Theldrin will introduce Syllen and Morley when they arrive at the Unearthed Arcana, then purchases another Potion of Healing and supplies for 2 more castings of Find Familiar before retiring to his room at the Black Dragon Inn for another night. Since there seems to be time before departure he will also pick up 4 days rations for good measure, before venturing to the River Quarter to board the ship.
Syllen will follow Theldrin to the Unearthed Arcana to shop. If Theldrin mentioned his familiar Syllen will use his Druidic power to form a fey spirit into an owl that sits on his head and replies.
“This little guy has saved my life several times during my night hunts. I call her Nav … mainly because her name is Sylvan and she gets mad when I pronounce it wrong.”
Syllen will buy supplies for creating two level 1 spell scrolls. After Syllen is done shopping he will find the ship. Not needing to sleep if possible he will find a place where people won't bother him and spend most of the night working on creating a spell scroll. If the ship's crew would let him, he would pull out his bedroll and be on the deck of the ship working on the scroll.
Theldrin smiles and nods hello to Nav, then with a slight wave of his hand, a grey cat with green eyes appears at his feet. "This is Dusk... I had been wondering if I should change him into a bird for scouting during the ship's voyage but no need it seems..."
Drallion assures you that supplied on the ship are plentiful, but you're of course free to buy whatever you want.
Xanrym - Aubrek smiles at your hand, "There is no lock on the chest, it is magically sealed. You will need to bring the whole chest back intact. I believe you have the resources available to do that. Anyway, you understand that even if there was a key I couldn't give it to you, the cargo is too precious."
Those of you that visit the ship tonight find a brilliant Dwarven crewed sailing ship. These dwarves are led by an older dwarf named Wolgar, who snorts at Vathroc when he introduces you. "No need to introduce us, I know these types better than you ever will Vathroc." He shakes hands with the sailor types among you, then shows you your quarters below deck. "You'll find some supplies in here that Drallion left for you. I'd ask you to stay below for most of your time on the ship, you can trust us to find the Emperor and deliver you to the ship. We sail early tomorrow, so make sure your whole party is here before sunrise."
Syllen looks a little embarrassed when Theldrin mentioned using Nav for scouting.
“Hi Dusk, it's nice to meet you. My parents always wanted me to follow their example as wizards. That life was not suited for me. Though Nav is similar to my parents' familiars, she does not last very long. If we need, I can summon her but after a day she will return to nature.”
Khessa, satisfied with having the opportunity to recognize (and potentially save, if possible) the crew members, finally realizes how interesting this 'Unearthed Arcana' could be for her...
"A shop... of magic-related items?" the blonde arcane warrior remains open-mouthed for a few awkward moments, genuinely surprised. In her parts, her spellbook must have been the only one for miles... The idea that a mysterious art like magic could have related shops had never occurred to her "I absolutely must see it!"
The tall adventuress therefore accompanies Theldrin and Syllen. She does not actively dedicate herself to shopping... but nevertheless carefully examines the items present. And once Theldrin and Syllen introduce Dusk and Nav, she in turn conjures up a bat... out of nowhere, which, after a short flight around her, lands confidently on her shoulder: "This is Anator! My brother Anator! Of course, he wasn't once like this, his body... he was a human, like me" she frowns for a moment. "But after the evil elves from underground killed him, he was allowed to return to me in this form... once I learned the proper ritual to summon him."
[[ OOC: Technically, Anator is a very common familiar. The fact that the 'celestial spirit' sent to her as a familiar is actually her brother's soul is a belief of Khessa's - a belief that can be right or wrong. In any case, it has practically no practical effect on the game. ]]
Once finished admiring the magical wonders, Khessa is ready to spend the night on the ship, so she can set sail as soon as possible... Before returning to the ship, however, she will return Anator once again to the safety of the pocket dimension where a familiar can remain safe - there being no need for his services at the moment.
"Ah, splendid!" Theldrin's smile widens as Khessa conjures Anator. He looks around at the group of familiars and then Khessa and Syllen as he nods enthusiastically. "This is most excellent... looking forward to working with all of you!"
He will also return Dusk to his pocket dimension before venturing out to meet the others at the ship in the morning.
Xanrym closes his hand and smiles, "Of course! How silly of me. Then we will endeavor to return to the chest to you as quickly as we can!"
Xanrym walks with Coriana to the ship. He tries to make casual conversation, asking her about her previous sailing experience. Remembering her early "twitch," he is careful not press her for any details, especially if she seems reluctant to talk about specific topics, but he's an attentive and encouraging audience to any stories she's willing to share. If she does not talk, Xanrym will share some of the stories of the deeds of the Company of the Grey Chain in Orlane.
We sail early tomorrow, so make sure your whole party is here before sunrise."
Xanrym talks to Wolgar about quartering Heckle aboard the ship for the journey: "If we find that our mission takes us to land, it's always handy to have a good draft horse to haul our supplies." Once that's arranged, he checks out the supplies Aubrek has provided and catalogs them for later. Then he races back into the city (to Unearthed Arcana) to find Theldrin and Avery, in particular, and tell them about the ship, the gear that Aubrek provided, and the departure time (sunrise)!
(@drumdigby - No rations? Or is the ship providing food for both the crew and the party?)
Seeing the ropes and crossbows, it suddenly occurs to Xanrym that if it really was pirates, they might be involved in a ship-to-ship battle. Had he known that they would be leaving on a ship, he would have done more reading on nautical battles! He'll just have to resign himself to the best teacher of all: first-hand experience.
[[I don’t have time/spoons for a good first-person style description of Coriana’s response. I’m going to tell, not show.]]
Coriana responds well to the attention, although her story may indicate trouble ahead. Rather than focusing on an aggrandizing tale, she instead regales you with a tale of her losing a huge treasure and her ship at a shoddily run dwarven portage around a waterfall and a very craftily worded salvage contract. You gain the impression that while crafty and well spoken, she is not that smart in a books and math way. She does not hold dwarven nautical prowess in high regard and expresses her concern over taking a boat run by “iron-headed fools”.
Coriana is brusque but nominally polite with the crew of the ship, especially the captain. She will take a vial of antitoxin and one of the sacks, stowing with her own stuff in a corner of the quarters. She will invite Xanrym and anyone else around out for “a little nip" tonight, before finding a suitably rough tavern to spend some time in.

Once Xanrym finishes up with the rest of the party at the Unearthed Arcana, he gets all of his gear from the inn and takes Heckle to the ship. Since they're leaving the city, Xanrym changes from his "fine" clothes back into his plain traveling clothes and dons his new armor. With the early departure time, he decides that it's safer to stay awake until morning and then sleep during the voyage.
Leaving most of his gear locked in his chest on the ship, Xanrym goes back out into town to find Coriana. He personally finds her chosen tavern uncomfortably rough and noisy, but he considers it "research" into the sailors' life. While he's clearly out of place, the combination of the fact that he's there with Coriana, his skill with words, and especially his willingness to spend a few gold pieces to buy a couple of rounds of drinks for everyone at the tavern helps him avoid any major problems. He tries to avoid drinking too much himself since he wants to keep his wits about him, and he does not want to be hungover at the start of his first naval voyage.
Xanrym and Coriana presumably make it back to the ship in the early pre-dawn hours.
When Syen gets to the ship and sees the items he will take a light crossbow, one antitoxin and a Grappling Hook. After that he will write a note and leave it with the items.
‘To those I am traveling with,
I have taken a light crossbow, one antitoxin, and a Grappling hook. If compensation is required for the items I am unable to currently pay for them. If needed I will compensate the party after the job is done.
Respectfully,
Syllen
P.S.
If anyone has a need for anything I have taken I will give it freely.’
(OOC I am rolling for how nice the letter looks because I am proficient in calligraphy. Also he would cast Guidance on himself to try to do a better job.)
Coriana drinks hard, flirts with many lads and lasses, but clearly knows her liquor and limits herself to what she can handle. She tries her best to start a bar fight and get Xanrym blamed for it (all in good fun) but the Bard’s silver tongue saves the night.

Theldrin is up even earlier than usual, the excitement of the impending journey making it hard to get a good night's sleep. He muses over his spellbook by lamplight, but decides to keep his current list of prepared spells, favoring Web over his trademark Aganazzar's Scorcher as the better choice in case of a nautical battle. He takes a moment to feel gratitude for the time he spent here at the Black Dragon Inn, looking over his room with satisfaction after he tidies up. With a sigh he then hoists his pack onto his shoulders, and heads out towards the River Quarter.
Moving stealthily through the pre-dawn city streets, he experiments with using Dusk's Darkvision to be able to navigate without use of a light. Then as he approaches the docks, he dismisses Dusk and casts Light on his staff, announcing his approach to the guards as he makes his way through the tendrils of river fog and on board the ship.
It's been some time since he had an opportunity to speak Dwarvish, so he chats with any crew members on deck for a few minutes before heading down to the party's quarters. Looking over the equipment, he picks up a vial of antitoxin and examines it, saying softly out loud to anyone nearby "Well, I certainly hope I won't have need of this, but better safe than sorry..." before adding it to his pack.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You all see that there are bunks in the Guest Quarters below deck for all of you. There is food enough on the ship, and Wolgar will begrudgingly accept to keep Heckle on the ship, he clearly doesn't think much of the idea though. He gladly gets into an argument with Coriana about how Dwarves are in fact the BEST sailors, he clearly enjoys the banter with both Coriana and Theldrin.
Khessa, reaching the ship immediately to sleep on board, hoped to find Theldrin too... but she discovers that he probably has a more comfortable accommodation.
The blonde arcane warrior then, among the equipment available, takes for herself an Antitoxi, a Potion of Healing and a Sack, then she heads to the Guest Quarters to lie down to sleep. She does not expect any problems, but to be safe she makes Anator appear again, so that he can keep watch while she sleeps - and of course he knows well that in case of problems or something suspicious he must warn her telepathically, waking her up.
When Theldrin arrives, she approaches him smiling: "You know, you seem so knowledgeable about magic... Would you like to study a little together and... compare spellbooks? I would certainly be the one who would benefit the most from such a sharing of knowledge... but who knows? You too could find some fragments of arcane knowledge to add to your repertoire".
You all make it to the boat at sunrise to find Wolgar and his crew ready to depart, the old dwarf smiles confidently as you board, "Let's be off, the great Nyr Dyv awaits." The boat sets sail and slowly heads up the river, away from Greyhawk, and toward the open sea of the Nyr Dyv.
It's hard to believe the great ocean is really a large inland body of water. All around, all you see is sea. The smell of salt water fills your nostrils, and you hear the dwarves hard at work with seagulls as their companions.
What do you all do for the few days you're at sea?
Khessa, as she suggested to Theldrin, tries to find time to study with him and thus deepen her knowledge of magic, laboriously acquired by herself.
Apart from that, in her free time she will chat with her companions and the crew, trying to get to know them and their history better... and she will stay on the deck to enjoy the feeling of freedom of the immensity of the sea and the salty air on her face.
At night, while the party sleeps, she will always have Anator watch over them, just to be safe.

Theldrin beams as he replies enthusiastically, "Yes, of course... I would very much like that indeed."
In addition to spending time studying with Khessa, he will also practice with his staff on deck, sparring with anyone who seems interested. And will make small talk with the Dwarven crew.
