Elk Running Perception: 20
Elk Running lets out another curse as the arrow strikes her in the thigh. She can feel the tip protruding from the other side. Even in the darkness, she can sense that there is a great deal of blood.
It is like not be the only blood spilled this night.
Where it touches the snow, it steams briefly, to match her heavy breath. She closes her eyes, calming herself and focusing her senses. Beneath the ice, latent life stirs, stirred by hunger for the red dew of battle. Elk Running calls to it, urging it upward, coaxing it into the night with a promise of more. Dark, twisting vines, stripped bare by winter's chill, erupt from beneath the snow around the sled, grasping at the creatures.
(Casting entangle (DC 14), around the enemy. If it fails, the enemy becomes restrained)
Sabetha crouch walks to a closer tree and takes careful aim with her longbow. Just as a Goblin is pushed out to the side of the sled by his squabbling comrades, she releases her hold on the arrow, which flies straight and true, into the chest of the creature. It drops senselessly. The shouting behind the sled grows louder. Aura and Uthal are both surprised by the action thus far and unsure what to do. They both stay where they are and prepare to dodge any incoming missiles. Aubin then shouts out his threat, aided in intimidating the Goblins by the damage done by Sabetha. You hear heated arguing and then one of the Goblins shouts out, in broken Common, "We wanna 'render, but Izobai, boss Goblin, maybe she not like. You maybe better talk wit her." (OOC: Elk Running and Blackberry, you are welcome to keep your actions; but if you'd like to change them, I'll allow it).
Aubin pauses a moment to stare at the hawk. He then looks to the goblins "Throw your weapons away from you and come out with your hands up. Yes it might be a good idea to talk to Izobai"
Blackberry scurries over beside Sabetha, and begins to speak in a loud voice, which squeaks. He stops and clears his throat, and tries again.
"Where is this Izobai? We wish to speak with her. We have come for the sled and the metal! They belong to the fallen dwarf and his clan! You must give them back. We have a goliath and we're not afraid to use him!"
(I'll keep my original action, but dismiss the vines when it appears they're willing to surrender)
When it's apparent the enemy will surrender, Elk Running releases the vines, which slink back beneath the snow. She snaps the arrow's shaft and pulls it clean through her thigh, binding the wound tight with some scraps of cloth. Momentarily, she steps out from behind the trees, trying to hide the injury but nonetheless exhibiting a slight limp. She keeps her bow ready and simply observes the conversation.
Sabetha tries to hide her surprise at the effect of her arrow on the fight, then gives up, allowing herself a grin, which widens at Blackberry's antics. Fading quickly, though, at the sight of Elk Running's injury. And realizing that she herself has just killed a humanoid for the first time in her life.
She makes sure the goblins are complying with Aubin's surrender terms (throwing down their weapons, hands away from their sides) before calling out:
"Were you planning on continuing to haul these heavy iron ingots yourselves? I see the tracks of another sled with bigger footprints in the snow. Is that where Izobai is? Does she have pack animals to pull the other sled? Either way, there's no more need for bloodshed, but this iron is not yours."
Sabetha keeps an arrow to her longbow and an eye on the hawk if she sees it, not wanting to be attacked from above. "Is the bird with you?"
The Goblins throw down their bows and daggers and come out from the sled with their hands held high. "'S this way," says the Goblin who has been speaking for the group, "Hawk is hers; You kill if you wanna." One or two of the goblins behind him gasp in horror.
Aubin turns to his companions and whispers "Can anyone knock out the hawk, it looks like it is important to Izobai, we might be able to use it as a bargaining chip"

(How high overhead is the hawk flying?)
Blackberry will cautiously approach the sled, flamethrower held out aimed at the goblin leader, and proceed to investigate its contents. Does this seem to be the iron they were searching for? If only a portion, can he estimate what percent of the total iron is here? Is there anything else on the sled?
Looking at the iron, each ingot has the mark of a foaming mug on it, which the dwarves told you was the symbol of Clan Battlehammer. According to your best guess, the full contingent of iron is there.
Backing away from the sled, the harengon calls out to his comrades, "Seems like it's all there, the iron. Was there anything else we were supposed to recover?"
Aubin turns to his companions and whispers "Can anyone knock out the hawk, it looks like it is important to Izobai, we might be able to use it as a bargaining chip"
Sabetha answers Aubin doubtfully: "I can likely put an arrow through the hawk, but I do not wish to kill an innocent wild animal unnecessarily," (she glances uncomfortably at Elk Running) "besides which, if the bird belongs to Izobai, how does it help us bargain if we've already killed it?"
"Seems as if we have two choices. Take the sled and the iron now without treating with Izobai. And risk her sending goblins to harass us. Or first visit the bigger sled to treat with Izobai before taking this sled. Either way, once we get back to Oobok, we can lay his wrapped remains on the iron."
Aubin looks at the goblins and in a nonchalant manner he pulls out his rope and tightly ties them together. "We are having a chat, we will let you know our decision. Of course if it were up to me I would kill all of you. Now tell me what you know about Izobai and her location" He tightens the knot enough that the rope is biting into their skin.
Before he heads west, Blackberry will say, " 'Scuse me, Miss Running.. or is it Miss Elk?... anyway, if you have a moment I could take a look at that wound of yours, I might have something in my collection that could help a bit..."
Aubin and Sabetha lead the way west and Blackberry and Elk Running bring up the rear, with the Goblins marching in between. Roughly 80” ahead of you, you see a second sled, this one pulled by two polar bears, neither of which looks like it has gotten a good meal in a long time. Standing on the sled is a larger Goblin, wearing a rusty chain shirt. She raises her arm and a hawk alights on her forearm.
She calls out, sarcastically, “I see you fought like brave goblins, Garzak! Very impressive.”
Garzak, who is apparently the Goblin you’ve been talking to, answers, “You know nothing, Izobai! They come at us all sneaky like. All we did was shoot them some and then they kill Nerguk real quick; he not even have time to die! They very bad, very angry people!”
Izobai looks at you appraisingly, “Hello very bad, very angry people. May I ask why you are attacking our legitimate salvage operation?”

"I meant capturing the hawk alive. I am fine just taking the sled back, but how do we stop Izobai from sending goblins to attack us from behind?"
Aubin kicks away the weapons from the goblins.
The Goblin asks, "So we going or what?"

Sabetha shakes her head indicating that she, at least, has no way of capturing the hawk alive unless it comes to the ground nearby.
She follows along to the west uneasily.
