Panwan looks towards Lethandaar and sighs. "The short version is that we are tasked with entering the lair of an unknown undead creature and using,"he pulls out a vial of a strange white liquid, shows it to Lethandaar without letting him touch it, before putting it away again."this magical artifact of the Order, purify the pool within the lair so it will cleanse the area of undead for over 50 miles. At least that's what the Commander had told me. Whether it will happen or not is another story but it is not mine to question the Commander. He tells me what to do and I do it.
Before going back to rest, Panwan looks over at Yellow and gives her a nod. "I'm proud of you Chevall. Keep it up."
Lethandaar asks hoping the answer is the former versus the latter.
"Nay. This was simply a little side trip to find the said Vial, which Panwan is guarding closely. Getting to snuff the life force out of this vile necromancer was just icing on the cake, as they say."
Kvothe looks at the runes on the chest that Drita has pointed out grunts and says “I’m not opening this thing! It’s all yours Ezio”. He then moves at least 30 feet back to where Ezio is standing.
Ezio examines the runes on the chest but are unable to place them. He informs the other's then says, "If it is a warding spell, it may be triggered by touch. Please stand back, I will try something after I identify these items of Lethandaar's." Casting two rituals, he identifies the items a magically enhanced dagger (Dagger+1) and very valuable ivory flute worth approximately 1000GP. He informs Lethandaar as he hands the items back before returning to the chest. He then positions the necromancer's body so that it is laying on one side within arm's reach of the chest. Once he and the other's are 30ft or more away from the body, he casts a spell that manifests a spectral hand. Using that hand, he picks up the necromancer's free arm at the wrist and drops the dead man's hand onto the chest so that it comes in contact with the magical runes.
Here's a pre-post assuming Lethandaar doesn't explode. If he does, I'll edit this.
Ezio, expecting a large conflagration, was pleasantly surprised by the relatively muted light show. "Drita, you seem to have some knowledge of the arcane, care to help determine--" He's cut off as Lethandaar walks by and starts banging on the chest. When the man doesn't explode, Ezio walks up and looks at the chest. "Well, it seems the chest is now safe to touch. Not the way I would tested that hypothesis, but it's just as well all the same. I've been working on a spell that can open magical and non-magical locks. If someone wants to carry that chest with us, I should be able to open it by the time we complete our quest and return to Camp Vengeance."
Kvothe goes over to the chest and says to Lethander “have you quite finished sonny jim”. He looks over at Ezio and says “you reckon this is safe - you know I’m going to haunt you for the rest of your life if anything happens to me”.
He pulls out his Thieves Tools from his belt pouch and attempts to pick the lock.
As Kvothe opens the chest he notices for a brief second, runes carved on the inside of the lid. There is a brief flash that everyone sees but Kvothe springs back in alarm as he sees a hand crossbow pointing directly at his eye go off." Watch out" he yells as he dives to one side attempting to miss the crossbow bolt.
He grabs his head and screams in horrible pain before going unconscious. (36 psychic damage)
After Kvothe falls back, Ezio curses, "You, cleric, heal him! There must have been another ward inside the chest." He says to Lethandaar as he grabs the man and points him towards the unconscious tiefling.

Kvothe says to Ezio “do you recognise any of these runes, Drita hasn’t seen them before”.

Is this the lair or are you still looking for it?
Lethandaar asks hoping the answer is the former versus the latter.
Ah alright then.
So Ezio, what do you make of this flute and dagger?

Oh wow! Tyr has looked upon me with great fortune! Thank you Tyr for I will not let it go to waste!
As the Necromancers hand touch the runes they flare a dark purplish color for a brief second before going out.

Guys I know I hardly know you but I am willing to make a sacrifice attempting to smash it open. I have faith my god looks favorably upon me.
I'll use guidance on myself and attempt to smash open the chest

Why don’t we try and pick the lock first? Or let me check the necromancer’s pocket for a key...

Right now we are in combat. Kvothe went first and is now dying and needs to make death saves. He started the combat so everyone can do one action
