LOL yeah that would be fun, maybe if we stop for the night he will spend some time before sleep to get her comfortable with him riding her.
I thought about making you roll, but since Barkly's attitude towards you has changed, they're willing to be cooperative so long as your interests align with hers. She wants to hunt. You decided to take her hunting. I still imagine it was a bumpy ride. She's used to carrying a rider. But you might not be accustomed to riding a fire-breathing chicken.
You did that on purpose! LOL Merkas will be more than pleased to see that his companions all ate well. He and Barkly may just come up empty handed again.
So... my DM in another campagin has a house rule that I believe will help us here:
Insight Check for hindsight: If you discover you need a mundane item (a toolkit, ten-foot-pole, string, bucket or barrel, etc) but forgot to buy it at the last settlement, you can roll for hindsight (DC 10) to retcon that you purchased it last time you were in town, and it just happened behind the scenes You'll need to be able to afford the mundane item, and it can't put you over your encumbrance.
In this case, there weren't many supplies to be bought, because Santekh is out of supplies... that's the whole quest. But I'd imagine that there were some empty casks and barrels available for purchase. If any of you wish to roll for Hingsight, anyone who rolls a 10 or higher remembered to purchase the necessary items. Otherwise, mess kits really only hold about a quart of water, and waterskins technically only hold about a half-day's (2 quarts) ration of water. I've been a little generous with the survival requirements, and rounded it up to a day. But when no one replenished their water at the cave, I decided it was time you ran out.
So, without a barrel, most of that water is just going to form a puddle on the ground that will eventually soak into the dirt. It's good news for the desert wildlife, but less helpful to your party. If one of you has the hindsight to have picked up a 50 gallon barrel before leaving Santekh, then most of it can be stored in that.
If you like this idea, I'll add it to post one in the OOC and make it an official house rule for the campaign.
It’s a great way to allow for hindsight to assist in the moment. But Merkas would definitely not have had that kind of forethought. That would fall under Sera and Hastos as they are the more trained soldier types.
Sure. I just assumed we had a container we used for the horses that was available.
The spell Fill up available containers within spells range ( 30 feet) so waterskins will be full and the container the horses had since they drink much. A barrel.
Ok, the new house rule was added to Post 1 of the OOC. Looking back at post 1, I kinda want to update the layout. It looks a little clunky. But I've got a lot going on today, so I can't. 😕
Larskolstad please add the barrel to your inventory. We'll say you can secure it to the cart while travelling. But it's tight back there with those 12 crates. So I can't imagine anything more fitting on there without strapping it to the side with ropes or something.
I give my 100% consent to have you let Sera act in small and completely normal ways that is not changing anything much at all.
Like you know Sera by now. she never say no to give Merkas and the Strider food. She gladly share and you could move on with the writing.
That said how we go on to root out "evil" in town when we get back? I more thinking on type of play we like?
We go on try be smart and socialize to find out? Sneak around at night time and try find evidence?
Get masks and pretend to be yet a new and evil cult wishing to destroy Santech and with the help of a few we trust start make trouble to lure them out thinking "who the hell is this newcomers? We need to cooperate destroying Santech"
You could just ask Paladine to bless your weapons, so that it only does lethal damage to the evil-doers, then proceed to slaughter everyone in town. Whoever doesn't die is innocent, right? 😈
At the moment, it seems appropriate to let your group cook. Ideas are brewing, and your figuring out next steps. So, I'm not going to move anything forward in the IC for now.
If that is the will of the party, all anyone needs to do is shut down camp when you're ready. Your encounter probability has already been rolled. The merchant trail is pretty low risk, so you've got time here to rest and enjoy some much-needed rainfall. ☺️

Clearly we need to get a duck and a scale, and if anyone is heavier than a duck, they're evil.

Well at least the rest of us have a bbq while Merkas is out hunting lizards and snakes. We save him some leftovers ;)
You did that on purpose!

I rolled 13 on my dice.
I was just curious if Hastos would have remembered. Nope!

After dinner and freshments we keep pushing on right? We can handle some exastion? We be in Santech in the morning then.

I think we can handle a wee bit of exhaustion if we spend time in town.
Clearly we need to get a duck and a scale, and if anyone is heavier than a duck, they're evil.
Logs are easier to use because ducks might fly away

Ngl, I kindda want to ignore the pseudodragon, but it's probably the familiar of a dying mage.
I like to ignore the little dragon for now...seems like a distraction and it lives in a tiny hole near town...why disturb it?
