Ummm, when I was creating my character I went with halfling for my extra language option. Would that translate to kender in dragonlance or should I change it?
I noticed when I was checking your character sheet that you chose Lightfoot Halfling, but I assumed that your species representation was a fluff choice, and you picked halfling for crunch. That's probably why you have the halfling language proficiency. Was that unintentional?
I have to go bed now..you guys post way to late for me. But if Hastos opens the door....we can fade to black and next morning Sera be in a good mood and ready for traveling. (whatever deal you make with Buckiran is ok with me and hiring that Kobold guide ). she buy some dry rations and a waterskin enough for the travel.
Good night
Lessee, you posted this 5 hours ago when it was 3:30 PM for me. It's 8:30 PM, and I have had a looooong day, in what has been a loooooong week, and it isn't over yet. I'm trying my best to keep up with the posting frequency, because I'm grateful for the fervor!
This brings up a good point as we are, by design, all in different time zones. I am GMT-7 and I believe Sera is across the atlantic plus an hour or two so 8-9 hours ahead of me. So this is why they tend to post early mornign for us and we are posting late at night for them.

Not quite. I kept seeing that halflings have a huge wanderlust in kryn, so I thought it would make sense for a language that a nomad could pick up. I chose hill dwarf as my species, not sure where the lightfoot halfling part came from tho. Maybe dnd beyond added something when it didn't know what to fill?

True, but that's the nature of PbP, and (I think) a good one. I have tons of friends in my own city of Fort Worth, Texas who love playing DND. But schedules keep us so far apart, we might as well be in different time zones. My spouse can play on Thursday's and Fridays, but my son really doesn't have time except on weekends. My boyfriend (we're polyamorous) is available on Monday's and Tuesdays, and my girlfriend is available once or twice a month on Thursdays. My spouse's girlfriend is usually exhausted from her own insane schedule, so when she comes over, we usually just sit around and binge watch shows on streaming services. My best friend (besides my spouse) is mostly busy with her girlfriend, or her grueling work schedule, so I barely see her more than once a month. And so on and so on. We've tried live sessions, but they always fall apart because half the group can't make it, or work schedule's change, blah blah blah. I don't know a single person in my social group who doesn't looooove playing DnD. But none of them can actually sit down for a game long enough to get through even a short module.
But, on Play-by-Post, time zones and schedules mean very little. You post when you can, and for the most part, it requires about 15 minutes of your time (more for me, because I get obsessive 😅) Then, if that's the only post you can get through in a day, that's perfectly fine. If you can only manage to post three or four times a week, that's also perfectly fine. And you can post whenever you want without worrying about screwing someone else's schedule up. You just have to read up on what's happening and post accordingly. I usually log in at around 9:00 AM to update. It takes me about an hour. But if that was our schedule, I'd have to cancel on days like today, and if the DM cancels... that pretty much kills the session. Instead, I get to log in 12 hours later than usual, read a short fan-fic, and get busy contributing. And the writing is usually soooo good! This group has an amazing imagination, and does fantastic work co-creating a world for me to disappear into.
Because of the schedule flexibility involved on PbP, I've been able to keep campaigns running for years before they fade out. Of course, I've never successfully finished a campaign. 😅 But that's partially my fault for running open-world sandboxes that never really have an end. But this one is built to get this party to level 12, and has a fairly distinct plot that will reveal itself in time. So... maybe... this party will be the first group to see my story to the end.
On that note... I'm about to speed the clock up and end the day. Which means it's time to declare your Downtime Activites. Please click the link and peruse through it to figure out what you think you'd like to do. In my campaigns, you don't actually need to be in town to work on many of the downtime activities listed here. Crafting, Research, Scribing, and Training are all perfectly reasonable options, provided you have the prerequisite tools and proficiencies. You work on your downtime activity at regular pace during overland travel and during your long rests, and twice as fast while in a town, except Relaxation, which is the default Downtime Activity. That happens at normal speed, and only while in a settlement where you can actually let your guard down and rest.
You can keep logs of your downtime activities on your own, if you wish, but I'll also keep record of it in the Campaign Notes. For training in a language or tool, your INT modifier divides the amount of time you spend learning the skill. +2 INT means you learn in 5 weeks what a +0 INT or lower learns in 10. But I'm not cruel. If you have a +1 modifier to INT (that's most of you) you get two weeks off, so it'll take you 8 weeks plus the requisite gold. In this case: gold. Not steel.
Sharn took a deep breath and smiled. It seemed like there would be a lot to do tomorrow.
"Good Buckeran, I trust we'll be able to pick up the items tomorrow? For now, if you will be taking that scythe, please be careful and keep it secret, keep it safe."
He knocked on the floor with his staff.
"For now, I wonder if fate has changed ... I will be outside, before I turn in for the night. Good night everyone."
Sharn walked slow and precise steps to the street, and then around it. It was as if the dwarf was looking for the best patch of dirt he could find. Then, he sat cross-legged and looked up, his staff scratching gently the dirt in front of him. Tonight the stars where bright, no doubt the dirt would be just the same.
I need clarification here. I'm under the impression that Merkas is taking the scythe, but also the ring.
Ok...I am a European. We have love scenes. If this was out of line I am not here to offend anyone. I hope it was within limits. If not Then we just delete it. I enjoy have a story that spans many themes and love and passion is one of them. Death and pain we for sure have enough off. It is a DnD game and it is much about monster killing and getting treasure but the good thing about PbP is that you have time to describe all the things that are just assumed to be in between that. Adding things a table play never can have about characters. ( very seldom at least and then often a different game system than DnD is to be prefered)
All kidding aside. I agree with your sentiments. I thought it was quite well written, but agreed if anyone was uncomfortable with it. Great post, Larskoldstad.
As for downtime activities I think Sera try carpentry and help repair and build housing and nessesary facilities. Hospital, workshops, latrine, sleeping quarters, defence walls etc etc. She is tempted to start make shrine to Paladine but she never was the temple type and she prefer better show she is not above people and that Paladine is the god for everyone.
She will very open show her devotion and answer any questions ofc. She hope others seek to her and her deity and not some lame bad god like Sargonnas you have to sneak around in creepy graveyards at night when life gets hard.
But we see when ( if ) she returns with the lost crates..
Thank you. I leave the tender morning after post to YOU. Hope it turns out good. Not like jumping around pulling weapons butt nekked and searching for enemies ;)
I just want to say a few words about players contribution and control of their character.
I totally agree that no other players should decide what another players say, think or do. it is a boundry.
Same time to me a game is a shared experience. We play a game togheter. And together create the fun. So we already trust each other to make a shared fun experience. So if two (or more players ) agree on a set course of action I do not feel this boundries is crossed by have another player describe actions within that agreement/scene.
If you invite to a dance and it is accepted. We dance and I feel it is all oki to have my partner lead.
We trust each other to not overstep and not to spoil the fun in a scene but create a even better story shared for both.
But it is also your call. if this not work out and only leads to stress and no fun I will respect that.
This is a strenght in a written PbP for me, making a written story that is fun reading and I hope we can continue do so.
I tried to keep Sera’s motivations in mind and remain rational about things. As you put forward earlier I’ll certainly reciprocate: My apologies if I enacted anything that made you or anyone else uncomfortable. I’ll happily edit / remove as requested.
It was well written, and steamy! So long as the mods don't have a problem with it, I don't have a problem with it. 😉
I agree that it's weird that we can describe in great detail what it's like to dismember another person, but not describe the act of two consenting adults sharing a night of intimacy and kindness. But, the world never made much sense to me anyway.

Carpentry in town will be impossible, since you're about to leave town for at least a half a week. You could, perhaps, build a small tool or trinket on the road, if that's the route you wish to take.
Other options may include:
Scribe a scroll (create or destroy water seems effective)
Learn a language (draconic and Hachakee has already come up in the campaign. Since Hachakee is a language subtype, you can learn it in half the time.)
Develop proficiency with another tool. (Masonry and leatherworking goes well with carpentry. Navigating and cartography could come in handy as well. Learning Herbalism could make it so you can make potions, something the party has already requested.)
Research (you'll need something to help you with your research: a book, or a map, or a know-it-all, but if you're going up against kobold raiders it wouldn't be the worst thing to know what you're up against.)
Think about what you could do while strolling through the desert plains or riding on a horse.
she lack the education (arcana ) to write scrolls so I guess she try the herbalism way. She visit Duncan before leaving and make a deal to collect herbs on the way and maybe get some books to study about herbalism. She would be interested to later start make healing potions.

Because of that pesky arcana requirement, Duncan has learned a way to make potions and intoxicants that don't require magical abilities or arcana (though arcana knowledge certainly helps).
They work a little differently, and often not as well, but they get the job done. If he knew how to create water from nothing, he certainly would've, but your welcome to take him on as a mentor during long stays in Santekh.
