This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hello.
I am inviting 4 players to play, with me as a DM. I started my adventure with D&D as a DM and are currently running one campaing on-line with my brothers (once a week currently) . That is not enough for me so i want to try doing a pbp campaign. My timezone is GMT +2. I work shifts, so sometimes i am active after 2pm to 6pm (gmt +2) and sometimes from 5pm to 10 pm (gmt+2). English is NOT my native language - Grammar nazis are very welcome to correct me with a post scriptum note on their posts :).
Before applying please check if our time frames are somewhat compatible.
I won't be able to share my bought content with you since i am not a subscribed account (don't dm enough to feel it is needed) but i am all for players with nothing bought on the account and looking to play. New players are welcome as well. (I am a new dm myself) If anything will be missing i will homebrew it and i believe it can be shared that way.
I want to run the campaign on the forums here. Will add players to a Campaign on DnDBeyond. Dice rolls can be rolled in character sheet and pasted from GameLog (i will be doublechecking) or generated on forums (Stats for characters will be generated on forums). Initiative rolls will probably be rolled by me for the monsters and the players (via character sheets) in one post to save time. For the same reasons feel free to roll in advance anything that might be useful like damage in the same post as hit or Perception roll when you think it my apply to what your character tries to attempt. I will either use or discard such roll.
I am looking more for role players than battle simulator enthusiasts. That being said - fighting is my favorite element of D&D but i like it to be more descriptive than just numbers on dices. Keeping that in mind please delve in to your characters flaws and ideas and such characteristics (not necessary while applying, but before we start playing i would like you to have it fleshed out). More on that aspect i would like players to be able to differentiate themselves from characters and do their best to act as character even if that is not an optimal play from a player perspective. If you know something as a player bot not as a character you should not act on that knowledge, on the other hand i don't mind if you do lead your character to that knowledge so you could act on it. I want you to do what you like in our game, but i would like you to make it plausible for a character.
I try to be a just judge of the system. I try to serve only the narrative not any side of the story. I do accept death of characters so keep that in mind. We then work together to introduce new character. If you have any ideas that you are not sure of how i would act on them feel free to send private message. I like the rules but i other than that i am chill person and you can talk to me about anything regarding our game.
The Campaign is
My feel for D&D is pretty Vanilla so here are some important things:
There might be content that is brutal or gore and my or yours descriptions might include such language as well as swearing and such (only between characters)
There will be not sex content - for authenticity your characters might end up having spouses or one-time partners, but it will be mentioned only as something like they had spent the night together.
Stats for characters are rolled (no re rolling ones)
Races available are those from Player's Handbook / Basic Rules.
Classes are all available excluding Artificer and Blood Hunter .
Health will be rolled as well as stats so mark that in character sheet. (no re rolling ones)
Multi class is ok upon meeting prerequisites and makes sense story wise - if not sure consult.
Custom backgrounds are allowed (within restrictions of the rules - as per dnd builder)
Encumbrance should be on along with the weight of coins, also plan your equipment realistic. Imagine it on your character. Can he find space for that item on his person/ in his backpack. I won't be pecking on every little item but please keep that in mind.
Rules for changing weapons apply as written. You can either stow or draw one weapon per turn.
Characters will start in Phandalin - mining settlement.
While applying you can make your background a little vague. I want to see your idea but when I pick players i would like for their characters to have something in common, so either i will make some changes to the backgrounds with players agreement or players will come up with something themselves, such as some could be relatives, or we can even end up creating some other characters to match the idea of party. Please keep that in mind. You can of course make a full and complete character with broad backstory if you like, just have in mind that it might change.
What i try to say here is i will be choosing players by looking at their characters. I would really like to not meddle with someone's character or make him do something else that he wants to play - those changes might only occur with agreement between us when we form a party to play.
I hope I introduced myself and my thinking well for you to have some idea if you want me as a DM, so please apply only if you feel ok with this.
When applying please do it like this:
Stats rolled: Ability scores: 11148161115
Brief concept of character, some backstory, your ideas about character.

Hi there ! I'd be glad to join your adventure ! Really enjoy the way you presented what you expected, I like that type of DM'ing :D
I'd like to play a Dragonborn Paladin. I have been eager to play that class for a while now!
Name: Goraseth Drerjoxian Class: Paladin Background: Gladiator Concept: A character that slowly build on his faith and become the champion of a dragon deity (could be another dragon, not necessarily Bahamut). He feels invested by a higher purpose but unfortunately does not know exactly what is his destiny. He likes to makes a show when he fights and comes from a different region of the world (Chult Island). He has a good heart and honor is the most important thing for him. Backstory: Goraseth have been working for ten years as a gladiator in the Arena of Port Nyanzaru. Famous for his mastery of the yklwa, he was starting to be quite popular. He was also a pious dragonborn and always thanked Bahamut for his good life. Since a month, every five nights, he had a strange sequence of apocalyptic dreams. The world is destroyed by cold, choking fumes, lightning storms, waves of acid, and horrible fire. Each time, the dream ends with evil eyes glaring at him from the darkness, but the last couple of times, before waking up, he heard a melodious crystalline voice reassuring him "You can help Goraseth. Your destiny starts in Phandelin". Last week, taking this as an omen from Bahamut, he decided to answer the call.It took him some time to find out where was this village but he finally obtained the information. He packed his bag and his yklwa and started his journey.

Tryncaryn often dreamed. You wouldn't think this unusual and you would be right. It isn't the fact that he dreams often, sometimes even during the day, but what he dreams about that makes him special. His dreams can be as short as a blink of an eye or as long as a whole night's sleep, but they always have something in common, they represent some very real event that is about to happen unless he finds some way to avoid the worst of it. It hasn't been long, though, that he remembers enough detail of his dreams to being able to impact the real events that he dreamed about. Most of the times, the memory of his dreams are fuzzy and it is mighty difficult for him to take advantage of his gift. Sure, his tutelage in a monastery of the Open Hand had helped much. Their meditation techniques allow him to better control and revisit dream episodes. He'd been told that additionally he should study the school of divination magic and that that would help him to better understand how to interpret his dreams, too, and they found a mentor that bought him a few basics. However, the most important lesson that he must learn, or so his tutors make him believe, is to see and feel the world. On their urge, he leaves the monastery on the next merchant caravan with the destination ...

Character name: Quinne Greenshrub
Race: Forest gnome
Class: Druid
Stats: Ability scores: 121014151814
Starting hp: 8/8
Background: Hermit
Story (short version): Quinne Greenshrub was a recluse, even by her kind's standards, but was always quite pleasant toward anyone who came across her. She lived deep in the woods, working a small garden and watching over the local wildlife with a genuine appreciation for all parts of the life cycle. She might have stayed that way forever had it not been for a traveling elven lady who stumbled upon Quinne's cottage and introduced her to the greater world. Quinne was loathe to leave her quaint but cozy home, until she noticed the critters acting very strangely, then feral beasts appeared and she knew it was time to flee and find out, hopefully, what had upset the balance of life.

Appearance : 5' 10", slightly podgy but good looking. Short, brushed back, hair that is mostly brown except on his right side which is silver-white. Light, fair, skin. Has heterochromia: his left eye is hazel-brown while his right eye is icy-blue. His eyebrows are black. He has a red birthmark from under his right eye down and across the upper-half of his cheek. Normal wear is basic common clothes, standard backpack, but does feature various rings: right hand has silver rings on pinky and thumb and a ring on his forefinger that features a blue stone which is an Arcane Focus. His left hand has silver rings on thumb and middle finger. A basic dagger is equipped to his belt. He has silver ring piercings in both ears: two upper ones to his left ear and a single one on his right ear lobe.
Unusual Traits: his eyebrows are different to his hair colour and he has two hair colours: brown and white. He is unsure how this came to be: his father has dark brown hair and his mother has red hair. He also has two eye colours: brown and blue and again he is unsure how. His father has dark brown - almost black - eyes and his mother has green eyes. He has a facial birthmark under his right-eye that is red with clean lines making it a highly unusual form of birthmark. It is not known what caused it.

Backstory :
Janan Clarke was the only son of a cobbler father and his mother was a maid to local noble. When he was 12 years old he found a few spells in an old book from a great-uncle who had died long before he was born. He tried these spells - small simple things - and eventually was able to cast them. He had a great interest in magic but the limited means of his family meant they could not afford a mentor in such things. He had no interest in his parents' professions and learned to read and write at the noble family's library - with their permission.
Over the years he grew close to the noble family's daughter, Violet, who was the same age as him. When they were only 15, they.. Well he got her pregnant. To cover up the scandal he was to be sent away : he agreed but only because the noble family were going to send him to be a wizard's apprentice. He was newly 16 when he got the letter that Violet had birthed a daughter who was to be named Lily.
The wizard, Gideon Levens, taught Janan all he knew - which wasn't much. Janan, now 24, was now eager to go travelling to learn more, earn coin he could eventually send back to his parents and gain enough prestige and renown that he could convince the nobles to let him see his daughter. Even if they never agree - he wants to make the world a better and safer place for her.
Allies :
Gideon Levens - Wizard, Former Mentor. Augustus Clarke - Cobbler, Father. Leanna Clarke née Collins - Maid, Mother. Violet Lynette Lionsbane - Noble, Former Girlfriend Lily Hannah Lionsbane - Daughter
Nigel Aurelius Lionsbane II - Noble, father of Violet, Grandfather of Lily. Banished Janan from ever seeing Violet or Lily again, but did pay for Janan's magical education and continues to employ Janan's mother.

starting hp will be max hit Dice (edited after consulting), hp after leveling up will be rolled as well, hp for monsters will be rolled by me as well.
Is there a reason for this house rule, if I may ask?

I like the way you have laid out the expectations of the campaign and would like to apply:
Ability scores: 111316121313
Name: Ulysse Fangdurin
Wood Elf Rogue
Ulysse essentially runs a food stand outside the mine. It's a bit of work but it's decent pay without working in the mine. He is crafty and doesn't like to get his hands dirty, likes to strike from afar and runs and hides from dangers that get to close. He got into a bit of trouble with his clan prior to coming to Phandalin which keeps him from returning.
Not really. You read me good to assume i would not give a house rule when everything else seems by the books. I thought rules do not say anything about hp being max hit Dice on first level. They do, do we get them like this. Max hit Dice on first level, rolling upon leveling. Will edit post above for potential future candidates, to not spook them.
Raised as the princess of the Evermeet Kingdom, Elrora has known only aristocracy and restrictions, being nothing more than a highly-expensive pawn in a political game. She has lived a very sheltered life, never truly allowed to experience the world beyond castle walls. But the Elven woman is spunky, and free-spirited, wanting to live beyond the crown she was born to wear. Elrora longs for adventure, and it is with that tug on her heartstrings that she's travelled from the mysterious Feywild to the mining town of Phandalin, to see if she can do more good with sword and shield and a presence among the people — rather than trapped in a faraway castle.
yes, the max dice at first level is actually quite important as in 5e first level can be quite tough (i.e one good roll from the DM and a mean gobelin can one-shot dead a wizard). Then in my experience with my players, rolling or taking the half is usually pretty much the same (so I'm cool with any rule)

Currently playing: DM - Dragon of Icespire Peak | Tytus Wolan - Warlock (Chronicles of the Accursed) | Biezdar Kamrazzan - Warrior (Icespire Peak)
Name: Elrora Bistanthelas
Race: High Elf
Class: Fighter
Background: Noble
Backstory:

Beginner DM & Barbarian
yes, the max dice at first level is actually quite important as in 5e first level can be quite tough (i.e one good roll from the DM and a mean gobelin can one-shot dead a wizard).
Then in my experience with my players, rolling or taking the half is usually pretty much the same (so I'm cool with any rule)
