I sling my shield to carry the lit torch. I approach the next set of doors with Silvana. I take the door Silvana is not checking. I will throw mine open when he does the same. Then I will enter, lighting the way.
A few quick sparks and then a surge of flickering orange light fills the room, casting shadows throughout the room. In the new light, everyone can see the crimson shield with the golden windmill motif on it, affixed as a coat of arms with portraits of stony-faced aristocrats on either side of it. The torchlight makes the stained glass panes gleam and sparkle, making it obvious that no speck of dust has been allowed to accumulate here.
With a sound no louder than a whisper the other two doors swing open into a grand hallway. In the torchlight, you can see several dark oil lamps in their sconces on the walls. A trio of doors appear on the wall opposite your entry. A black marble fireplace to the left, with the glimmering steel of a longsword above it. Across from the fireplace is a grand sweeping red marble staircase. A single door shares the wall that your entrance is on. All the doors are closed, but appear to be made of quality wood.
“Check the other rooms!” I yell to the others. I will hard charge into the room directly across from where we entered. The quietness is starting to get into my head. It’s unnerving. My sense of urgency is coming from no where and I know that. I can’t help myself...... something is drawing me.....
Reed careens across the room, the quiet stillness filled now with the thudding of his footsteps. As he opens the other door, his torchlight floods the room beyond. A massive mahogany table dominates the middle of the wood-paneled dining room. Eight high-backed chairs with carved armrests and velvet-covered cushions surround it. Sunlight from the three windows on the opposite side glimmers off the crystal chandelier over the table, which is set with beautiful silverware and crystalware. A fireplace is around a small corner to your left, with a painting of an alpine valley over the mantle. The frame is polished mahogany, and carved beautifully.
At a glance, you can see images of deer among the trees carved in the wall paneling. There are red silk drapes over the windows, pulled back to let in the light. A huge tapestry of hunting dogs and mounted aristocrats chasing a wolf hangs from a thick rod to the right.
Gralwynn follows Reed into that first room with the paintings, she wishes to check for shinies before moving into the next room with Reed, to do the same again.
Gralwynn's words stabbed her heart like none other could. Not that she'd let that stop her, though. "I am getting this child regardless of what you think."
Without any external light source the disguised tiefling moves towards the staircase and starts her ascent.
Reed, you don't notice much of anything, but Gralwynn, as you quickly glance through the room, you see twisted faces carved into the tree trunks and wolves lurking amid the carved foliage in the wood panels around the room.
Adric, are you opening the other door on that wall (the one just to the right of where Reed went), or are you going to the door on the other side of the hall (at the bottom of the map, sharing a wall with the door you came through)?
SIlvana, you move towards the sweeping staircase and start your ascent, we'll resolve that once we square away Adric.
Adric, you open the door, pulling it back towards you slowly. Inside the small space, you notice several black cloaks hanging from wooden pegs and a solitary black silk top hat rests on the shelf above.
Assuming you quickly move on from the coat closet, there are two more doors on this side of the hall, and the one on the side you came from. Which would you like to explore next?
You open the door at the bottom of the map, noting how easily and quietly it swings open. It seems to be some kind of hunter's den with a large stag's head hangs over the fireplace off to your left. A pair of fur-draped padded chairs flank a small oak table in front of the hearth. A cask, a candelabra, and some other assorted objects sit atop the small table.
Across the room from where you stand, a cloth-covered table surrounded by four chairs sits beneath a chandelier made of antlers.
Immediately in front of you, and off to your left are a pair of cabinets. No fire flickers in the hearth, and as with everything else, there are no lights currently burning. You can see oil lamps in sconces along the walls. Unlike the other rooms so far, this one has windows! Unfortunately, the closed shutters block the limited sunlight from outside.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Slightly more anxious at the sets of of images, Gralwynn moves onto the dining room, searches quickly, and if nothing else, pockets the cutlery/silverware

Finlan, did you accompany your group up to the door and inside, or are you still out on the street with the children?

Reed, just checking that you are opening the left two doors across from where you came in?
The left most. I’m going in alone while the others check other doors.

Adric just sees Reed rush off towards the door and follows after. "Wait! Don't go running off without back-up!"
