"Aye. Seems these be no mere bandits we be dealin' with. A more subtle approach be called for. Perhaps we should wait for the night and set the fort ablaze with arrows and flank any pursuers? Or we could come in at dark via the river... Also be possible to pose as a caravan passin' through the nearby road. Either way, attackin' directly in broad daylight seems ill-advised."
"Bandits are scum, and should be treated as such." Arynn says. "However, I see what you are saying Alan. However, if bandits wanted to parley their stance will most likely be 'your money or your life'. I suggest taking them down, possibly under cover of night with some stealth, but we're not here to kill. If we can defeat them and bring them back to have the justice of the land brought upon them, then we are doing the land a service and not being kinslayers."
"I would agree with a strategy at night. Taking anything during the day could pose a great threat to us. As for approaching in a caravan, I get the feeling they could see right through that guise. I say we wait it out, watch them some more, get an idea for patrols, and then sneak in with the cover of darkness to capture whoever is in charge." says Teller.

"A combination of these plans could be best. We watch and wait until nightfall and then set the wooden fortress ablaze. We could then capture the fleeing bandits and it would destroy this base so it can't be used by future miscreants for the same purpose."
"They have a boat though. We might need to get rid of it too if we don't want them escaping down the river. Maybe if I can get over the river I can get a peek at the inside of the place." Avery will look down the river for some safe place to cross, anything she can she from her position?
OCC: We are standing by the same river that is next to the bandit camp, right? How fast is the river moving?
The river is a very large river with fairly fast moving water, you could swim if you needed to but it would be strenuous work. It is big enough ships can traverse the river fairly safely.

"I am somewhat versed in fire. I can get at least a portion of the compound ablaze but I cannot set it all alight. If we get enough of it to catch the rest will follow."
"That seems like a waste of a good fort. How about I go up there and pretend to join them? I could get a look at the inside and maybe convince them to surrender. I can be pretty persuasive." Alan said, puffing up his chest.

Nightfall, sabotage the boat, work on narrowing their escapes, and take 'em out." Arynn intends to keep a watch on their the bandit's watch patterns, used to hunting urban groups who would do similar things.

"Oh, I know people can be bad. It's just different, taking a person's life. A beast? No problem. But a person? I'm a hunter, not an assassin." Alan said. He was seated on the ground with his back leaned up against a tree and had fished out some of the breakfast that he'd stashed away to snack on.

"Frankly, I fail to see the difference. Beasts have feelings just the same. People can kill relentlessly as any beast can. People simply learned to populate. And, obviously, are much more interesting to write about." Teller says, with his arms crossed. A simple, matter of fact, expression across his face.

“The difference is that beast typically kill for food or protection, people are the ones who kill for any reason they want; money, food, jealousy, or just because they think it’s fun. Except cats. Cats are jerks.” There’s a pause.
“I mean not you Teller, but like house and street cats. I’ve seen a lot them of torture mice before they kill em and then leave the bodies laying around. It’s gross. But, I guess that’s besides the point. Are we waiting for night fall?”

Are there any doors or windows that Avery can see?
There are no windows. Think frontier fort with log walls. Only door is the main gate on the side opposite the river.

Avery will head back to the group and tell them what she's seen.
"This does don't sound like an easily cleared bandits. I do no like the level of work this place has required for mere bandits."
