Background: Sage (could use Haunted One instead if preferred)
Brief Public Backstory:
The rule of Strahd was all Harkus had known his whole life. Keep your head down, his parents told him, just get by in life, and you'll get to keep your life. Harkus did just that, until he met the beautiful Sibilla, who saw past his awkwardness to the heart beneath. They were due to be married, but on the eve of their wedding Strahd took Sibilla away, right in front of Harkus' eyes. Heartbroken, for he knew that whether she was drained of all life or turned into one of Strahd's mindless slaves he would never see her alive again, Harkus dedicated the rest of his life to acquiring any knowledge he felt would help him against Strahd - the history of the von Zarovich family, lore about vampires, anything. He would assist those adventurers from distant lands as discreetly as possible, hoping they would be able to slay Strahd, but all failed. Now in his late 60s, he discovered a book on the body of one of the latest group of adventurers to pit themselves against the vampire. Reading it, he was transported to a dark, Far Realm of cold and terror. He was returned barely an hour later, though it had felt like years, his hair already greying now bleached white in fear. He carried a look now of one who had seen too much, a mad look in his eye, as he occasionally muttered and whimpered to himself. He was shunned now in town - his strange behaviour would surely draw the attention of Strahd, people said, better to steer clear. Maybe now it was time to adventure himself, to truly fight against Strahd. After all, what had he left to lose, when it felt as though even his soul was no longer his own.
What did you roll on the Trinket chart (assuming you want a trinket)?: A small, weightless stone block, but I would love a Barovian trinket instead if picked.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Name: Emma Ry Race: V. Human Class: Barbarian (Beast) Alignment: Neutral Good Background: Guild Artisan
Brief Public Backstory:
Emma Ry, a Human woman in her mid-twenties, has been working as an innkeeper for a few years already. The inn is owned by a guild, for whom Emma works. At first, she was merely a worker, but working hard for a few years paid off, and eventually, she was appointed as the innkeeper. A formality only, one could say, as there's no less work to do. Cooking, cleaning, attending to customers... It's not a life of luxury but it ain't too bad either.
Even for an innkeeper, work isn't the meaning of life. For Emma, the meaning of life was a guy named Norman. He was charming, funny, smart, thoughtful... the list goes on. The two had been courting for a while, until Norman eventually asked Emma's father for permission to take her hand, which was given to the happy couple. Such would be the dream of any girl, but unfortunately, the couple's shared future was plucked early. Norman was called into Castle Ravenloft for some matter. Like many others, he was never seen again.
At first, Emma was devastated. After a while, however, her sorrow turned into hatred towards the Count. Hatred so intense Emma would sometimes lose herself to it. Having lost her meaning in life, Emma finds a new one by vowing that she'll do her best to see that the Count will perish, by whatever means. She would lose her life, and her humanity if needed.
Rolling a 56 for a Barovian trinket. Ability scores: 141011111615.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
I made the same mistake... I only realized after I had a post with about a dozen sets of ability scores and the dreaded 'potentially manipulated dice rolls' tag. It was annoying to say the least.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

Sorry about that, that sounds like it sucks.

Yeah, it did. Since I had no idea what the original score set was by the point I realized my mistake, I just deleted the post and edited the scores out of my character post and re-rolled one last time on a separate post. I hope that doesn't take me out of the running.

Brief Public Backstory: Nik's Dusk elf father fell in love with a Vistani woman, but of course, their union was forbidden, and thus conducted in secrecy. When it was apparent that she was with child, they escaped from the camp near Vallaki to the west, seeking refuge in Krezk. The villagers took pity on her and allowed her to stay despite their distaste for the Vistani. Nik's father travelled to Ravenloft to ask that his son might receive the boon of the Vistani and be allowed to leave Barovia, but he never returned or was heard from again. Heartbroken, his mother never regained her full strength, and was dead before Nik had reached the age of twelve. He managed to survive with petty theft and manual labor, but he began to be consumed with thoughts of revenge on the Baron and all that had been taken from him by Strahd. Wandering the wilderness, desperate and alone, the spirit of Argynvost appeared to him as a servant of Bahamut, and offered to grant him power in exchange for a covenant to do all in his power to overthrow the tyrant. Nikolai accepted the pact and now lives to dispel the darkness overshadowing Barovia.

"I'ze hate the Count, Von whosits. He made our life miserable. Threw garbage on us." To say he was mistreated by the Count is an understatement. But he knows his way around.
Hi. I'd DMd with questions about race and ability scores. Backstory (etc.) depends on that. Can we arrange ability scores as wanted?
Nobody has been selected yet do all the room is still open. Submit an idea if you wish.
