The roper’s tendrils lash and pull, dragging his companions toward its jagged maw. Gharzun’s eyes narrow, and a faint shimmer of divine energy gathers at the head of his hammer as he utters a brief, sharp prayer.
“By the Vigilant Eye—break and yield.”
A low, resonant hum fills the air as his weapon takes on a faint, menacing glow—the weight of his oath manifesting in a force that strikes both flesh and spirit.
He steps in hard, shield raised to deflect a stray tendril, and swings. The first blow smashes into the creature’s stony hide with punishing force, the divine wrath carried in the strike pressing deep into the roper’s unnatural mind. Without hesitation, he follows with a second, equally forceful strike, hammering the creature back in rapid succession.
“Release them, monster!”
OOC to DM:
Bonus Action: Cast Wrathful Smite (next hit deals +1d6 psychic damage and triggers Wisdom save (DC 16) or frightened condition)
Attack 1: To hit = 24; Damage = 12 bludgeoning + 3 psychic (Wrathful Smite)
Attack 2: To hit = 25; Damage = 12 bludgeoning + 3 psychic (Wrathful Smite if first attack missed)
Seeing several members of the group now grappled between the Ropers, Tenebril focuses all of his attention the one closest to the Maw, wanting to help get those free from its grasp before it pulls them in closer to itself OR the Maw.
(Question, would my repelling blasts force this into play? I could literally move all the ropers out of the reach of the grappled group members, right? I guess I should ask how long their reach is?)
Forced Movement: Some spells or abilities that deal damage can also cause forced movement (like being pushed or hurled). If the grappler is moved out of the grappled creature's reach, the grapple ends.
The roper takes all three blurple blasts and screams in anger, lashing out a pair of tentacles at the eldritch energy slinging fairy 14, 23
With a yank, the roper reels its grappled targets 30ft toward itself, with one hanging 20ft above the stalactite festooned floor, ten fewt from the salivating creatures jaws, but the other may not be so fortunate...
I've already ruled that the repelling blasts simply do not repel in this environmental condition. The space is defined by a riot of stalactites, ao even flying up to a shallow angle near the ceiling, at most you could move the roper a couple of feet before it hits a rocky projection and stops.
Sparhawk, suspended in the air, is safely out of reach if the crhonic maw, but it finds Koselig too irresistible to let escape, and with amighty flexing if its fleshy lobedmouth parts bites the tender morsel 24
Kos: 22 piercing damage. Make a Str save (DC18) or be swallowed whole.
Tendrils stoll flailing feom the small opwning left by the cloaed lobes of its mouth, like a snakes tounge, they feel the air, grabbing at Jake 26 and Gharzun 22 for 15 piercing and the target is grappled (escape DC 18).
With a rumble, the cave begins to tremble as the maw descends into the marl cave floor, leaving a shallow pit as gravel falls into the place where it emerged. The creaters movements are obvious as it burrows 40ft across the cavern, dragging its grappled victims along the cave floor, bouncing them like pinballs off the columns and over short stalactites as their bodies scrape across the sharp stones that litter the floor.
Sparhawk reaches his shield out, trying to block some of the damage to Garzun (if allowed: Reaction: Interception: Reduce damage to Garzun by 10).
Sparhawk, still grappled and seeing his friends also grappled, will continue to fight, attempting to free himself but also kill the creature so it will release them all before the huge maw gets closer. (Disadvantage due to poison condition: ), He misses with the first shot, but makes contact with the second: 18 to hit, (Menacing attack: Wis DC 17 or frightened of Sparhawk until end of next turn), damage: 13 "

(No one still grappled so he can escape with opportunity attack...so for now, no go)

For now, the maw remains submerged.
Players are up. If grappled by the maw, you start prone.
<I'm eager to see if Kos is in the maw or not.>
<same, kind of waiting to see what to do based on that>
