Bjorn, engrossed in reading the murals inscriptions, wanders passed the magical trap without setting it off. Zaal watches with a bit of internal amusement as the rest of the party is whipped from the ground, and hanging upside down from magical ropes not a moment after the venerable Sparhawk cautioned him about how dangerous this place is. After a moment or two a gently swinging Frangipani shape changes into a giant stegosaurus, torso curled upon the ground as her legs are still ensnared by the magic trap, filling the hallway with her massive form.

Zaal blinks as almost the entire party is suddenly strung up like a flock of chickens before heading to the butcher. Then the herons and snakes begin rushing for the one person not hanging from an invisible rope, and without thinking Zaal steps into a shadow and then teleports into the shadow of the creature closest to Bjorn and attacks it with a series of quick and concise strikes.
Bonus action: Shadow Step (gain advantage on first melee attack)
Eberk tugs at the rope for a second before noticing the creatures rushing them. A familiar spectral mace appears, decorated with the moon in its various phases. The mace swings at one of the herons. Meanwhile, Eberk struggles against the rope, dangling him from the ceiling

Zaal’s slick movement gets him into striking range on the giant snake as it was poised to snack on Bjorn. The first strike caught a weird angle, and glanced off the scaley hide, but the second landed solid, making the beast change its course slightly.

"Odd question," Bjorn grunts as he catches his leaping axe in one hand, "but none of ye happen to have --" he lunges forward and casts Green-Flame Blade at two of the herons, "-- a vial of fresh blood --" and then weaves back away, drawing strands of shadow to form a second axe "-- do ye? Lir?"
Heron 1: 24 to hit, 16 damage
Heron 2: simply takes 10 if the attack hit the first one
(Hoping to end my move far enough back that a monster coming at me would take an attack from Zaal on the way there. Got 40ft to work with.)

( you are near center of the hallway. The herons would have made it 1/2 way from the door to your position. The snake is right on you so going for the herons would give it an opportunity strike on you if you go for the birds, plus you would need to enter the swarm for melee.)
