Sam makes it to the cave mouth, panting heavily. Turning round, he sees Graham throw himself over the threshold with a final spurt of speed. Struggling to regain your breath and pretending you can't smell Dan's fart, you see the birds barreling towards you, screaming bloody murder, but as they approach the cave mouth, they careen away, scared by whatever lies deeper within. A cold wind blows through you, coming from a passage that leads deep into the earth.

Graham catches his breath, looking back towards the cave opening, "Well that was close." As he collects himself he looks forward, deeper into the cave, before a realization hits him. "Wait, I think I saw something that can help in the book..." He opens up the book he was given, scanning through its pages, "Ah yes, here it is." While holding the book with one hand, keeping it opened to a specific page, he recites several words and make gestures with his free hand.  As he does so, four orbs of light begin to come into being around Graham, making a box slightly above his head. Once done, he looks up at the orbs with a smile on his face. "It worked..."

Sheriff Sam looks in wonder at the light show, and sees if he can figure what Graham used to create the lights.

Whatever he figures out he grabs his flash light  and turns it on as well.  He will holster his gun and use that flash light  to check out the tunnel.

The passage is rocky and iced over, leading straight into the bowels of the earth. It curves after about fifty metres and you can't see what lies at its end

"Wow, those are some trantalizing lights, Graham." Dr. Dan looks impressed, getting his face up as close as possible so that his eyes cross. He shrugs and waits for his companions to lead the way. "I've never seen nrothin' like it."

Dan can see the source of the magic. It's hidden in the centre of the orbs, hard to see unless you know what to look for. Is that..... his father?

Graham rubs his gloved hands together for a bit of warmth now that the adrenaline from the sprint here is wearing off. "So, shall we proceed further in?"

Sam takes the leads and heads down towards the bend. 

Eventually they come to an icy doorway set into the passage. What lies beyond, you're not sure but the path has met its end

Dan breaks out of a thousand yard stare and notices that his companions have made further progress into the cave. "I'm not a'holdin' this train back, guys. Here I come!"

Graham will study the door for ways to open it, any noticeable hinges, symbols, anything of importance.

Investigation: 20

With that dirty 20, Graham registers that it's the door from his dream, and also that it doesn't seem to be locked, but as is so often the case in winter, it may have swollen in the doorframe and got a bit stuck. Should open with a big push.

Graham looks to the others "I have a strong feeling that this is the way we should go, if we all work together we should be able to push it open."

"Alright, let me try to force this open"  Sam leans up to the door and gives it a try.

With the two of you pushing, the door swings open. Inside is a moose painting watercolours of the cave wall

From the open doorway Graham will call in "Um hello there?"
