Personal Quests:
Apocalyptic Vision: Your character has been haunted by visions of the meteor for fifteen years. Every time I sleep I see it crashing down upon me. My personal quest is to see for myself what lies at the heart of the crater. I must overcome whatever I find there in order to stop these nightmares.
Arcane Secrets: Forbidden lore lies in Drakkenheim. Several dark wizards living in the ruins have mastered terrible and powerful new magic. The Inscrutable Tower library stands unguarded, filled with spell-books containing secret arcana. My personal quest is to learn these spells.
Blighted Landscape: A blight on the natural order envelops Drakkenheim, but the contamination could spread beyond the city. My personal quest is to study the unnatural phenomena found within the most corrupt places in the city: Queen's Park Garden, the underground waterways, and the Crater's Edge. Perhaps I can develop a way to reverse the contamination.
Claim the Throne: Though my family has fallen on hard times, we were distantly related to the royal House of Kessal. I may have a claim to the throne of Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to search the cathedral, noble estates, and the castle, for sufficient evidence to prove my inheritance. Then I will take the crown for myself.
Faction Aspirant: I strongly believe in the ideals and goals of the five factions: either the Amethyst Academy, the Followers of the Falling Fire, the Hooded Lanterns, the Knights of the Silver Order, or the Queen's Men. My personal quest is to join the faction, aid their mission, climb the ranks, and rise to a high leadership position within their organization.
Family Matter: One of my family members or close friends has been mixed up with one of the factions. Perhaps they foolishly decided to join the organization. Alternatively, they're taken prisoner by the faction due to some trespass or misunderstanding. Either way my personal quest is to bring them back home.
Find a Cure: I have a friend family member, or loved one who was contaminated by delerium and turned into a monster. They have gone mad and are lost somewhere in Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to locate them, then discover a way to reverse their horrific transformation.
Lost Heirloom: I used to live in Drakkenheim. My personal quest is to recover a lost heirloom from my old home, which was located somewhere in in the Inner City. Perhaps this item is sentimental, valuable to only members of the family. Alternatively, it may have magical properties, and I wish to use these powers to aid my own ambitions.
Monster Slayer: I wish to leave behind a heroic legacy by defeating dreaded beasts. My personal quest is to slay three of the greatest monsters rumored to dwell in Drakkenheim, and bring back their heads as trophies. Each must be a notable creature with a challenge rating greater than my own own level when I defeat them. My allies can assist me, but I must strike the divisive blow myself!
Overwhelming Debt: I owe a tremendous debt of 10,000 gold pieces, maybe more. My personal quest is to pay it back by making a fortune in Drakkenheim by collecting delerium plundering, and completing work-for-hires. Meanwhile, I must hide from bounty hunters sent to kill me.
Personal Pilgrimage: As an acolyte of my faith, my personal quest is to visit several holy places in the city and perform a sacred ritual before the remains of the martyrs interred within each: the Cathedral of Saint Vitruvio, Saint Selina's Monastery, and the Chapel in Castle Drakken. Through these devoted acts I will understand my place in the divine order.
Score to Settle: I have come to Drakkenheim to kill one of the faction's leaders: either Archwizard Eldrick Runeweaver, Knight-Captain Theodore Marshal, Lord Commander Elias Drexel, Lucretia Mathias, or the Queen of Thieves. Perhaps, I came to seek revenge for a past wrong. Alternatively, I may covet their position and wish to replace them. Either way, my personal quest is to slay them.
Any other you wish to make up!
okay bye

Hey Sundial! I was considering joining this campaign all the way back when it was first recruiting, but I saw the thread a bit late and decided to leave it. I was wondering whether I could join now? I don't have a character sheet currently put together since I'd like to use some options I don't have purchased myself, but by the looks of the current party it seems you've got content sharing active so if it's alright, and if I'm chosen, I'll make the actual character sheet once added to the campaign. Hope that's fine with you!
Name: Twalia Edenhop Pronouns: She/they Race: Harengon Class: Monk Personal Goal: My beloved younger sister, Exaline, was captured by a faction after venturing too far into their territory. I train and adventure to get them back. Personality/Backstory: Twalia grew up on a quiet farm far from others in the countryside, though the looming walls of Drakkenheim were always just visible on the horizon like a looming threat. She was the oldest daughter of a whole burrow full of Harengon, but after her sisters dissapearence, she trained herself in the ways of martial arts to prepare herself to get her back. She covers up her nerves with snarkiness and antisocial behaviour, though she's really good at heart, and just gets on edge when put in situations that make her worry.
I'm being super cheeky here, but just for fun... don't pick me lol.
Name: Lara Keenflow
Pronouns: She/her
Race: Human
Class: Paladin
Personal Goal: Personal Pilgrimage/Faction Aspirant
I am a resident of Westemar whose family lived in Drakkenheim, I was made an orphan the day the fire fell, and fleeing the city, I was taken in by a Flamekeeper of the Sacred Flame who raised me at the church in Geldstadt. Though the city was full of fine sights, arts, and culture, it held little appeal to me after the destruction of my home and family in Drakkenheim. It was the Flame who saved me, and I wish to devote my life in service to showing mercy and helping others ravaged by evil, as I was shown mercy. I have worked, studied long and trained harder and longer to learn the ways of a Paladin of the Sacred Flame, and I hope to join the Silver Order in their crusade in what is left of my childhood home of Drakkenheim. I look to do my part in protecting the faithful by finding and putting an end to demonologists and necromancers.
Though I was honored with a preliminary mission entrusted to me by the Silver Order... Truly the city is a worse horror than when I fled it that terrible day. I thought I had lost my life at the hands... or perhaps I should say mouths... of the most horrific monstrosity I have ever laid eyes on. I felt my spirit leaving me as my blood covered the ground, and I whispered a prayer to the Flame... so little good have I done for you in return for your benefits to me... if you will it, take me home... but if you are willing... give me another chance.
The Sacred Flame had mercy on me. And so I stand before you once again... as broken as I was on that woeful day as a child when the meteor fell... yet I will stand here against evil as long as the Flame gives me the strength to stand!
Class: Fighter (with plans to go into the Hellspur subclass)
Personal Goal: Claim the Throne: Zeren isn't related to the royal family, but his family served them as knights. Zeren sees himself as having just as much of a right to be king as any of the other claimants regardless of royal blood.
Personality: Zeren is ambitious, affable, and ruthless. Quick to seize opportunities and quicker to charge into combat, Zeren will happily partner with others for mutual gain. Zeren prefers that when violence ensues it’s as one-sided as possible in his favor. Zeren seeks power and glory, but is pragmatic enough to recognize how much easier life is when you've got money.
Backstory: Born into a poor family that had once been knights in service to the royal family until a fiendish curse resulted in their children being born Dhampirs, Zeren grew up hearing stories of the heroism of his ancestors. Zeren decided to become a knight, but had no hope of being chosen as a squire with his partially-undead nature. Lacking training or the money to buy equipment Zeren heard of the opportunities in Drakkenheim and traveled there to claim the glory he saw as rightfully his. He managed to scavenge weapons and armor is ready to start his adventure.

Do you want character sheets created using DNDBeyond or would DiceCloud be acceptable?
Yeah homebrew be allowed! and either one is fine. someone has content sharing in my campaign so if you want races or classes you don't have you can use theirs.

Name: Athalie Keenflow
Pronouns: She/her
Race: Human
Class: Paladin (maybe with a level of Bard)
Personal Goal: Personal Pilgrimage/Family Matter
I was born in Drakkenheim, in Westemar, but I didn't live there very long before the awful star destroyed the city. I think I was only 4 years old when I fled the city with my older sister, Lara. Our parents were out working and died in the blast, but Lara pushed me into the house cellar and we survived it. Then we ran. I really don't remember those days very well. A kind Flamekeeper working at the church in Geldstadt took us in. I loved Geldstadt! So much beauty, fine art, music, and culture. I played a few bit parts as a little girl in the operas, and while Lara kept to herself and studied religion, I enjoyed my new life. I think Lara remembered more than I did about what we'd lost. I always looked up to her, though, she was my hero. I followed her in her studies to be a paladin. I know the Flame saved us. I wanted to make a difference, too. When Lara announced she was going to join the Silver Order on their crusade to Drakkenheim, it felt like everything I had lost came crashing back. Not her too... of course, I loved Flamekeeper Macrina, who cared so well for us, gave us her Elyrian accent and her tender devotion to the higher things not of this earth. She was always kind to everyone. Lara was so reserved, I think I was the only one she talked to.
At first I told her I wasn't coming with her. I think she was hurt, but saw it as her duty to go alone. After she left, though, I couldn't stand it. I missed her too much. I started hurrying through my paladin studies so that I could go join her. If that meant the Silver Order, they would be my family too. I made a whole production of my quest to follow my sister, I sang songs, I made a drama, I went on the stage every night. I'm pretty popular in Geldstadt and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. It came from my heart, though. I love my sister. I got a lot of donations, enough to make the journey. I got a fast horse. I needed to make up the time. Now I'm off, I'm on my way, to join my sister. Her life was nobler than mine. I want to be like her one day, if the Flame wills it, maybe I'll be as holy as her, someday.
Thank you, Flamekeeper Macrina! Thank you, Geldstadt! They say you always go back to where you came from... so Drakkenheim, here I come. Flame preserve my sister Lara and the Silver Order!
Hello, I am interested in applying. Are you willing to accept some of the new races from the source book that dropped yesterday? (Book of ebon tides)? I think some of those races would work well in this style of campaign.

So I am waiting to flesh out my character until I know a little more about what is allowed. (Edit! Awesome, Now I just have to decide what I wanna be!)
Character Applications:
Name: William Bumblewood
Pronouns: He / Him
Race: Darakhul
Class: Wizard / necromancer
Personal Goal: Arcane Secrets: Forbidden lore lies in Drakkenheim. Several dark wizards living in the ruins have mastered terrible and powerful new magic. The Inscrutable Tower library stands unguarded, filled with spell-books containing secret arcana. My personal quest is to learn these spells.
Personality/Backstory: William Bumblewood doesn't consider himself a bad guy... although most of the narrow-minded townsfolk he grew up with would say otherwise. Growing up as an undertakers son was fairly uneventful. There were not many people in town and even fewer deaths, so there weren't many folks that needed to be buried. seasons passed and William lived a mostly normal life as he tried to make himself useful and earn a living within the sleepy farming village.
Over the years his father became sick and money was tight. William worked as a farm hand on the side to earn coin and would often collect discarded items and attempt to fix them up to reuse or sell for more coin. "one man's trash is another man's treasure..." His father would say to him often... and the words rang through his mind every time he brought home another pile of useful junk.
One day a very old and sickly looking wizard was passing through their village and stopped to visit a weathered gravesite. Although William approached him, the wizard never said a word before collapsing to the ground. No one in town knew the man and he was quietly buried the following day with no in there to mourn him. Before he was buried however, the desperate William made sure to take the old wizards spell book and other valuables in hopes of selling them for a quick profit to support his family.
Upon reading through the wizards book, he soon realized he could make much more money another way. Soon he began to view the corpses and remains buried in the cemetery as resources... the souls weren't contained in the bodies... the bodies were just going to waste... surely they could be used to help the town?"He thought to himself as he began trying to learn the spells and rituals contained within the book.
Eventually, William's father passed away from his sickness and he was left alone with only his book and a cemetery full of resources. He became more of a recluse and only emerging when new corpses needed to be buried. Eventually concerned townsfolk began sending people to check on him from time to time. After opening a door when William refused to answer, they were shocked by what they saw inside and William was forced to flee. Now he heads to Drakkenheim in search of knowledge referenced in the old spell book. He would prove everyone wrong and show that just because someone is dead... doesn't mean they stop being useful.

Congrats ConstancePhokas, hope the campaign goes great! if you are planning to make a third Drakkenheim, I would love to join, but if I'm honest I'm already very short on character spaces and wasn't the biggest fan of my original character suggestion since it was a pretty rushed off-the-top-of-my-head idea just so I could get in first lmao, so if you do recruit for a new one, please prioritise choosing all other players over me but if there's any need for another character, you can shoot me a PM and I can sort one out, I don't wanna take up a spot other people would value more and get more out of. Thanks for the oppurtunity!

Perhaps this item is sentimental, valuable to only members of the family. Alternatively, it may have magical properties, and I wish to use these powers to aid my own ambitions.
Personality/Backstory: "Backstory?! You want a backstory?! Well my Momma wrote to me when I went to school saying something was going on and if I could come home. Well you see that shite over there with all the smoke and flame?! That's my backstory. My Momma, my Da, my little brother, the bakery? All Ashes!"
Shara Stargem Race: Human Class: Warlock (Cosmic Patron) Alignment: Neutral Good Religion: Old Gods Background: Far Traveler
Personal Quest: Blighted Landscape: A blight on the natural order envelops Drakkenheim, but the contamination could spread beyond the city. My personal quest is to study the unnatural phenomena found within the most corrupt places in the city: Queen’s Park Garden, the underground waterways, and the Crater’s Edge. Perhaps then I can develop a way to reverse the contamination.
High Concept: Shayara's comes from a distant island. Her own home was affected by a similar fate as Drakkenheim, though far less severe. Years later her people are starting to feel the effects of delerium and she travels to Drakkenheim in search of a way to reverse it.
Personality Trait: A stoic individual, I place no stock in wealthy or well-mannered folk. Money and manners won't save my people. Personality Trait: As an astute mystic I have a lesson for every situation, drawn from observing the heavens. Ideal: Nature- The natural world is more important than all the constructs of civilization. Bond: Though I had no choice, I lament having to leave my loved ones behind. I hope to see them again one day. The gods of my people are a comfort to me so far from home. Flaw: I consider the adherents of other gods to be deluded innocents at best, or ignorant fools at worst.
Appearance: Shayara is an attractive woman of average height and build, though slender she is healthy if not strong. Considered an elder by her people, the druid moves with the confidence of a leader. Her numerous trinkets and jewelry jingle as she walks. An aroma of burnt sage, cloves and the forest permeate the air around her. She speaks in a harsh and raspy voice somewhat like a loud whisper. Her eyes seem to change colors depending on the lighting.
She wears a heavy cloak with a large hood, the trim embroidered with rune patterns. Her protective leather armor is minimal but functional with tall boots and long gloves. She wears gems all over her person that are actually tiny fragments of delerium used to amplify her magic. She carries a simple wooden staff with a faceted crystal on top.
Personality: Shayara possesses a strong sense of duty. She is here to save her people and as far as she sees it, the world. The warlock struggles with an internal conflict as she abhors delerium, but is also dependent on it for her magic. She knows what this could do to her and is willing to pay the price if her strength of will is not enough.
The world of Drakkenheim is most unusual to her. She comes from a simple island with little technology and old beliefs. She had never heard of the Sacred Flame, the royal family or any of the factions before coming here.
WOW THESE ARE AWESOME! With up to JStone813's post and another player who DMed their character I am going to close this!!! Thank you to all who applied!

Soon he began to view the corpses and remains buried in the cemetery as resources... the souls weren't contained in the bodies... the bodies were just going to waste... surely they could be used to help the town?" He thought to himself as he began trying to learn the spells and rituals contained within the book.

There are currently 4 players for the 3rd Drakkenheim campaign I think:
Me (Fighter), Shiverquill (Monk), Wreckzors (Wizard), and Stormbringer4729 (Unknown)
Depending on what Stormbringer4729 chooses to play as we'll either need a character for stealth/thief/face stuff or one for healing.

Shara Stargem
Race: Human
Class: Warlock (Cosmic Patron)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Religion: Old Gods
Background: Far Traveler
Personal Quest:
Blighted Landscape: A blight on the natural order envelops Drakkenheim, but the contamination could spread beyond the city.
Personality Trait:
A stoic individual, I place no stock in wealthy or well-mannered folk. Money and manners won't save my people.
Personality Trait:
As an astute mystic I have a lesson for every situation, drawn from observing the heavens.
Ideal:
Nature- The natural world is more important than all the constructs of civilization.
Bond:
Though I had no choice, I lament having to leave my loved ones behind. I hope to see them again one day. The gods of my people are a comfort to me so far from home.
Flaw:
I consider the adherents of other gods to be deluded innocents at best, or ignorant fools at worst.
Appearance:
Shayara is an attractive woman of average height and build, though slender she is healthy if not strong.
Personality:
Shayara possesses a strong sense of duty.
