I think Sera try make Verhanna feel a bit shitty there and convince her to act better towards the other party members... So I roll a cha+persuasion to try convince her behave better towards them. .the Geas spell give me a saving throw to resist the effect I assume. if not just ignore the rolls.
(got 20 on that roll. for 23 on cha+pers. My saving throw was kinda weak. Only 13 so the spell prolly takes effect)
Did I miss something? I didn't see if there was a save stated for the affects of the ink. If there isn't then so be it but if there is what's the roll?

Signing the agreement is willfully accepting the terms of the geas, so there's no will save. If you don't sign it, you're not on the contract, but not under the effects of the geas. There are other ways to get out of it, if you intend to do so. But don't worry. I don't intend to throw around compulsion spells willy nilly. This is has more to do with how low your current renown is and how important this mission is for Santekh. Verhannas doesn't fully trust you yet.

It's a good roll, and Verhanna sympathizes, but rules is rules, and Verhanna is about as lawful as they come, especially for Santekh. It did change her attitude about you though. She respects your conviction, and has changed from Indifferent to Friendly out of respect for your conviction.
Hastos is having some trouble making friends today. 😄
Don't worry MrUncleTio we still love you. Next, maybe walk right up to Glynnis and tell her her beer sucks. 😄
In my head I swore I could hear you saying “%*$u$ f*&#$!+g c&#!$t just sign the &$#@ing document!!!!” 😄😃😂
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll put that comment in my back pocket in case I want to alienate the *entire* town!
I'm amused as hell! But Verhanna was one more smart remark from having you thrown out on your rear. 😄
The first group that encountered Verhanna cost me almost half the party. Instead of speaking to her one at a time and with any respect, they showed up late (while she was trying to go home) and started barking out orders and speaking over each other. So, as you can imagine... she didn't respond well, and some of the players took it as a personal rejection.
Which I should use this time to remind the party: NPCs are not me. I'm playing a character. Some of my characters will be so enamored with you that you that you could literally marry them if you wanted to. Others will want to kill you and collect your head for bounties. And there's a spectrum in between. My first DM taught me that after my first session, when I had a meltdown because things weren't going well between my half-orc cleric, and a friend's dwarf fighter. He told me: "What happens in character, stays in character. It's not personal. It's roleplay." I learned to recalibrate my expectations, and had a really good time after that. That game was also the best game I was ever in, and I even kept that character as a guest-NPC who shows up in some of my campaigns. He's not in Dragonlance though. You have to find him on Oerth. But he's a retired adventurer now, who is the headmaster of a school for adventurers alongside his travelling companions from that first campaign.
Verhanna is inspired by a combination of myself and a mentor I had back when I worked as an auditor for a hotel chain. She and I are both autistic as hell and easily overwhelmed by people, so we crunched numbers in silent at night. Especially if multiple people started talking at once. It's a great job if you like quiet, straight ledgers, and numbers. My mentor was generally a nice person, but was clearly a librarian in another life, because she always glared at me if I tried to chat too much. 😅 But I get nervous around people, and try to be entertaining, so I got snapped at a few times for it before I learned to just sit there and focus on my work. Once my training was complete, I got my own hotel to manage. What bliss! I turned on my music and cranked out a balance sheet from 10 PM to 2 AM and then just played video games until 6 AM when the manager rolled in. My numbers were always right, so the boss didn't care what I did, so long as I remained in the lobby for my shift. Leaving that job was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. But a job offer with better pay presented itself, and the money was too good to turn down. I still wonder if I made the right decision.
That reminds me... now is a time for an "age" check and a "consent" check.
Uncle and Lark have already gone through this during V1. But I want to make sure everyone is comfortable with our play style. All the player characters are considered to be adults, but real people play them, and I need to know that we're respecting boundaries.
In my games, PCs are the rock stars of their world. Even at level 1, you have abilities that most NPCs could only dream of. And that makes you impressive, if not possibly seductive. The game is rated at PG-13, so things like violence, most foul language, and light sexual content are presumed to be allowed. If two characters are gonna bump adorables, that happens "behind the curtain." But casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting are allowed so long as all the IRL people involved are adults. If you want to roll to seduce an NPC, go ahead. I think it adds a level of warmth and kindness in an otherwise grim setting. But you need to get consent OOC from another player before any such activity occurs. As such I need to ask a few questions. And I need answers from everyone, so we have it here for posterity:
Are you an adult?
Are you comfortable with things like casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting happening to you?
If you aren't comfortable with that happening to you, are you comfortable with that happening in the setting, but not to you?
If you are not an adult, I'm going to insist that you be excluded from that aspect of the gaming experience. Don't worry. I've run plenty of campaigns for YA, youth, and children before. It's easy to recalibrate and still make it fun! Once I have this information, I will put the established boundaries in OOC post 1 as our house rules.
Also, the only wrong answers are dishonest ones. Your boundaries are important. I want to make sure my players feel safe and included while enjoying the game. So please be honest. Details aren't required, but if you feel you need to explain something personal, but don't want to share it with the group, you are welcome to PM me.
To set the stage, I'll go first:
Are you an adult? Yes
Are you comfortable with things like casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting happening to you? Yes
If you aren't comfortable with that happening to you, are you comfortable with that happening in the setting, but not to you? NA
1. Are you an adult? By legal definition yes. I play make believe on discord and forums, watch cartoons, and enjoy video and board games as hobbies which don’t always equate to being treated like an adult (42y M)
2. Are you comfortable with things like casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting happening to you? Yes, not sure if Merkas is through…..
3. If you aren't comfortable with that happening to you, are you comfortable with that happening in the setting, but not to you? N/A, have at it Hastos/Sera.
Great post. Thanks for sharing that personal color as well.
I was a video game developer for nearly 20 years, technical arts. So I had a foot in art and engineering. I left that industry and went to a big data company, and now a sports apparel company and while not art, I’m kinda doing the same thing. Process engineering.
I miss the good parts (and some of the chaos) of the game industry a lot, but I love the stable paycheck, hours, & life I have now way better.
Oilfield employee most my working life, equipment maintenance and what not. Grew up in a family of carpenter and cabinetmakers. Recently got the itch to get into woodworking but winter happened as that started but thankfully it’s only growing not waning. (It gets to -40 here in the winter so not much chance to work in the unheated garage)
Are you an adult? Yes, but there’s a15 year old that lives inside me that still thinks fart jokes are funny.
Are you comfortable with things like casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting happening to you? Yes.
If you aren't comfortable with that happening to you, are you comfortable with that happening in the setting, but not to you? Yes. But very ok if anyone isn’t. I do my best to “read the room”. If I fail, feel free to boop me on the nose. I course correct quickly.
Grew up the son of a carpenter as well. Inherited the same itch for woodworking, but not for the finer stuff of cabinetry. It requires a level of patience and skill I just don’t have (also inherited from my father).
I will never complain about a “bone chilling” 25 degrees again. 😂
Thank you for a fun game and great posts. I am in Norway and usually wake up to see whats been written during night time and it is always some of the first things I do.
Are you an adult?
Yes (53 ) From the age when youtube clips not existed for DM and I have traumatized my players in all ways so I am done with that.
Are you comfortable with things like casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting happening to you?
No problems here either. Hold hands sounds sweet...poor Sera trying to get Hastos to hold hands but he is a though nut. I buy him drinks now and get him pretend drunk...maybe he hold hands then? ;)
If you aren't comfortable with that happening to you, are you comfortable with that happening in the setting, but not to you?
I seperate characters from players but are mindful that it is a person behind the text.
Are you comfortable with things like casual kissing, holding hands, romantic embracing, naughty humor, and suggestive flirting happening to you? Yeah sure, I doubt it will happen much to Sharn, considering how he is, but yeah sure.
If you aren't comfortable with that happening to you, are you comfortable with that happening in the setting, but not to you? Yeah.
I'm working in the hotel industry, and I have a long commute, so I have a lot of idle time here and there. The time is even more idle because I get the PM shift, from 15 to 23. It's a really good shift, even if leaving late sounds unappealing.

Well just assuming it is the Geas spell effect here. Geas have a wisdom save roll. if it is not just ignore the save.
btw
YOU such sneaky Kender!!! ;)
What?! Just signing a contract over here….
