Nim lets everyone say their farewells and set things in order, but before anyone moves on to do anyone else he gathers Everyone together in the throne room.
”wonderful! Now we’re all together I think we have a few things we need to get done. We have this exiting new room to discover the secrets of and also the corridor of the large room barricaded up still hides more of this place we have left undiscovered. I believe before we carry on we should do a thorough search of the rooms we’ve uncovered as well as the bodies of the slain for any potential information regarding this place and what it contains as we failed to ask them ourselves before we killed them. I myself will search the kitchen and the body of Akhil, I suggest you each pick a room and a body.
Once we’re done we should have a quick rest to recoup our strength and share and new finds. I myself still feel quite alert so will keep a watch for us should anyone attempt to jump us in our resting state.
After that we should take any new information we’ve found and vote on wether to explore the rest of these caves OR this new hidden room behind the throne. I myself vote for the hidden room.”
(OOC: For searching the kitchen and Akhil’s body Perception/Investigation rolls are 6/20)
Hahahaha! A good plan Nim! But let's go pull those levers now and make sure it's not just an empty room on the other side. Clas exclaims. If it's more than a vault, then a rest is indeed in order! Preferably back in town at a Tavern! Hahahaha! Clas raises an eyebrow at Nimblestep. He turns, picks up a candle. I and Tarysaa have searched all the bodies and rooms. Did you find anything on the half-orc other than keys, Nim? Clas then walks into the tunnel and goes to start pulling levers. He shouts back from the tunnel. Unless one of us knows how to tell if there' a trap! We'll just have to take a chance! Hahahaha! Clas starts pulling levers inside the tunnel finding out what each of them does.

Never underestimate the power of a finely crafted barrel, my friend! It is both a vessel of strength and a symbol of resilience.
Tarysaa starts to warn Clas about pulling levers but the big lug had already pulled the first that closed the door BACK into the throne room. Sighing she moved and pulled the lever that SHOULD open whatever is waiting at the dead end of the corridor.
[ OOC: I suspect this is almost a case of... the 2nd door will not open until the 1st is closed... protecting the secrecy of the situation. ]
Nim, excited by the new discoveries, tries to continue his story of mastery of C-activity... After the Confiscation (of gems) he tries the Command and elaborates a detailed strategy of action.
However, Clas laughs it off and prefers to try first to maneuver the levers found by Tarysaa at random, to quickly ascertain how they work.
Seeing him arrive, Tarysaa starts to open her mouth and explain... something to him, but before she can, the impetuous warrior has already pulled the first lever. Whereupon, the section of wall that she had rotated on itself does it again, in reverse, closing off the secret passage (with the two inside).
When Clas pulls the second lever, a different section of wall rotates on itself... revealing a new passage! The 'secret' corridor now forms a T-junction with another one, twice as wide (10').
Sticking out his head and torch, Clas notices that the new corridor, to the east, ends abruptly after about 40', while to the west it leads to a large spiral staircase that leads below...
rong and you won't be in any danger. But experience has taught me that things rarely go like this, for us Devilspawn. Who knows? Maybe, if one day you will become a famous and celebrated heroine, people will begin to look at us with less suspicion... Who knows, if you will become to us what Drizzt was to the drow?"
She then she turns, she walks towards the exit, in solitude... true to her name.
Ardana turns and escorts Solitaire to the exit, and gives a short bow "Farewell, brave soul."
Once Solitaire is gone, she turns to Daisy: "Can we bury the rest of this lot with the first, before we continue our search? I want to thank you for your help earlier, I appreciate your aid."
Before Ardana picks up the bodies, she makes sure there are no papers, insignias, or other unusual items that might provide clues. Then, carries each body in turn and drops them down the hole where the first casualties were buried.
Tarysaa grabs Clas' tunic and pulls him to a halt. "We are getting into uncharted territory here. We need the entire party to understand what is happening AND the potential risks involved. Go gather everyone and bring them here, please."
(( Once everyone arrives, Tarysaa will recount what she has been able to piece together and the connection to the Harpells. ))
s no time dividing the treasure amongst the group. 250 copper, 150 silver and 6 gold for each of us, he says, handing bags of coins to each of his companions.
Ardana opens her alms box and puts a tithe into the box, and the rest of the bag into her backpack.
Nim seems a bit befuddled as to why Clas would completely shrug off his suggestions so he decides to just go and investigate for clues unsuccessfully. He then remembers the parchment paper he stuffed into his satchel and decides to check them for writings.
when he’s done he returns to the throne room and joins Clas.
Well, no problem: you easily discover that the first lever, if lifted again, reopens the secret passage that communicates with the throne room - then the rest of the group, unless someone objects, following the exuberant guidance of Clas , reaches Tarysaa... who then explains...
(OOC: Go on Tarysaa, tell what you found out! Don't keep them hanging. I can't tell it in her place... Tarysaa has to tell the party in her own words!)
Daisy gives Solitude another hug when she departs, thanking the tiefling again for giving her some hope in finding her husband.
The dwarf does her best in aiding Ardana in carrying the bodies to the hole and then uses her magic to easily create a mass grave for the slain Zhentarim. On her way to rejoin the others in the throne room, she stops in the kitchen to look for something that could offer Barakor as a quick meal.
"I guess the others have run off to stick their nose into more trouble. We should get a move on."she says to Ardana.
Tarysaa straighens and tries to imitate her best 'college professor giving a lecture' voice.
"As you are probably aware, Longsaddle is known for being the domain of the Harpells. A family with a LONG history in this area -- we are talking several hundreds of years. And that same long history is of their harnessing magic in establishing and maintaining some semblence of peace in the surrounding lands. Keep that in mind.
At first, I thought we might have stumbled upon what I had mentioned before about what I overhead from tavern drunkards rambling on about the 'legends' of the Starmetal Hills and how 'somewhere' there was a grave of an ancient dwarf with rich golden armour and treasures. How this ancient dwarf was a prince of Gauntlgrym -- who fell in battle with ogres that dwelled in those hills. I really was hoping to closely examine that marble arch for further clues.
When we discovered that 'odd wall' upon entering the den, I noted the stonework and asked Daisy to confirm if it was ancient dwarven work. She could not confirm my theory. However, it's appearance as looking 'different' ... it implied something other than 'standard' or even 'unique' humanoid construction."
She now goes into her normal voice but seems to take on a much more serious tone.
"I hope you all noticed that throne that the half-orc was using as a chair. You may have even spent a moment looking at the images on it. It is quite an elegant and imposing throne. And on the upper portion of that fancy seat is a bit of heraldry -- two wolves facing each other on opposite sides of a horse with particularly elongated legs.
I had to remember my studies into magical families and Northern histories before I remembered. Specifically the Harpell family & history. And even more specifically, the entries concerning Kylth Harpell.
Kylth Harpell. A human who had conducted studies to increase his powers by taking them away from extraplanar creatures. He had conducted most of his studies at Longsaddle (not unusual for a Harpell).
And the time... 1250 DR, approximately. 250 years ago. Considering how time-worn the marble arch has been, the era could roughly match."
She takes a long breath and sighs.
"This place has a good chance of having been a laboratory (or a study place, or a... complex of some kind), built by Kylth for his studies! I SUSPECT that spiral staircase DOWNWARD will confirm my conclusions.
That said, I did not wish to drag you all into new dangers without you knowing the facts. Or the potential dangers. OR, the potential rewards... beyond the item for Martha. Finding and reporting this location to the Harpells will likely gain us some 'reward'.. be it gratitude for flushing out a Zhentarium nest or finding some of their family history.
She looks over at Clas and Ilwythe, "Perhaps even a few rounds of ale in appreciation."
"All that said, we need to TRY to NOT disturb any objects as much as possible. Once we get down there, I will use my Detect Magic ritual and hope we can EASILY find this treasure. I do NOT wish to trigger some extraplanar death trap that might also spread into the countryside."
All Nim seems to take away from Tarysaa’s monologue is that this adventure could inspire a song to inspire generations and rewards suitable for such heroism. His eyes gleam as he daydreams about singing the songs in taverns and royal halls across the country. His little feet set him in motion towards the spiral staircase heedless to potential dangers that may await him.

Clas turns to the rest of the party, his voice full. "Do any of you wish to rest before we press on?" he asks, knowing the importance of keeping the group refreshed and ready for the challenges ahead.
For Daisy
Clas finds a moment to pull Daisy aside privately. "Daisy," he begins, lowering his voice, "I heard the Tiefling mentioning something to you about catching 'them' with a good horse." His brow furrows with curiosity, and he leans in closer, eager to understand the significance of the Tiefling's words and how it may affect their current quest.
"I've got a riding horse. If we left our gear behind, it might carry both of us, with your wolf running alongside, perhaps!" His mind buzzing with ideas, Clas continues, "And you know what? We might have enough coin to purchase more horses for the party. Two more should be enough, with two horses doubled up with riders." Clas's voice brims with excitement as he shares his plan, eager to find a solution. I believe we can always come back to this Harpell lair.
Hahahaha! Clas grabs Nim by the collar as the halfling attempts to walk past him and doesn't let go. Hahahaha!
Ilwythe will glower sullenly
