Elila provides back up as always...and thinks "WTF is that?!"

(Elila will also hear the voice in her head)

"Hello.", Katerielle replies out loud so Elila can hear. She continues to look around.

In your minds, the creature replies, "I guard, as ordered.  Will you be using the Forge of Spells today?"

"Well, yes of course!" Elila responds.

Katerielle looks at Elila with concern. "Long has it been since the forge is said to have been used. What are you guarding the forge from and what are all your orders concerning it and those who come here?" She will ask, hoping they had not already freed the hand of such a dangerous looking guardian. She ponders what it could be.

Arcane 15

Katerielle is immediately reminded of a Beholder, but smaller with fewer eye stalks.  Stories tell such things exist, and are not quite as deadly as Beholders, but still similar.

The creature responds, "What do you mean?  The forge and those working here continue on as always.  Since you do not know, then you are not the masters.  Use the forge, but the contents of this room remain here.  I watch them and guard them and put an end to would be thieves.  As I was summoned to do."

oog: Are we all privy to the mini-beholder's part of the conversation or does the beholder only speak in the asker's head?  

Regardless, as the creature does not show any aggression, Leek will look around the room to see what is here (equipment, etc.)

Amid all the destruction from an ages old battle, there are two obviously magical items.  A mace with a head shaped like a sunburst made of solid brass and a breastplate with dragon motif worked into its design.

(And yes, although many haven't posted, if you 'catch up', then its understood you stuck together as a group the whole time.  The voice is heard by all.)

Ok.  I ask the mini-Beholder if he can teach us how to use the forge.  Ask him who is masters are.  

The creature replies to Leek, "The wizards of Wave Echo Cave summoned me to watch the forge and the items in it.  You are the first that wish to use the forge since I arrived.  Go ask the wizard masters how, I do not know."

(Someone with Arcana proficiency could roll to see if they could figure it out)

Katerielle will look over the forge to see if she understands it.

Arcane 22

The forge is the source of magic in these caverns, and you're pretty sure bathing any item in the flames will imbue it with magic.  However, based on the legend of Wave Echo Cave, you surmised that at one time, this flame was much more potent than it is now.  Any item bathed in the flames will take time to imbue enough magic and the effect will most likely be temporary.  Wave Echo Cave is no longer what it once was.

lWell, we can test it with the scimitar Leek never uses.  He will stick it in the flame to see what happens.

You get the impression it may take a while.  Up to an hour, maybe?

While the scimtar is cooking Katerielle will move to the door at Y12 and look it over for any symbols, wires, holes. Things that could be a trap.

Perception 18

Everything in this structure is old and scarred from some kind of explosion.  You find no evidence of traps.

Elila stands tries to watch the door and the creature at the same time.

The creature floats, apparently not aggressive, but watches intently.  Nothing happens while Leek continues to bathe his scimitar in the green flames.

Katerielle will try to open the door and see whats in the next room.
