Bran thanks Chadwick for his assistance. The chain mail is smelly, but fits well enough to be of use. Bran seems more at ease with a suit of armor on now.
Searching the patrol Chadwick finds coin purses on each, 6 scimitars, 6 short bows, 6 quivers full of arrows, the chain mail, 7 shields and a longsword. There is a total of 91cp, 58sp and 7gp found in the purses. Bran would like to use the longsword instead of the goblin scimitar he had given to Bronk. Bronk stuffs a quiver full of arrows and selects the best looking short bow and sets those aside. He places the scimitar given to him with those weapons.
When Chadwick brings up the possibility of another patrol, Bran asks Erbert to clarify that with Bronk. Bronk replies by pointing to his map holding up three fingers pointing at a tower, "Yip-whine." Then points to another tower and holds up three fingers again, "Yip-whine." He points to the area on the right with the tents holding up 1 finger, "Hobgoblin." Finally, he points around at the patrol, "Yip-whine....Hobgoblin." He holds up one finger. He points to them all again then one finger again, "Only."
Bran adds, "These are a group of brigands, not Luskanite Regulars. Discipline is not going to be good. There is probably a strong dependency upon leadership that holds the band together by force of will or personality. They are still very dangerous as a group, but that is a weakness found in these kinds of groups."
The evidence seems clear to me. At night the humans will be asleep leaving six goblins, three per tower, and a roaming hobgoblin to deal with. The towers are not within sight of each other after dark due to limited range of dark vision.
If a tower can be taken out with sleep while the hobgoblin is away from that tower, we could simultaneously range attack the hobgoblin, likely with advantage, to take it out in one round. If two sleep spells are available, we could move to the second tower before or after the hobgoblin. That would leave only sleeping humans in our way to rescue Cleggor.
Before starting this plan, of which Sun-Tsu would be proud, we should have Gneuman scout to confirm and hopefully determine pathing of the hobgoblin.
Given the height of the towers, the view therefrom might preclude visibility to the top of the box canyon wall from the western-most tower. This might allow movement around the camp with little chance of being seen if sleep is used on the eastern tower. And perhaps rappelling down for a rescue.
To a large extent, this plan relies on sleep. How many times, if any, can Erbert cast sleep (now and after a rest)?
If sleep isn’t available, focused range attacks on the tower is a second option.
Chadwick If any of the armor will fit Bronk we should get him suited up. I hate to see him get taken out by a stray arrow. To Bronk via Erbert. Is the main entrance the only way in or out? Do they have ladders or ropes towards the back? How easy is to climb?
In case things go sidewise and we do need to implement Kong's Flaming Barrels Chadwick will prep the oil casks to be used as a Molotov cocktail.
ooc/What will the humans be doing during this plan? Any light will give us away. Humans could stay with horses and move up towards the prisoners once the sleep spell have been cast. We can have ropes tied to the saddles so if the prisoners are in poor shape we could easily haul them up. They will also probably need to ride to avoid slowing us down.
What I really want to do is rain fire down on CradDick's head, but I think that will have to wait for another time.

I am in general alignment here. It appears if we approach the escarpment from the north we are out of LOS of the towers and could approach to neutralize via sleep. It appears, based on Bronks fine drawing, that there may be a small ramp up the escarpment by some trees “well drawn Bronk!”. If we neutralize the tower on the escarpment, we can then neutralize the Hobogoblin and have a lead down to Cleggor and the Gnome. This may provide cover from the ground level tower as well. In and out the same way.
"Hoid's plan seems well reasoned. Utilizing the cover of dark combined with sleep seems a solid plan. Can we see if there is a "community" water source, like a barrel or keg? If so, we may consider poisoning it." Gneuman looks around nervously. "Just trying to consider all options." /shrugs.
“I can cast sleep twice. I’ve regained some of my arcane power with that rest. Just tell me where you’d like me to be, I’ll do my best. We should have a fall back plan, if everything goes to hell in a handbasket, where should we head to? Where is our running point?” Erbert scowls, the red berry stain around his eyes makes him look menacing.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
When the shit hits the fan maybe someone could cast light on the hobgoblin (or near it)? Should make for an easier target and give the humans something to see by without giving away our location.

There is a sloped "ramp" that the tower to the right is built upon. This elevates from the base level to up on the top of the plateau area.

A short rest is taken following the fight with the patrol. Bran is rearmed and armored. Bronk has leather armor and relinquished his weapons again.
It is around midnight. The night remains dark and cloudy. No more rain, but it feels like rain could happen any time.
Plans?
Hoid will give the relinquished weapons back to Bronk.
I have made my preference clear regarding the plan of action.

Other than Gneuman doing some scouting, we stay together.
Kragen can cast a bless. I think not, but would it help the casting of sleep?
Scouting in progress……
🤔
( Only affects attack rolls or saving throws )
Scouting report??
Most likely occurring with Gneuman in a private thread.
