I should mention that the ground here slopes downhill significantly at the cave mouth, into the darkness of the cave. Then the murky pool fills the path. Faloniir can see, and then so can Fro with the aid of a torch, that the murky pool extends for about 20 feet, after which there is dry ground again. You can also spot a very long, thick wooden beam lying against the wall at the far end of the pool. Beyond that, the cave forks into two passages.
All is still, save for the incessant drip-dripping. Fro's voice echoes away into the silence. But then you can hear, occasionally, sporadically, loud croaking noises echoing back out at you from the depths of the cave.
Faloniir will say, "I get why they call it croaker cave. Any ideas how to get across? I could try tying a piece of rope to an arrow and trying to hit that wooden beam. Maybe then pull it to us?"
He'd be willing to try it if there's a chance for success.
The target does not have much profile, but is also not too far away (about 25 feet) and completely still, in a noncombat situation. I'll give it an AC of 8.
"Wow, nice shot." Fro will help (or take over) pulling the beam to them. Once she has it, she will lay it across the pond of water. "I will cross first, keep an eye out with your bow."
On the other side of where they are trying to cross, there is a strange 2,9 figure. It looks like… a deep gnome? Yes, a deep gnome hiding in the rocks, wearing leather armour and holding a longbow. He isn’t aiming, just standing there. He looks very old, and quite wise. What is he doing there? Nobody really knows. He’s just there.
Faloniir notices a figure standing on the other side of the pool, "Fro, we have company!" He draws his bow and aims it at the newcomer as he calls out, "We're here on behalf of Tulgi and Raegrin. We're trying to find a cure for the sickness that has affected them and many more. We would rather this not end in violence." Faloniir watches the gnome for any signs of hostility as he thinks, Where did they come from? I swear there were only rocks there before...
As Fro gets across the pond, she pulls her Greataxe from her back. "If you mean no harm, why are you hiding in the shadows and not answering when we hail you? Are you part of Hulil's group of thieves?"
”I am hiding from the infected. You see, my village got infected by the disease you speak of. All except me. I had to run away from them. I assure you, I am no criminal. Before this plague, I was a hero, saving the town from monster after monster.”
Cyro approaches Fro using his longbow as his walking stick. ”Who are you two, and what are you doing in this cave? This is no place to find a cure from my standpoint. But this is where you’ll find my new home. I was just strolling near the surface.” When Cyro states what he does about his new home, he points to a small hole within the cave, just good size to be a house for a gnome.
Yes, Faloniir’s trick worked like a charm, and you were able to cross on the heavy beam without difficulty. The murky water below you ripples from the ongoing dripping but otherwise remains still. Now at the far end of the cave there are two ongoing passages in a Y-fork, one leading slightly to your left and one slightly to your right.
Faloniir will cross the plank and approach the strange gnome, "Hello Cyro, I am Faloniir. Have you seen anyone else in here? We were told there may be some folks here that are sick and need help."
Cyro attempts to pat Faloniir on the shoulder with his longbow before answering. “From what I have seen, I do remember a glimpse of a person down below. I forgot which way though. Perhaps I can aid you in your travels, as my wisdom is immense.”

Seems doable.

Faloniir ties one end of his rope to an arrow near the head and nocks it. He draws and pauses a moment before letting the arrow fly.
Longbow: 29
(It's an automatic hit thanks to his +9 but he never misses a chance to show off his archery skills I guess)
Nice shot, the arrow is buried quite securely into the nearer end of the long wooden beam.
Faloniir can't help but give a self-satisfied smirk and then starts pulling the beam across.
"Wow, nice shot." Fro will help (or take over) pulling the beam to them. Once she has it, she will lay it across the pond of water. "I will cross first, keep an eye out with your bow."
Fro will try to cross the beam. Acrobatics:16
I’ve heard that the DM is missing a third player who posts consistently. I’d be happy to join, but I’m sorry if I interrupt what is going on so far.
I’ll roll stats: 14
Wait I forgot I can just do thisAbility scores: 13 16 14 16 12 10
Whoa that’s awesome stats!

”Be not afraid, adventurers. I am Cyro (pronounced Sigh-ro) Genics, a humble gnome. I mean no harm.” Cyro says with an elderly, shaky voice.
As Fro gets across the pond, she pulls her Greataxe from her back. "If you mean no harm, why are you hiding in the shadows and not answering when we hail you? Are you part of Hulil's group of thieves?"
