Bilyur's first attack misses, but his second blow lands cleanly in the troll's jaw with Mun's divine assistance, then before it can spew any more of its vile poison, Bilyur's momentum picks up after making initial contact to daze the beast. His swipe to topple the goliath fails the first time even with the impairment Sly placed on it [DC 15 Strength save: 17 + 4 -2 = 19], but after a second assault he just manages to push the troll over onto the floor [DC 15 Strength save: 10 + 4 = 14], which causes it to hit the floor and send out a burst of toxins from its wounds, spraying onto both him and Xarkris, [Both take 13 poison damage] who is up next!
Feeling the horrible effects of the poisons that are tearing Xarkris apart from the inside, he begins the process of retreating from the Troll to heal himself, but the latest poison spray is too much for the Dragonborn Paladin and he collapses in a heap next to the prone Troll.
The sight of Xarkris collapsing next to the prone troll sends a surge of cold fury through Daewen. Her earlier caution about the creature's poison is momentarily eclipsed by a fierce, protective anger. Her ally is down, bleeding out, and the hulking beast is still a threat.
Her enchanted hand crossbow is swiftly holstered as Daewen draws her rapier. With a silent, determined snarl twisting her lips, she abandons her ranged position and charges towards the prone troll. Its grotesque form looms before her, and she lunges forward, striking twice with her blade in a swift, furious assault.
Rapier Attack #1: 24 Damage: 10 + 1 Hunters Mark force damage + 3 Dreadful Strike psychic damage = 14 total damage
IF attack #1 hit- Rapier Vex Attack #2: 30 Damage: 12 + 3 Hunters Mark force damage = 15 total damage
IF attack #1 missed- Rapier Attack #2: 16 Damage: 6 + 2 Hunters Mark force damage = 8 total damage
Mun steps back to the passage way, to see clearly. Bilyur is hurt, but with a cry she sees Xarkris fall to his wounds!
The troll looks only a moment from death, perhaps, but its wounds are closing before her eyes. Though its mind might be the safest point of attack, she cannot let it regenerate, or they will all eventually succumb.
Seeing Xarkris downed, Daewen flies into action. Though they only recently met, she still feels fiercely protective, and leaps towards the collapsed troll to tear into it with her rapier, hot splashes of venom and blood coating her and the surrounding terrain as she hacks into the beasts stomach. [Bilyur, Xarkris and Daewen, take 7 poison damage] As she steps back, taking a deep breath, Daewen believes the troll is dead, but starts to notice how the flesh begins to stitch itself together at the corners, ever so slowly. However, in the nick of time, Mun bathes the creature in holy fire to cauterise the wounds and kill the troll for good, before healing Xarkris to get him back on his feet.
Consciousness comes violently back to Xarkris and his eyes open wide and dart back and forth to assess the situation. He remembers fighting the Troll and the spray of poison, followed by the debilitating agony and then the darkness of peaceful unconsciousness. Now that he is awake, the pain returns, and he rolls over to find the burning, dead Troll. He lets out a thankful hiss of relief and takes his massive hand, presses it against his chest and calls upon the powers of his station to heal himself. When his magic is drained, he stands and surveys the room. He asks the group, “What happened and who healed me?”
((Xarkris gladly takes the 3 HP of healing from Mun and adds the 25 HP from his Healing Hands to bring his total HP up to 28/39))
Mun helps Xarkris to his feet. “It was only the slightest reflected bolstering of your own courage that I provided,” she says.
“Now, which of us is best suited to investigating this place and that thing,” she continues. “I need a moment to draw my strength together, if we are willing to take an hour to undertake this work.”
((Pact magic Cure Wounds is going to be pretty crazy as we carry on, it seems. It’s 2d8 every spell level. So that’s 10d8+5 on a short rest once we get to fifth level!))
As Daewen rushes the troll, the onslaught of venom finally proves to much for Bilyur, and he collapses. Seconds later, he is revived by the powerful healing magic from seeker Mun. Back on his feet, his form slowly shrinks, looking small and weak compared to his shifted form. Looking around, he sees that most of the party seems to be doing fairly well, no one seems to still be dead. However, many took harm from the powerful beast. "I apologize, Daewen, you should not have been forced to participate. I am usually an expert in avoiding harm, yet... the poison that flowed from this beast was so sudden and unpredictable that... it seemed impossible to avoid." He looks around the party. Reaching out, he presses his palms to his own chest, and they flow with healing light. Most of his remaining wounds heal over. "My werebear blood gives me powerful senses, and my training makes it fairly easy for me to retreat out of trouble. I'm even resistant to magical attacks, thanks to my gnomish heritage. If you would all like to stay and rest, I will continue the investigation. Even after my failure here, I still think that I am best suited for the task."
((To Mun: Agreed. I will heal myself for 25 HP so you can take care of Bilyur and Daewen))
Xarkris clasps Mun’s forearm in his and bows his mighty head in appreciation, “I thank you”. He glances back and forth at Mun and Daewin and says, “Well done, both of you. You showed great courage!”.
Mun expresses her thank you at the compliment. Certainly, she thinks to herself, it is easier to be brave in a group of fierce warriors, any of whom might be the promised monarch than when it was just Daewin and her.
Xarkris shouts at Bilyur, “Now, I can think of a dozen ways we could have handled that situation better”, as he lifts his Battle Axe and brings it down on the putrid Troll’s arm, severing it from his body. “That’s about 5 pounds of fresh meat, I think”, he says, as he kicks it towards the door they just came in.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the combat adrenaline subsides, Daewen takes a deep, steadying breath. A wave of welcome warmth spreads through her, easing the lingering burn of the poison in her veins—a silent testament to Mun's healing. She catches Bilyur's eyes as he apologizes, and a small, knowing smirk touches her lips. Moving towards him, she gently punches his shoulder, like a kid sister playfully chiding an older brother, a silent message that all is well.
Her gaze then shifts to the slumped form of the troll. With meticulous care, she approaches the beast, gingerly retrieving her crossbow bolts embedded in its flesh. She then produces a small, well-worn cloth from a pouch, meticulously wiping the disgusting troll poison from both her bolts and the length of her rapier before sheathing the blade.
Her weapons secured, Daewen's focus returns to the immediate environment. Her eyes sweep the venom-splashed room, searching for any other hidden dangers or points of interest that might have been missed in the heat of battle, ready for whatever the party decides to do next.
Sly walks around the dead troll in a respectful distance. The wizard was glad that the party was able to heal each other, for the wounds that Xarkris and Bilyur had sustained seemed serious. At least they had persisted long enough to fell the foul beast, longer than she would have been able to.
When Xarkris announces his five pound find, the tiefling's upper lip raises ever so slightly. "I find myself suddenly drawn to abstaining from meat."
She then has a look at the tree that the troll seemed to have been resting under. First she analyzes any sign of magical residue [if detect magic is still up] [Arcana: 11] and tries to identify its kind with the bits of natural knowledge she had picked up in the academy [Nature: 17].
Mun prays over the form of the troll for a few moments. Not in a sorrowful tone, but more one of propitiation, to ward off its vengeful spirit and diminish its ties to this monstrous dungeon.
Once that is done she joins Sly, standing off to one side.
“What have you discovered?” She asks. “You are a wizard, yes? I have heard a wizard is to wisdom as a drunkard is to drink. You must have had a glut of knowings in your journeys through the dungeons so far. What brought one as wise as you to this place?”
Daewen glances around the room, and finds it comforting that there's no bodies in sight, but fears it may be because they have all been eaten whole, the astounding amount of blood and venom spewed across the walls the only evidence of previous skirmishes that the troll likely won. Whilst there's nothing on the ground, she does catch a glint of something nestling in the branches of the tree the troll was dwelling in, high above the party (about 50 feet), but can't discern what it could be. Sly then looks at the tree in question, tracing her hands on the grooves of its rather red bark, and can detect no magic coming off of it, however her general plant knowledge comes in handy as she manages to identify it as a Carmine Tree, a curious exotic plant that only needs constant blood to grow, without requiring soil, water or light. A seed needs to be fully emerged in blood to germinate, but once it has sprouted, the older it gets, the less blood it needs, with mature trees like this one only needing a splatter of blood at its roots every so often to keep it alive. When cut, the xylem in the tree bleed, mimicking a circulatory system, and apparently when used as charcoal to smoke meat, it gives it a rare flavour regardless of how long it is cooked for.

I failed my first DEATH SAVE.
Good luck Daewen!

“Cresb rout!” She calls on the heavens for luck.
To hit: 26
Damage 11 fire.
Mun lets her unshaped burst of Sorcerous fire fly. Her eyes turn to Xarkris, and after the poison bursts out and clears she acts.
With a flash of her golden eyes and soft prayer, a healing light washes over him for 3 points of healing.

Mun walks to Xarkris. She casts Cure Wounds at second level for 23 hit points healed.
Then she lays her hand on Bilyur, her eyes flash gold, her tattoos flare with light, and she heals 5 hit points.
