Seeing yet another squid join the fray, and with so many of the crew huddled by the mast instead of fighting for their lives, Ethlehyn cannot help but feel wrath well up within her. Channeling this contempt, she climbs up toward the bow where the squid is crushing the ballista. Arcane energy surges within her. For a moment, she seems darker than the night sky and her voice seems louder than it should. Her words, though beyond the ken of such a simple creature, nonetheless reach the squid's primitive mind. "Ego sum, et mortem pro te, refugit in terrore!" she cries out, standing before the monstrosity yet trying to overpower it with fear.
The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw DC 15 or become frightened of Ethel until the spell ends. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

The giant squid, making a mess of the ballista on the bow, shudders. It doesn’t understand what’s happening but it suddenly feels a great unease and wants nothing to do with the small humanoid on the deck below.
Before it can contemplate what to do though, Jan’s crossbow bolt speeds across the ship striking the creature square in one of it’s large eyes.
Tentacles go limp and the giant squid slips off the bow of the ship, taking part of the ballista with it.
The port side giant squid (there still two left though they both look to be in rough shape) twitches slightly at Marrin’s invective. Whether by the magic interlaced with the words or the struggle to understand these alien creatures on the ship, the giant squid appears slightly depressed now.
Ula catches the squid tentacle square on with her hammer. The skin bursts open, spraying the cowering passengers by the midmast with squid innards, resulting in one scream, an indignant "I never" and the sound of wretching. Ula doesn't notice as she's paying more attention to the giant squid. The rest of the body appears to go limp and it slips back into the sea.
The one remaining squid thrashes about wildly. One tentacle sweeps across the three crew members who've been trying to push it off the ship with the mooring poles. Two of the poles crack and Slick and Tammer are tossed onto the deck. They don't appear to be injured badly but they have been knocked down.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the tentacle swings around wildly, it smacks into the side of Avaria. She spins around to it and growls at it as she continues her rage... luckily or she'd be down for the count. In the midst of the spin, she pulls her axe back to retaliate against the tentacle, hoping to bring it down on the creature.
Attack: 17 Damage: 12
As she gets closer to unconsciousness, her body reacts and transforms into more of her wolf like nature... the fur, claws, tail and teeth change again in front of her friends eyes, as well as the others on deck.
Hammerdasher channels all his strength and emulates Ula completely, his blow causing another shower of squid innards to rain down on the other passengers. As the squid is slipping over the edge of the ship, Godrick Hargroves icy blast catches the creature square on, removing any doubt about what the hammer blow accomplished.
Carnavon, not finding the squid to be where he thought it would be nearly hits Hammerdasher instead, but narrowly misses and rings the pole against the forward mast.
Bigge manages to temporarily stabilize the cook as the giant squid falls into the water with a large splash.
Slick and Tammer cheer as they drag themselves up off the deck and then immediately proceed to make fun of Carnavon and his lack of ability with the pole.
Before they can celebrate too much, the captain shouts orders at them to get the sails back in check and retie some guidelines the squid has knocked loose.
Unfortunately it looks like anything large enough to have had a crossbow bolt stick into it has sunk back into the sea. The squid bits left on board are of the very slimy crushed trunk artery type.
Avaria heads to the mast, something to lean her back against and slunks down to the sit on the deck, bloodied axe laying across her lap. As she slows down her breathing, she also slowly reverts back to her more human shape. She looks around and makes sure that all her new friends are accounted for, and haven't fallen off the ship.
Then continues to sit there, taking stock of all her bruises and cuts, feeling a bit more weak after that fight.
((Although we perhaps know it’s unnecessary…)) …As soon as the squids are no more, Ula turns to assist Bigge with the chef. She immediately casts spare the dying and helps to patch their wounds, and clean them up, and (if appropriate) bring them round…
Jan shifts her aim to her original foe.
Attack: 21 Damage: 16 (on hit, does piercing, necrotic and bludgeoning)

Giant Squid Save 13
The giant squid, making a mess of the ballista on the bow, shudders. It doesn’t understand what’s happening but it suddenly feels a great unease and wants nothing to do with the small humanoid on the deck below.
Before it can contemplate what to do though, Jan’s crossbow bolt speeds across the ship striking the creature square in one of it’s large eyes.
Tentacles go limp and the giant squid slips off the bow of the ship, taking part of the ballista with it.
Ula and Marrin are up.
Marrin, from her safe spot, shouts at the remaining squid,
"Last one left, whose hungry for calamari?"
Vicious threatening: 4 (3)
(DC 14 wisdom, on save nothing.)
((Edit, had to fix a stupid typo))
Squid save: 20
The port side giant squid (there still two left though they both look to be in rough shape) twitches slightly at Marrin’s invective. Whether by the magic interlaced with the words or the struggle to understand these alien creatures on the ship, the giant squid appears slightly depressed now.
Ula’s up.
Ula is still wrangling with one of the squids whipping around the deck. She tries to bash it again with her hammer…

((Oh, and the squid that's a snack to be gets disadvantage on its next attack.))

Two of the poles crack and Slick and Tammer are tossed onto the deck. They don't appear to be injured badly but they have been knocked down.
Another tentacle smashes wildly around the deck.

As the tentacle swings about, it comes dangerously close to Avaria.

Attack: 17 Damage: 12
As she gets closer to unconsciousness, her body reacts and transforms into more of her wolf like nature... the fur, claws, tail and teeth change again in front of her friends eyes, as well as the others on deck.
This grants her 4 temporary hit points.
Avaria doesn't miss by much, but the wriggling tentacle still proves too elusive.
Hammerdasher, taking inspiration from Ula's blow that dislodged one of the squid, slams his hammer down at the remaining squid.
Attack: 7 Damage: 8
Godrick once again lets a cold blue ray race from his hands towards the last squid.
Attack: 16 Damage: 3
Bigge ignores everything going on around him and continues to work on the cook.

Carnavon, the dragonborn crew member, with only a mooring pole in his hand, takes a swing at the squid.
Attack: 21 Damage: 2
With only one squid clinging to the ship, the captain and first mate are able to keep the ship running from the storm.
Hammerdasher channels all his strength and emulates Ula completely, his blow causing another shower of squid innards to rain down on the other passengers. Out of initiative.
Jan looks around for any squid bits that might have a salvageable bolt stuck in them as she takes stock of her supply.
((Think she used 4?))
