took out the Bullywugs at the Barbican.

Eric will help Khessa in her research by casting Detect Magic as ritual
